The Defenders: Mean Right Hook (2017)
Season 1, Episode 2
6/10
Solid Follow-up Episode for Defenders
19 August 2017
Warning: Spoilers
After almost two episode with the defenders still not meeting each other we finally get Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones) and of course we have to see them go head to head with each other right away. Cage clearly had it under control until Danny used his glowing fist to win the fight. Right at the end we also saw Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) try to step in as Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) attorney which we can assume goes pretty bad as Jessica isn't the one who wants any help.

Just as the first episode this continued with four different stories, Danny and Colleen still trying to find the hand, Luke Cage trying to help a boy stay out of trouble. Jessica is looking in to her case and Matt having to make a decision to get back into the fight to stop crime in New York. Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) was a decent character to start with but he has really started to settle in as Foggy and it was great seeing him again together with Matt at the bar. Misty Knight (Simone Missick) have appeared quite a lot so far and her run ins with Jessica has been entertaining so far while Trish Walker (Rachael Taylor) seems out-of-place. It's understandable that they want to bring in supporting characters from the other shows but her characters scenes so far has been the low-point for these episodes.

The villain Alexandra played by Sigourney Weaver has been highlight so far with the character appearing very threatening without really doing anything. Madame Gao (Wai Ching Ho) is always a pleasant surprise when she shows up in a Marvel series. With her appearing in Defenders it really seems like Marvel has done a good job of setting up these series from the very beginning. Overall another solid episode and with this episode ending the way it did we can assume that Defenders is really going to kick-off in the next episode.

The Defenders: The H Word (2017)
Season 1, Episode 1
6/10
Promising Start for Marvel's Team-up
19 August 2017
Warning: Spoilers
The first episode of the Marvel Netflix Team-up show is basically telling us where the characters are in present day. This really is Daredevil season 2.5, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist season 1.5 and there's absolutely nothing wrong with it. That's exactly what we should have anticipated and some might feel that Defenders therefore started of a bit slow but it's exactly want it should have been. The first fight scene might have been better choreographed then the Iron Fist series but it was barely visible because of the dark environment and was therefore a letdown.

Even though I kind of enjoyed Iron Fist many people had issues with it and its lead Finn Jones as Danny Rand/Iron Fist. He might not convince you in this episode that he can portray the character but at least he seems to improve somewhat and if that trend continues trough out the series than more people might be happy with his performance. Charlie Cox is amazing as Matt Murdock and has been since the first episode of Daredevil. season 1. In this episode he wasn't involved in any fighting scenes but he got to show of his acting skill in both the courtroom scene and when he's talking to the kid outside of the courtroom, both scenes were acted wonderfully by Cox. All four of the defenders got about the same screen time and both Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones and Mike Colter as Luke Cage continued their strong performances from their respective series.

A lot of supporting characters from the different series appears and unfortunately Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) still doesn't to it for me, she seems kind of stiff, but at least Defenders isn't going to focus on her character. The first episode had to be a bit slow but that's when the dialogue has to be top-notch for the episode not to suffer and even though it wasn't bad, it wasn't at the level it could have been to make this a great start for Defenders. Overall a solid first episode and it definitely shows a lot of promise for the next seven episode to come.

Stargate SG-1: The Enemy Within (1997)
Season 1, Episode 2

Fairly Strong Follow-up Episode That Develops Characters
4 August 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Who is truly the villain, is it the known enemy the Goa'uld that's exist inside Teal'c (Christopher Judge) or is it mankind itself. Everyone is not the same on either side of the battle, Colonel Kennedy (Alan Rachins) clearly show us just that when he wants to use Teal'c and his symbiot as a test subject. While the political dilemma is going on Charles Kawalsky (Jay Acovane) is having his own problem with a Goa'uld symbiot.

Jack O'Neill (Richard Dean Anderson) is just the kind of leader of a team you need, he looks after his friends and the people who treat him good, he fights all he can for Teal'c even though he has only known him for a short period time. He also tries to do everything he can to help his long-time friend Kawalsky to get rid of his symbiot. The whole Kawalsky getting black-out is a good story point and that the rest doesn't know at first that it is Kawalsky that is causing the problem at the base.

It's a shame that we won't be able to see the friendship between O'Neill and Kawalsky but that will open up to newer friendships between the other major characters and we will see them grow from the start on the screen instead of imagine what those two has gone through before. Don S. Davis really did a good job in this episode as the George Hammond the leader of the base and one who has to take difficult decision and standing up against Colonel Kennedy and his wishes. In the end we got our SG-1 when Teal'c is able to join the team to fully form SG-1.

