Survivor (2015)
Doesn't make sense
This movie is foolishly portraying the audiences as if they are all dumb.
Bill Talbot, a Diplomatic Security Service superior, allows terrorists to obtain visas to enter America just because he believes his son, who is captured in the Middle East, will be released if he allows the visas for terrorists? It doesn't make sense.
And nobody knows the condition and situation of his son as a prisoner in the Middle East except for him? That doesn't make sense.
Kate Abbott, a Diplomatic Security Service agent:
Running like a mouse chased by a cat when she was pursued by the 'Watchmaker'? Doesn't make sense.
Showing herself naively while holding a gun, the murder weapon, in front of the public as if she were a shocked regular citizen? Doesn't make sense. And how did the gun, previously held by her boss (Bill Talbot), suddenly end up in her hand? Doesn't make sense.
In the subway, she was able to hurt the "Watchmaker." Instead of keeping him paralyzed to ensure he was unconscious, so she could have evidence when the British agent captured her, she just ran. It doesn't make sense!
Again, naively, she didn't realize that the "Watchmaker" could track her via her ID card? Doesn't make sense.
And worse, after learning that the "Watchmaker" was tracking her, both she and her friend (Sam Parker) naively didn't think that they were already being followed by the Watchmaker while they were in Talbot's house? Doesn't make sense.
She showed up at the airport using a fake passport under a different name, and finally arrived in New York happily ever after without the British government putting a warning of her face at customs? Doesn't make sense!
The "Watchmaker," a very skilled sniper, missed shooting that running mouse after the bombing? Doesn't make sense. For the second time, while in the underground subway, why did he not just kill her from a distance instead of approaching her to shoot her at close range (which allowed Kate to hurt him)? It doesn't make sense. For the third time, he missed shooting her while in Talbot's house. And for the fourth time, he again was unable to defeat Kate when he was about to shoot the balloon. Doesn't make sense.
And how is it that the entire US army was unable to capture her when she sneaked back into the embassy to create a false passport? Doesn't make sense.
How come Maureen Crane, a United States Ambassador to the United Kingdom, is portrayed as so stupid? She is unable to "read" the situation? Doesn't make sense.
Time Trap (2017)
Disgusting
The one star is just for the good concept about time.
The floor was full of vomit from me and my friends as we were all disgusted by the characters and cheesy dialogues. Consequently, we all ended up vomiting multiple times.
As the scenes unfolded, the revulsion towards the characters and their contrived dialogues became palpable, leading to a collective reaction of vomiting that stained the entire floor.
Despite the overwhelming disgust, the intriguing essence of the concept remained a compelling reason to endure the film, albeit with a precautionary measure - ensure you have a basin nearby should the need arise.
Santa Sangre (1989)
I've watched this movie a few times and the ending always made me want to cry
First saw this movie in a Laser Disk format in 1989.
I was 25 yo that time, and I watch with two friends, one Canadian and one American, while I am Indonesian.
When the end credit was rolling, we stare to each other then one of us shout "damn good movie !" and the rest agree with him. The three of us like this movie very much.
Time goes by, innovation changed, LD no more, then there was VCD. I missed this movie as I can't find it in VCD format.
Then DVD came in. Still missed this movie as I also can't find it in DVD format.
In 2012 it's the time of MKV file format. I was very happy that finally I can have this movie in MKV file format.
Until now year 2023, I've watched this movie several times and later on I noticed that the editing is not so good as sometimes the music and also some scenes were cut abruptly, but I still like it, never get bored.
People have their own taste, so if you haven't seen this movie, give it a try. Who knows that maybe you will like it or maybe you hate it.
13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi (2016)
Boring, too fast and too many uncommon terms
For example, "ambo", "17 Feb" (and many other umcommon terms). What do they mean? Only after around one hour or so, I guess it stands for the "ambassador" and "the Libyans who are their friends".
Some of the soldiers face are difficult to recognize as they looks similar (at least to me and my friends) while the movie's cut is too fast. It doesn't stay at their face long enough to "know" them.
So when I heard "Tig"... "Oz"... "Rone" spoken from one of the character, my mind is unable to "tell" their face as I keep wondering "who is he? Which one is he?"
When something happen, again my mind keep on asking "which place is this? Which place is that?" Which make the movie is hard to follow. Only after the start of the 13 hours, I know where it is.
Some people like this kind of movie, but I like the kind of Argo movie.
Captive State (2019)
No character development
Not just me, but all of my friends are confused and get bored for so many "meaningless' scenes.
The "meaningless" is in the point of view of us as the audiences.
Our emotions are not involved while the movie put a thrilling music most of the time and all of the characters walk here and there with with their intense face. So dull. There is no character development. Who is he? Who is she? Who is that man? Who is the "witch" at the window? Who is Rula? How did she get the cigarette's paper?
