Suicide Squad (2016)

They nailed it with Margot Robbie and failed in every other aspect
13 June 2017
Warning: Spoilers
It is actually amazing that they somehow created a phenomenon with Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and then went on to fail in every other aspect possible.

I see people talking about Jared Leto being good as the Joker and also Will Smith doing a great job. Weird. Actually Jared Leto and his character are not even part of the plot and Will Smith... Well, his performance is not even relevant.

It's the plot. Nothing makes sense. Just one example here: When did they become such good friends so that they can risk their lives for each other? How? Why? I'm not even gonna mention that these guys are supposed to be villains. It's the end of discussion. Extremely bad plot = bad movie.

PS: Reading the trivia section full of Jared Leto antics is almost as annoying as the plot. I declare Leto as the new king of pretentiousness. Sorry Sean Penn.

Great start but the rest is junk
1 December 2016
Warning: Spoilers
After the first few minutes (right until the opening credits), I actually called my wife to "come and not miss this one because it seems great". Fortunately for her, she did not have time.

The build up with the annoying and extremely shallow teenage characters is just too long and it is almost impossible to empathize with any of them. So you will be indifferent (if not happy), when they are being murdered. That is if you can follow the scenes and figure out who is hitting whom with what.

In conclusion, all you will find in this one is poor writing and poor direction. I would not recommend this to anyone at all. 3 stars just for the opening sequence.

it doesn't make sense that this film made it to the theaters
23 July 2007
I saw this movie today and I am really shocked. this is one of those films that you can't understand how anybody didn't stand and say "hey wait a minute! this is crappy, we can't show this to people". maybe i'm a little bit exaggerating the situation, but maybe i'm not. the story is bad but not the worst. I can consider it OK. screenplay is really bad. acting is so poor that it is difficult for me to find the right word in English (which is not my native language) to describe it. even Udo Kier is bad in this one. during the whole movie, I was all like "what are they doing man? why would a cop do that?!". yep, the film doesn't make sense at all. and I have a few words about audio effects. it's not cool man, it sure is not cool. it is even unethical to use thrilling voices this much. two or three times in the movie, you hear increasing and disturbing voices and it turns out that there was no voice at all. it was just... not the killer. not a rat. not a machine. not the air floating through the corridors. it was just nothing. just an effect right there, occurring in the theater. I think there is a misunderstanding. producers of this film really misunderstood the thrillers they've seen so far.

p.s.: Hitchcock reference was annoying. i am offended as an admirer of Hitchcock's work.