Game of Thrones: Dragonstone (2017)
Season 7, Episode 1
6/10
Not the Best Start for the Season but Still Promising
4 August 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was basically an episode to tell the audience that Game of Thrones is back and please come back and check out or remaining six episodes this season, because this episode was kind of lackluster. Arya (Maisie Williams) is a characters that's gone from interesting to boring quite a few times, sure the opening scene and the end of Walder Frey (David Bradley) was spectacular but her meeting with the Lannister soldiers and Ed Sheeran cameo wasn't that well done to be honest.

The White Walkers walking was a good tease for what's coming and Sandor Clegane (Rory McCann) got to do some good in this world for all the bad things he has done, mainly for the Lannisters but still terrible things. The Lannisters has got them self a new ally in Euron Greyjoj (Pilou Asbaek) and his ship is going to be important for the Lannisters in the upcoming war. Samwell Tarly's (John Bradley) story in this episode was straight up boring but at least we are going to see him have a proper conversation with Jorah Mormont (Ian Glen) in the near future.

The reunion between Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) and Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) hasn't been going that great and they disagree on quite a few matters regarding how the North should proceed in both the war against the Lannisters but also against the White Walkers. They probably shouldn't argue in front of all the other in Winterfell and we got some nice smiling from Littlefinger (Aidan Gillen) himself as they argued, fascinating to see what he has planned next. Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) finally arrived to Westeros and hopefully her invasion will start shortly, overall a decent episode.

Suits: Divide and Conquer (2017)
Season 7, Episode 4
7/10
A Strong Episode from Suits
4 August 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This was an incredible episode of Suits until the very last-minute when Mike (Patrick J. Adams) decided to go against what he promised to Harvey (Gabriel Macht). This episode worked so well because we got to see Harvey, Mike, Louis (Rick Hoffman) and Alex (Dulé Hill) work together to try to stop the attack against the firm. They had to forget their differences and band together, we saw Mike step in and save Harvey out of trouble and even Louis showed some gratitude when Alex saved one of Louis's top clients.

Donna (Sarah Rafferty) was good in this episode, to some degree because this was one of the few times we actually saw Donna fail at something, she couldn't find out who was feeding the other firm with information. Towards the end of the episode we find out that Jessica (Gina Torres) was the one doing it, but only because the firm would attack Pearson Specter Litt anyways and she wanted to try to make Harvey and Louis fight with each other instead of against one another. I really like the dynamic that's been created with Alex joined the firm.

Then we have the bad part and that's Mike going against not only his word to Harvey but his written agreement that state that he would not help Oliver (Jordan Jonson-Hinds) in his case for the clinic. I don't want this entire season to be about this case or Mike once again dragging down this firm, I want him, Harvey and the rest of them to fight against other firms or major clients. Robert Zane played superbly by Wendell Pierce returned and gave some good advice towards Rachel's (Meghan Markle) and Mike's relationship. Overall a really great episode with Wendell Pierce and Gina Torres appearances as the highlights.

Score: 8/10 (Great)

Stargate SG-1: Children of the Gods (1997)
Season 1, Episode 1
Very Good First Episode for Stargate
3 August 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This one and half hour long episode is a really strong continuation from the movie, a few actors have been replaced but you get over that pretty quickly. Kurt Russell is an amazing actor but Richard Dean Anderson's Jack O'Neill is so much more charming and i'm glad he got to change up O'Neill a bit to suit him better as an actor. The chemistry between Kurt Russell and James Spader was good in the movie and the chemistry between Richard Dean Anderson and Michael Shanks who now plays Daniel Jackson looks really promising in this first episode as well.

Our heroes are once again going back to Abydos and we see a few familiar characters from the movie. Kawalsky (Jay Acovane) and O'Neill work great together and it's nice seeing Kawalsky get his own team even if i would have liked to have Kawalsky with O'Neill as much a possible, maybe they are to similar for it to work. Samantha Carter (Amanda Tapping) is a great addition to the series as she will be able to have good conversations with both Daniel Jackson and Jack O'Neill. She's physics doctor and captain in the Air Force so she's kind of the one who knows a bit of everything.