Boring as hell to see so much time spent just to show nothing.
Although at the end of the movie it does tell a bit about some of the characters who is who, but it's too late, we've already puked all over the place.
The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (2009)
Total garbage.
It seems the mind of the maker of this movie was jumping around when he made this movie. No story line, no plan at all.
That's why the movie is very disjointed. A total mess just like when you see what is in the garbage bin.
Game of Thrones: The Iron Throne (2019)
Stupid finale
Did the film maker think:
A. "Wow... This is the best finale story ever. Audience will really love it. Let's make it" (?)
B. "Wow... This is a the worst finale story ever. Audience will really hate it. Let's make it". (?)
If B, they are stupid but succeed.
The film maker : "In order to make the audience hate the finale, let's make it as bad as possible".
If A, they are stupid and not succeed.
The film maker : "In order to make the audience love the finale, let's make it as good as possible".
And there is C:
The film maker : "To hell the audience, I don't give a s*** to them. This is the best finale according to me". (?)
Small Time Crooks (2000)
For me, this movie is telling that some people like to be judged as "classy".
There is a line when Frenchy say :
What's bothering me is we got no class.
Then she say :
It's knowing the finer things.
Like food and wine, and painting, and books
(and opera and unusual vocabulary, my addition).
She continue:
Class is something you can't fake and you can't buy.
We came into a couple of bucks, but we're phonies.
We're trying to act like big shots.
But soon after that, she thinks that she still can buy "class" by learning, as David (Hugh Grant) ask her : Smarten you up. Is that what you said?
So to me, at this point she actually already took a dumb decision, because she chose to learn on "how to be classy" than to learn on "how to take care of your business". The same with Ray the husband, he chose to stay ignorant rather than to learn on "how to take care of your business".
Later on, there is a scene where Frenchy and David have a conversation and she uses uncommon words : agog, asseverate, accolades.... and then she's commenting to David's friend using words : animadversion and apposite.
This remind me to one of our popular artist, when he talks, he likes to put uncommon words but then the whole sentence become confusing/meaningless. In the long run, many people started to mock him.
Anyway, I think this movie is also telling that once you are not a classy person, then you can never be a classy person. The movie described it in the last "classy" scene when Frenchy is in a solo concert, her phone ring and she just pick it up then talk loudly on the phone.
Funny movie.
Gisaengchung (2019)
Bad ending, the villains are free from justice...
Because they are totally a very deceptive and cunning persons.
It's a very good movie, but too bad.... for me it seems the movie is telling that one can be as worst as possible yet still can escape from justice if he/she is clever enough.
And on the other side, at the same time this movie is also telling to the rich people not to be so naive and kind to their staffs. Just be careful and don't put 100% trust to their staffs.
I don't understand as some said that they are not villains because they are poor?
Anyway, again... This movie is sooo good, worth to watch. Scene by scene are all interesting except the ending.
The Hole in the Ground (2019)
Super slow boring movie
I don't understand how in the internet text I read "The Hole in the Ground will have you sleeping with the lights on" or "scary creepy movie, will have you pee in your pants" etc etc etc.
But it turn out for me, the movie have me cursing with my spits out all the time while watching it.
There is no scary creepy scene, none at all.
The kid's acting is similar to the kid in the Sixth Sense, but if these two movies are compared, it's just like heaven vs hell.
Even kids will still go to sleep with the lights off after watching this "funny" movie.
Luce (2019)
Maybe Yes - Maybe Not
I think this movie is saying that everyone must NOT trust someone else, because no one is able to know the truth of someone else.
As in the movie, the parents can never know if the son is evil or not, maybe yes - maybe no.
And the son can never know if his parents love him or not, maybe yes - maybe no. It seems the mother love the son so she protect him by lying that the teacher never gave her the fireworks... but who knows if actually the mother just want to protect herself so someone else won't say that she is not a good mother ?
The parents, the son, the school headmaster can never know if the teacher is correct or not. Maybe yes, maybe no.
The Chinese girl can never know if Luce is just using her as a tool or Luce does really care for her. Luce can never know if the Chinese girl is using him as a tool or she does really like him.
The mother and the teacher can never know if the Chinese girl tell them the truth tor she lied to them.
When Luce is giving a speech in front of the audience, the audience can never know whether Luce is speaking the truth or not. For example when Luce say "I like America", maybe actually he hates America.
And finally, we as the movie watchers will never know the truth of all the main characters in the movie.
Who lit the fireworks in the classroom and who draw on the window of the teacher's house ?
Maybe the mother, maybe the father, maybe Luce, maybe the Chinese girl, even maybe the teacher herself.
