Editing nightmare!
14 May 2024
Had there been any good acting in this film maybe the edits wouldn't be so rough. Watch scenes with mother daughter. The position of their heads to conceal no mouth movement. The stepping onto X-marks-the-spot for the-next-scene. Painful! If they had focused on anything remotely natural it could have been decent. Instead they focused on posing. They focused on surface crap that was poorly executed at that. Watching this has made me mad at myself. I knew it was going to be bad from the get go but persisted. One minute hair is wet, the next, dry. BB looks like he starved himself for the role. BS has been made-up terribly just to try and look "hot" at 59 years of age. It's all so forced. So fake. Zero chemistry. I'm embarrassed for everyone in this flick. And just last week I wondered what ever happened to Michael McDonald (from Mad TV). Here he is. Bit part of: the-gay-guy. (facepalm) Kudos for trying to emulate Phuket throughout. This hunk of junk needs a burial.

Let me be as shallow as the grave
14 October 2023
If ever you find yourself starring in a movie of any kind: Prepare.

The boyfriend being the worst actor, ever, we continued watching, half heartedly. The idea behind the man in the black hat, the shadow man, the dark man, is a common enough premise, however sleep paralysis and demonic possession are two different things. None of which was executed believably. I usually can watch just about anything supernatural but this was bad. The only good came from the priest. I am still looking at twenty more minutes before the end and cannot wait.

Let me be as shallow as the grave: The scariest part of this movie was the lead actress' skin.

Forgo this one if you crave frights.

Nothing but torture
4 September 2023
Skip this one you will thank me.

If you're into torture please search your heart.

This movie is gross and quite a disgrace. Nothing remotely close to Luther the-series.

Pathetic what gets green lighted these days.

I will write more here because IMDB is making me do so in order to post.

This plays into some sick minds.

If you enjoyed watching this crap shame on you.

And why Idris went ahead with this shows some very strange need for work and cash. Where's the integrity?

If you are into violence, sick torturistic horror then this stupid film is for you.

Terrible terrible terrible terrible (Reached my limit) Thanks IMDB.

God awful.
11 July 2023
This contains some of the worst acting.

This contains some of the worst dialog.

This has awful sets.

We had to shut it off.

We laughed and laughed at so much of the ridiculous inconsistencies.

This is TERRIBLE.

SO BAD! God awful.

I cannot believe all of those 9 and 10 stars, let alone the 8's and 7's. Truly a testament to fake reviews. Or pathetic taste in film. Or...perhaps everyone is stoned out of their minds laughing their butts off. WHO KNOWS?! Save yourself some time or lose more brain cells. Your choice, lol.

Each "actor" brought more and more stupidity to the premise. What's happened to IMDB?! THIS IS SOME SICK JOKE.

Excellent from beginning to end
9 July 2022
This was everything I enjoy in a movie.

Shot so well. Great direction. Composition.

THE COLORS!

Scenery and location perfection, colors sublime, creepy uncertainty, parallels to real life fears and emotions from loss, shock and awe.

Loved watching this. I knew it would be good but turned out to be excellent.

The wardrobe is enviable too. Loved all of the olive greens and pinks. The boots. Also how the hair was smooth and polished at the beginning and becoming more and more disheveled as it went on. Someone coming to grips with facing herself, facing what has happened, the horror, the relief, etc. No longer able to run away. Or hide.

I think this was well played.

I had a couple of cringe moments from gore but still find it needed for the story it was telling.

I adore Jessie Buckley (I'm Thinking of Ending Things) and was gladly surprised to see her leading in this. She is a force!

And Rory Kinnear I have loved since Penny Dreadful. His disconcerting episode in Black Mirror is also memorable. What fun he must have had with these characters and looks in this film.

Both actors nuances were dearly appreciated.

Watched it again today. 👍👍 Even better!

To each their own in film tastes. See for yourself.

Cool idea, great acting (initially) between Sissy and JK
22 May 2022
The actors are subpar.

Too many holes in story lines to even begin here.

By the second episode my interest started drifting. Watched all eight episodes, reluctantly. It got SO BAD I just shook my head in disbelief. And it was NOT the 'other planet' that had me disbelieving. It was the stupidly done scenarios.

Details are important.

Seems laziness ruled on this one.

Damn. I really wanted this to be good scifi. It wasn't.

Cool idea, great acting (initially) between Sissy and JK.

2 stars.

If this is your idea of romance I feel sorry for you.
12 May 2022
Every cliche known.

Cheesy.

Uninteresting.

