The Heart of Nuba (2016)
The Kind of Hero the World Needs More Of.
Why Watch The Heart of Nuba?
Because we all need something to believe in.
Because we all need to be inspired.
Because it will (probably) make you want to be a better person.
And perhaps most importantly, because Dr. Tom deserves to have his wish granted.
A wish you ask? Before being awarded the Aurora Prize, we asked Dr. Tom what it was like to be honored as a finalist.
"It's a bit intimidating and to be honest with you, I am just kind of here, taking care of some people, and I am just filling a small cocoon. But awards serve their purpose. If it helps tell the world about the atrocities happening in Nuba, and the amazing work of the church and the people here, then I feel blessed to be a finalist."
So by seeing this movie, and encouraging others to see it, you are helping fulfill Dr. Tom's wish of letting the world know about the plight of the Nuban people.

An important reminder about what really matters
I was deeply moved by this film that highlights the life of a remarkable human being. This document is a beautiful testament to the peace, hope, and joy that he brings to the world and receives from the world. How beautiful that a film gives voice to the too often silenced - that it allows for their stories to unfold with honesty and respect. This film also honours people who dedicate their lives to improving the lives of others; people who work with the ignored, neglected, marginalized, different. It calls on us to question our view of success and to reimagine the lives of those considered weak. With all that ugliness and pain and horror we see and hear about, here is a reminder that there is a lot of humanity and beauty in the world. Thank you to Jean Vanier for your guidance and wisdom and thank you to all the people of L'Arche who so honestly opened a small window into their lives and allows us to celebrate all that they are.

A show about the beauty of human kindness
Bravo Ricky Gervais.
The whole cast is brilliant. The show allows us to confront our own mortality in a way that is at times uncomfortable but mostly a good reminder that the only real super power is kindness. The rest is just noise.
Thank you for the beautiful portrayal of an adult with cognitive disability - for highlighting that true beauty and possibility lies in the eyes of the beholder.
Bravo. Hilarious and so emotionally moving.
Watch at least two episodes.