The movie makers succeeded in making all the main characters in grey, hence the movie is totally grey and ambiguous.
Anyway, I like the movie's dialogue.
Hereditary (2018)
The one who said this movie is scary, he is a 5 yo toddler
I deliberately watch this movie alone at night, turn off all the lights and boose the AVR volume up hoping that I will get scared to death alone while watching this movie.
It turned out I am yelling to death and cursing all the time, feeling that I just want to smash the tv down.
None of the scene is scary. NONE.
On the contrary, it's a very very boring, typical, slow and dreadful movie. It's just like a 5 yo kid wearing a stupid mask trying to scare people.
How come someone is dare enough to make this kind of movie?
Dark Encounter (2019)
Waste my time.
The background music is trying to be like from Hans Zimmer Pearl Harbour, Ennio Morricone The Mission and John William Artificial Intelligent. This cause my ear drums like are going to blow.
The slow motions are exagarrated.
The dialogs are dreadful.
Boring.
Actually I like the concept of this movie, but pity the movie makers are unable to make the movie interesting.
Bait (2019)
We are cursed, that's why we unknowingly watch this movie.
I don't know what I have done before as watching this movie is really really a bad karma.
I can't understand how human can dare enough to make this kind of movie.
One star is too generous. Pity, there is no minus rate with a broken star icon option.
Anyway,
if you like to watch someone is tying a rope for 3 minutes, preparing the net for another 3 minutes, taking out a fish from the net for another 3 minutes, putting a fish into a basin for another 3 minutes, etc etc etc over and over and over again...
And if you like to watch a scene where the cooking for 1 second then people eating for 1 second then back to the cooking for 1 second then back to those people eating for 1 second then back to the cooking for 1 second, etc etc etc over and over and over again....
And if you like a very "smart" conversation where there are two groups talking, group1: person A talk with person B, group2: person C talk with person D, and the scene :
person A say a one line sentence for 2 sec, person D say one line sentence for 2 sec, person B say one line sentence for 2 sec, person D say one line sentence for 2 sec etc etc etc over and over and over again...
And if you like to watch a silent movie where it show ocean for 10 sec, then a door for the next 10 sec, then a boat for the next 10 sec, then a close up face for 10 sec, then people drinking for 10 sec, etc etc etc over and over and over again...
then watching this movie is your good karma :).
Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (2019)
The picture is way toooooo dark
At the beginning of the movie, me and some of my friends quite enjoy the movie.
But each time they are having a dark environment, the picture is way toooo dark.
Many times we can't see what happen because it's annoyingly too dark.
Even after I blow the level and the brightness, the picture is still too dark and became white washed because of the level and brightness blow.
So we can't help but cursing the picture everytime it's too dark.
Stupid curve/level/brightness movie editing.
Prospect (2018)
If you want to curse, watch this movie.
Very boring slow movie.
Many times they shoot the actors doing nothing, just stand still or face close up, or holding a gun, etc for 1 minute or more ! Really annoying.
And the girl looks like very happy just after her father dead. It's just like she is saying "glad that finally you are cursed, daddy".
Really, it's not just "not worthy to watch" but "you'll be insulted with this stupid movie".
I wonder how this movie can get 2 stars and crazy 10 stars.
The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then the Bigfoot (2018)
"The Man Who Is Very Stupid In Proposing a Marriage Proposal and Then Regret It For The Rest Of His Life"
It's a slow boring movie and terrible background music.
The title "The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then the Bigfoot" is misleading because although it's there but the movie is not about what the title say.
During the movie runs, three times the man cursed "christ" and three times I wonder what he cursed about. By the end of the movie, my conclusion: he curse his stupidity which later on he regret it in his old age. Hence, "The Man Who Is Very Stupid In Proposing a Marriage Proposal and Then Regret It For The Rest Of His Life" is a suitable title.
And the background music is unbelievable.
The timpani usage is very exaggerated, and worse, it doesn't fit with the scene.
For example: the background music with the timpani rolls sound has a tense feeling, yet there's nothing tense in the scene.
After too much hearing the timpani sound, I even can tell my friend : "listen, in the next scene you will hear the timpani sound again". And I was right.
I don't quite understand how the movie makers think "wow... the exaggerated timpani's sound is nice and it goes along with the scene" while it's actually awful and annoying.
If you are a type of person who doesn't like slow movie (such as A Ghost Story, Melancholia, Amour, Light of My Life, Sinister, etc) don't see this movie.
Lies (1983)
I hope I can watch this movie again.
I was 19 years old when I watch this movie on Saturday "midnight show" with my friend. I really like this movie, and wonder why it seems almost no one watch this movie.