Every bad trope used in the direction of this movie.

Not wholesome whatsoever no matter how hard they tried. This was painful to watch. The storyboarding alone should have been burned. Contrived action is very frustrating to witness. And there seemed to be nothing NATURAL about this movie, story, "romance", at all.

If this is your idea of romance I feel sorry for you.

*And as I am a creature of attention to detail, I feel the hair department should have paid closer attention to continuity as well. Ie: style, color, tone, extensions, etc. Call me picky. (shrug)

The Batman (2022)

So very disappointing
19 April 2022
Only cool part was Colin Farrell as The Penguin. *but that was down to mostly prosthetics

Was trying to like Robert Pattinson as The Batman but it got tedious.

Will not get started on Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman. *what a sad shame of a portrayal ME-OUCH

Jeffrey Wright annoyed me with his delivery.

Paul Dano disappointed me the most. *he's such a good actor, otherwise

Good to see Andy Serkis working.

John Turturro slipped into his Jesus Quintana a bit.

Overall the writing stunk, the action was boring. I fell asleep twice. Not what I was looking forward to at all.

THIS was not The Batman films of yore. And if I had paid to see this in a movie theater I would want my money back.

So very disappointing.

2 Stars because the color of the film was easy on my eyes.

Piqued my interest, two episodes in.
16 April 2022
Am curious to see where this will take me.

Simple fix for darker scenes: learn about contrast, brightness, sharpness, etc. On your tv.

Don't like tighty-whities, and men with no shirts?

I'm sure you have seen PLENTY of females, of all ages, in their bras and underwear throughout your tv watching years. Commercials included. Moreso than men undressed. Now that's a FACT.

Good to see the beautiful scenery shown so far. Can put myself right there riding and herding cattle. The hole, not so sure about but it's piqued my interest, two episodes in.

Hope it doesn't drop the ball. We need fully developed and written stories more than ever. Ones that may keep us off our handheld devices for more than five minutes. {wink}

To blame this content on the "current administration" shows complete ignorance.

As always, research for yourself what you want in and on your body. Be your own advocate.

Our country is full of very sick people, not only physically but mentally.

Nothing is 'safe'. Not our communities, not our foods, not our products. Keep learning and discerning.

Eat whole foods and use natural ingredients.

Live and love well and cure your hatred.

Enjoyable story, lovely sea views
13 April 2022
Kudos to all involved. I would not call their expedition a failure. It was incredible!

Sad to see all of the plastics in the water, but not surprised.

Do cruise ships still dump their trash off the back and into the ocean late at night? They did back in the late '80's. *does anyone ever wonder beside me?

Also, although human hair breaks down eventually, it's also a pollutant in the sea. Surprised they did not show more awareness. {{shrugs}}

Best wishes on your next endeavor.

Two stars for concept.
4 April 2022
I suffer from insomnia. Some shows I keep for those nights where dumb tv can do the trick. This is dumb tv. The drag is the sound. Light during dialogue then loud due to yelling. Yes, headphones could work, but honestly having this scripted dialogue that close to my brain just may make it explode.

This show is a BORE-FEST. The actors and direction is wretched!

Nice Twilight Zone feel and storyline, at first.

Episode 7 absolutely sealed the deal. *it was AWFUL

Two stars for concept.

Saturated colors are pretty, but that's about it.
27 March 2022
This show is a prime example of money thrown towards sets (elaborate), costumes (MANY), wigs (most ugly), etc. At the expense of poor acting, writing and story lines. The music tries to be hip but lacks.

Season 1 was bad mainly due to lead female.

(boring)

Season 2 is worse mainly due to lead male.

(over acting)

All of the acting tends to be very bad, along with the direction.

Saturated colors are pretty, but that's about it.

Great Ridley Scott sets and visuals but that's it
13 March 2022
SO MANY useless scenes.

Characters I do not care about.

Too many scenes that went nowhere, unresolved setups, uninteresting religious fodder 'story'line.

They should have paid more attention to the writing (which is juvenile at best) instead of hair styles and costuming.

The actors themselves are limited in their craft and hard to stomach.

Disappointing.

Great Ridley Scott sets and visuals but that's it.

(5 stars for the visuals)

So so bad
3 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Awful acting, zero intrigue, terrible writing. Stupid dumbing down of a movie. Cannot believe it was made! That baby at the end might as well been a toddler. (LAUGHABLE) Not a newborn.

From start to finish this was so so bad.

Lead actress should hang it up. God awful acting.

If you want a few laughs, at their expense, go on and watch this. Especially those chase scenes.

