Lost in Space (2018)
Forget the original and focus on the new. This is GREAT escape!
You know....I watch TV shows like this for pure escape. I'm not going to take note (As some of these negative reviewers did) of apparent bad edits, bad scripts or lack of character development. .... that stuff just DOES NOT COMPUTE.
Its a TV show.. its not a blockbuster movie trying to win an award with a couple of thousand crew on retainer.
The SFX was great and the story line (So far) loosely based on the original 60's TV show which was also GREAT ~ in its day. (To watch it now requires much patience for its corniness, its just dated is all)
I liked the fresh attempts of re-imagining the characters, the Robot was AWESOME the writers tried to add a little heart an soul to this robot compared to the Babbling Boobyhead of the 60's version, the planet-scape was stunning albeit at times very 'studio'... so what?
This series of 10 episodes essentially deals with how the Robinson ended up lost in space in the first place... How Don and the Robot and Dr Smith came to be.
As a first season with all episodes released at once, its a great ride.
Dr Smiths female character was, for me, quite annoying as was the actor in general, probably a bad cast decision there. I also didn't agree with the marriage squabble and Maureen's controlling bitchiness. (Although, I'm pretty sure the writers are setting us up for a complete turn around here in the next series)
If you sit back and watch it for what it is, which is a PG rated Family show for everyone and don't believe the science too much and don't sit there pointing your finger, nit picking at it, you will be as I did several times 'punching the air' in tune with the the great soundtrack and blasting trombones of triumph.
Relax and actually WATCH this whole series and reserve judgement, you WILL enjoy it, you WILL be addicted to it. and like me you WILL be looking forward to the next season in which we may see a bit more of the 60's show story line with more space travel and unique planets for the Robinson's to encounter.
.
I would probably have given this an 8, but since some of the negative reviewers were far too critical of the production, after only having watched 20 bloody minutes of the first episode,, I gave it 10 in an attempt to balance those reviews out a little. :)
Red River (2011)
Absolutely Terrible
*some spoilers* (although the whole film is a spoiler)
This has to be the worst movie I have ever seen. It seems a bunch of people in some southern town in the US got their video camera out and had a go. ALL of the acting is worse than amateur. The local talent from this ... town/ location were all involved. All toothless overweight cow-hicks with nothing better to do than 'huck' 'huck' at the camera. The use of naked girls and their teenage boyfriends was completely wrong. They lent nothing to any thin semblance of a story at all. The mute with the voice box was inane.
Once the female reporter started running around with a halter neck dress and a black strapped bra on I stopped the movie.
What were they thinking?
The Secret (2006)
Inaccurate, juvenile.
The Secret has nothing to do with Greed and Affluence in monetary terms.
It is only those that think in this way naturaly that can discover their own guilt in this process.
The Secret simply talks about letting go of fear and that if you want something bad enough then it is up to you and you only, to achieve that desire.
Whether it be career, relationships, friendships or family aspirations. YOU have the control over how you feel about those and your ultimate discoveries and lessons in those.
Regardless of what position you find yourself in, irespective of your surroundings, YOU have the power to change your existence to what YOU want it to be.
Self insight is a powerful thing. Thats all The Secret teaches. Is power for your self, without relying on crutches of external influences.
Mr. Terrific (1967)
I loved it.
I remember this growing up in Australia. I was 6 years old. I loved watching this and have never forgotten the show. I have only re-visited the show, using the web just recently and had to make a comment in here, seeing as there wasn't any.
Dick Gautier was brilliant I remember him walking around acting like a turkey and uttering "Gobble gobble.. gobble"
The greatest American Hero was probably inspired by Mr Terrific, same kind of scenario of a Superman that was a clown. As someone said , "everything Clark Kent tried to be"
Directed by the one and only Jack Arnold his fame includes, Gilligans Island, Rawhide, Peter Gunn, Perry Mason, Love boat so much more..
I have been looking for recordings of this series.
Eight Crazy Nights (2002)
Excellent!
Maybe there are some unsavoury scenes in this movie.
Maybe some of the characters were a little far fetched.
Perhaps the animation wasn't as high budget as what we have now come to expect.
But all up this was a really good film with some great belly laughs in it.
Sandler doing the voices of .. was it 4 characters? Was brilliant.
A tame movie all the same, with an age old premise of local bad boy makes good, but some great adult humour in it.
I wish i had seen it in 2002 when it came out and not in 2006.
Kung fu (2004)
Big Load Of Rubbish
I just saw this on DVD and now i know why i avoid Kung Fu movies.
This was the biggest load of shite i have ever seen and a complete waste of my money.
I knew the acting was going to be bad because it is a Chinese production , but how this lot ever got paid for doing any of this is beyond me.
I tried to see some humour in it. I even laughed a couple of times. Mainly at the Character who wore the cowboy suit.
Imagination was lost in this move. Some of the fighting was OK.
Sorry, but this has put me off watching kung fu movies for life. Movies like this should be banned from reaching our screens.
