Anne Boleyn: A Queen Condemned (2023)
Background music is supposed to be in the background.
I get the feeling that no one involved in the production of this documentary ever actually watched the finished product. The background music is so loud in places that it becomes difficult, if not impossible, to hear the actual dialogue. This is especially true during the times that the narrator is speaking, and also when the woman is reading actual letters written by Anne Boleyn. Other than that, it seems to be a good program. The casting looks good, the costumes are gorgeous. I watched the Mary, Queen of Scots episode in this series, and did not notice this problem at all. So I'm hoping that this issue only occurs in this episode.
Disenchantment (2018)
Netflix is stupid for cancelling this show.
This show is fabulous. It's one of my go-to programs when I can't find anything new that sounds good to watch. The story lines are fun, and the character development over the course of the show is great to see.
I was overjoyed when I opened Netflix one day to see that there were new episodes, after so long of thinking that the show was just over. I really think, though, that Netflix should have given the creators twenty episodes to wrap it up rather than just ten. Having to try develop and wrap up all of the storylines in such a short time really left parts of it feeling a bit disjointed.
But, I guess I'd rather have a disjointed ending than none at all, so I'm at least thankful for that much.
Bridgerton (2020)
Just go read the books.
Seriously. All this series has in common with the books is the name of some of the characters and one or two plot points. Otherwise, they are totally different animals, the books being far better.
To whomever is responsible, a point: a good actor is a good actor, regardless of their skin color. Kenneth Brannaugh did not find it necessary to rewrite Shakespeare to justify casting Denzel Washington. Your making the queen black in order to explain the presence of black people in your cast is insulting to your actors.