Don S. Davis plays General George Hammond a tough general but at the same time he seems to care about his people very much and i look forward to seeing his interactions with Jack in the future. The villain is a character very similar to Ra in the movie, his name is Apophis (Peter Williams) and thanks to him we get a new fascinating character introduced Teal'c (Christoper Judge) and is going to be interesting to see how he fits in with the rest of these characters. Overall a good first episode to continue where the movie left of and both the new actors and the new characters is interesting

Score: 7/10 Good

Suits: Mudmare (2017)
Season 7, Episode 3
7/10
The Season is Really Starting to Come Together
1 August 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I gotta start this review of with that i really enjoyed this episode. This really reminded a lot of the early episodes of Suits where Louis (Rick Hoffman) is not understanding what's really going on. The same old Louis and Harvey (Gabriel Macht) relationship might not show growth but at the same time that's way we started to love the characters from the beginning so it's nice to sometimes see that nothing has changed, even though we know they have evolved since the pilot episode.

Alex Williams (Dulé Hill) have now joined Pearson Specter Litt as an Senior Partner and his arrival has already cause friction between both Harvey and Louis but also between Harvey and Mike (Patrick J. Adams). Mike is struggling with another pro bono case, but this time his case ends up interfering with a client of said Alex and Harvey has to make a decision of what's more important. The firm and Alex's client or his newly written contract with Mike. The whole story line with the associate and Donna (Sarah Rafferty) and Rachel (Meghan Markle) hasn't been that intriguing but now it seems that it will move in another direction, which hopefully will be good for the series as a whole.

One character that i really like is Oliver (Jordan Johnson-Hinds) from Mike's old clinic, he might end up as a little annoying for some people but i really enjoy when he shows up to have a conversation with Mike. He seems like he really want's to help people and even though he feel betrayed by Mike's decision to leave him and the clinic, he's still prepared to look over this in order to help the innocent people. Overall i liked this episode a lot and Alex prove to be a fine addition to the show.

Stargate (1994)
6/10
The Start of an Amazing Franchise
1 August 2017
The movie that started the whole Stargate franchise, Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis and Stargate Universe. The story is very intriguing and the whole ring concept introduced is extremely fascinating. Jack O'Neill (Kurt Russell) and Daniel Jackson (James Spader) as the two leads work really fine together. Th effects might not live up to today's standard but much better than other 90s movie and the concept and this whole idea behind the Stargate is interested and explored more deeply in the shows.

The villain Ra (Jaye Davidson) also show a lot of promise early in the movie but unfortunately he can't live up to promise and was kind of an lackluster villain in the end. The villain is of course not the center piece in this movie, that is of course the Stargate and their journey to Abydos. On Abydos they meet Skaara, Sha'uri and Kasuf, these character has to band together and fight against both time and Ra. The movie isn't fantastic by no means but it's a great starting point for the three series that continue after the movie.

Roland Emmerich is not a great director but somehow he didn't screw this one up, sure the first Independence Day is also fine but his other movies have been mediocre at best. David Arnold's score in this movie is very well done and really should be appreciated. It's not the typical sci-fi, action movie you have grown to expect over the year, but Stargate actually has a few layers to it. The whole relationship that both Jack and Daniel make with the inhabitants on Abydos is compelling and adds a lot of emotional impact to the story. Overall a really solid movie that launched the Stargate franchise.

The Mummy (2017)
6/10
The Hated Movie That Wasn't That Bad
31 July 2017
Tom Cruise is a great action star and some people might not have wanted an action movie out of this. There's some horror or thriller moments to it but in the end The Mummy is an action movie and with Tom Cruise as the lead we shouldn't have expected anything else really. Tom Cruise does what he is good at and that's shooting action flicks.

The reviews had been bad for the movie and didn't therefore expect much of the movie and perhaps that was part of the enjoyment that i found in the movie. The cast of Tom Cruise, Sofia Boutella and Jake Johnson were good and Annabelle Wallis was solid at least but wasn't given that much opportunity to work with in my opinion. We have both Tom Cruise and Russell Crowe in a Mummy movie, try to put that thought in your mind when you think back at Brendan Fraser's the Mummy. The acting caliber is there but did Russell Crowe really fit inside this movie, he's clearly there to set-up the Universal's Dark Universe, but this have to be one of Russell Crowe worst performance in a movie.