Should be zero stars. Gave it one.

Reacher (2022– )

Killing time. Waiting on better series/seasons to return.
7 February 2022
Full disclosure: I have not read the books. They wouldn't be my choice of reading material. I do like to let stories unfold without much external input. So I went into this series with fresh eyes and an open mind, albeit I'm just killing time until better series/seasons, or much anticipated series begin or return to tv. (ie: The Last Kingdom, Peaky Blinders, Valhalla)

At first clapping eyes on Alan Ritchson (Reacher) I paused, went back to see if what I chose to watch was an animated movie. He did not look real. So that was intriguing. I have appreciated a few laughs. The action is good. However, the acting is robotic. As in: I say my line, then you say your line. Rinse repeat. Which makes it uninteresting, stilted, and eventually, annoying.

Reacher: "But I've traveled all over the world, handled all kinds of currency." 28:35 of Episode 7 was cringeworthy. Yes, I particularly found E7 terrible.

If you like violence for the sake of violence with no truly interesting plot or crescendo to the storyline, and bad acting, this will be a 6-10.

For me I gave it 5 stars because it is by far not as bad as most crap being doled out these days by Netflix. It is background noise with the occasional glance up from my phone to view Alan Ritchson's (Reacher) much discussed stature. A distraction to say the least.

This Reacher character seems a bit arrogant, smug and egotistical. Not a good look, ever.

Watched all episodes. Glad it's over.

2 Stars for 1 laugh
30 January 2022
Was hopeful due to the title. Knew 20+ minutes in that I would be bailing on this crap.

The only laugh I had was when she filled her giant wine glass to the brim. *The laugh was not necessarily for the alcohol level but a personal habit of my own for overfilling mugs and glasses The eye rolls are for just about every horrid cliche and habit of the television and movie industry where eye makeup is never smeared after sleeping in it all night, or waking up with lip gloss perfectly applied, eye makeup and foundation still covering every inch, and crimped hair waves still holding their shape. Yeah, it may be a silly peeve in the land of make believe but how is anyone to believe any of the content thereafter? What is so bad about portraying older women without a constant beat face? Clean skin is actually beautiful. At least in appropriate times.

Kristen Bell is usually better than this. No?

It's a BORE-FEST. Uninteresting characters and situations. Cannot believe this is where we're at in 2022.

Glad I dodged the ever terrible actor Michael Early too!

Seems like many actors went to the Laura Linney school of stutter-acting in S4
23 January 2022
You know, I found this intriguing at first. It was a new series, something to watch. S3 really put a damper on things with Laura Kinney and her stutter-acting.

S4 was an entire slog.

I could not wait to get it over with.

Unable to keep my eyes open while watching made it all the harder. And it seems like many actors went to the Laura Linney school of stutter-acting.

So unbearable!

As for story. It was predictable, very contrived, formulaic, and annoying.

I don't find myself caring for any of the characters.

6 stars for scenery and S1/S2.

Giving it a go, but soundtrack and sound effects are awful
31 December 2021
I must confess, I am continuing to watch strictly for Cush Jumbo's wardrobe. That green belted cardigan in the first episode is drool worthy. But so far it's been impossible to find any details on it.

*aside from shady companies wanting $149.00 for a replica (shame)

On a different note, I am trying to understand the direction they are trying to take with this. The editing back and forth is also quite distracting. Not sure how long I will make it. (not finding it too interesting) And I so often enjoy British shows.

Torture? Really?!

Isn't Nicola Walker due for a new series soon?

PLEASE.

Thank You for sharing this story of love, vulnerability, courage, acceptance and strength. You are the kind of American family to be proud of in 2021. I am so glad I watched this series this evening. What a waste of Tom Cullen
15 November 2021
Same blank stares from Claire Foy. Weird decisions from McAvoy. And a waste of Tom Cullen. Always enjoy Gary Lewis. This film shows the dreary, wet yet beautiful Scottish Highlands. That was truly the only interesting part of this film. Glad I did not pay any money to view it. 👎👎 Two thumbs down. Too many pointless scenes to count. {yawn}

The usual. It's nearing the end of 2021 and bad movies are still being churned out a dime a dozen.
24 October 2021
Starts with grandma showing how youthful she still is. Grandson telling her how much better she looks than everyone else her age.

It stars Barbara Hershey whose face, jaw and neck have been pulled taut.

As we near the end of 2021 I am equally astonished, and almost horrified, by the stereotypical tropes being regurgitated ad nauseam in film. BORING!

And unintelligent.