Alex Kurtzman might not have been the best person to start of this Dark Universe but i be damned if i wasn't entertained in watching this movie. It has flaws for sure but the chemistry between Cruise and Johnson in the beginning i though was top notch. Tom Cruise always manages to work great with comedic talents, we see that in the Mission Impossible franchise with Simon Pegg. It wasn't the start that Universal wanted for the Dark Universe but we can't doom it just yet. Marvel and their MCU didn't start of with the best movies. Sure Iron Man 1 was damn good, but The Incredible Hulk and Iron Man 2 were kind of lackluster, so there's hope yet for Universal's Dark Universe.

Suits: Skin in the Game (2017)
Season 7, Episode 1
6/10
Promising start for the new season
31 July 2017
When we last left of Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) and Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams), they were back to working together and that brought a lot of hope of the good old day of Suits. The first few three season were gold and season 4-6 were a little up and down. This episode did was a really solid start for the season, but it definitely wasn't without some bad parts.

The relationship between Harvey and Paula (Christina Cole) in this episode felt a little forced but hopefully it will seem more naturally in later episodes. Donna (Sarah Rafferty) wasn't Donna in this episode, it felt unreasonable for her to ask for Senior Partner and it just feels like this is the writers way of replacing Jessica, they want to replace her with Donna. Harvey really has a lot of on his plate in this episode. He and Mike have their case, he has to take control of the firm while Donna is also asking for a seat at the table. He is also trying to make things work with the former therapist Paula.

Donna is to busy wanting her place at the table to really guide Harvey and instead Mike has to step and put Harvey on the right track and make him step up to take over for Jessica. Mike himself has just left the clinic and is struggling with moral dilemmas and former colleagues. Overall a solid start for season 7 and the banter at the end between Mike and Donna was pretty great.

Dunkirk (2017)
9/10
The Next Masterful Movie by Christopher Nolan
31 July 2017
Christopher Nolan is a wonderful director and all his movies have either been good or amazing so far in his career and Dunkirk is no different. Dunkirk is an amazing theater experience and it should definitely be watched in the theater if possible. The sound was perfection throughout the entire movie, from the minute the movie starts you feel the intensity starts to rise and it doesn't stop for the movies relative short running time for being a Christopher Nolan movie of merely 106 minutes.

The set-up of the story not being told in a lineal way and instead in three different parts that intertwines with each other is a genius move by Nolan. These sort of things is where Nolan can really shine in his story telling abilities. A lot of the main actors have almost zero credits in their filmography but with Nolan's directing they seem to act as naturally as they possibly could. The absolute standout of the movie has to be Tom Hardy's performances, what that man can do with only his eyes is astonishing. For the major part of the movie, almost his entire face except for eyes is covered but he stills achieve some great acting and show emotion through out the movie. His character Farrier is involved in one of the most gorgeous shot i have even seen in a movie, it's so peaceful but still in the middle of the war.

This truly is a war movie and some scenes were horrifying to witness. It might be a war movie but it's just as much a survival movie. The middle part dragged at some places but the beginning and especially the last 30 minutes were truly amazingly done. The chemistry between the father Mr. Dawson (Mark Rylance) and his son Peter (Tom Glynn- Carney) was very well done and their story caught and few bumps on the road but they managed to convey so much emotions with so few words. That goes for the entire movie, not that much speaking with dialogue but instead with what's going on around these characters and with great cinematography by Hoyte Van Hoytema. Christopher Nolan did it again, he created a really good movie.

Score: 9/10 (Amazing)

Suits: Pilot (2011)
Season 1, Episode 1
10/10
A Great Premise
31 July 2017
The pilot episode of the legal drama Suits is a really strong start for the series. The pilot is 80 minutes long which is basically two episodes, that provides the creators a greater chance of creating a solid ground for the series to start of with and they really managed to do just that. This was an excellent made pilot who introduces us to these wonderful characters.

The chemistry is their instantly between the Harvard lawyer Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) and his new associate Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams). The banter between the two of them is absolute gold and their continued reference of movies is really fun to be a part of. We see both respect, competition and some quirky comments between Harvey and Jessica Pearson (Gina Torres).

The chemistry between the characters is what makes the episode a strong start for Suits. The supposed chemistry between Mike and Rachel Zane (Meghan Markle) wasn't there really for me in the first episode but it will most likely built on in forthcoming episodes. Louis Litt (Rick Hoffman) really seems like sort of a snake and his schemes going forward is going to be fascinating.

Score: 9/10 (Amazing)
