Hellraiser (2022)
Hell Raised
So I have been following the production of this film so I've it's inception nearly 12 years prior. Hell raiser is my favorite horror series and needless to say, I have been super excited for this reboot but a bit cautious because every horror reboot from the 80s(Exception being IT) has been horrible and disappointing. Well I thinks it's safe to say that Hellraiser has broken that trend and has joined IT as a successful reboot. Jamie Clayton performs The Priest beyond perfect and has the approval of Doug Bradley(Original Priest). The cenobites are terrifying, the story is solid and the acting beyond Ms. Clayton's performance, is on point. Hope this leads to some sequels of the same caliber.
Of a Grateful Nation (2017)
Nail On The Head
I came across this short film while browsing Amazon in search of something familiar and let me tell you, it's all TO familiar. From the opening moment of the main character was shown sitting on the couch with his hands trembling, I knew this was going to be a ride that so many of my brothers and sisters have taken. I will say that having experienced similar situations as portrayed in this film, it does hit the nail on the head with how ugly Post Traumatic Stress can affect our service members coming home from war. This film needs more recognition.
I felt the emotion and struggle right along with the main character until the bitter end. Please, if you or someone you know is struggling, get help.
Resident Evil (2022)
They Hunt By Sound!
This is a good show. As a fan of the source material, I love how they are taking the world of Resident Evil and expanding it. We've seen legacy characters, now we have something original and people complain. Don't listen to the cry babies. Watch this show and enjoy it for what it is, something new and different.
Captain Marvel (2019)
All Around Good Film
While some scoff at the very knowledge that a woman is being more superior to a man, others have fled to the reviews to bash this film solely based on the fact that Brie Larson kicks ass as Captain Marvel. The acting is spot on, the camera work is excellent and the soundtrack brings me back to my childhood. Loved this movie and the lead in to Endgame.
Last Chance U (2016)
After Two Seasons of Buddy the Bully.
My review for "Last Chance U" after watching two seasons.
I waited to write this review until I completed the second season of the show because I wanted to see if changes were made by Buddy Stephens. I am glad I waited because I now have even more fuel to throw at that overweight bully. In the first season, Coach Stephens has some choice words for his players after the massive brawl with Delta at the end of the first season. He refers to them as thugs and rednecks. He berates and insults them on a daily basis by telling them to "Shut Up" all the time. This man is no coach and it is obviously he only cares about his status as a coach rather than the players he coaches. Season one ends with EMCC being disqualified from the post season.
Season two opens with Buddy Stephens giving his "Woe is Me" speech and saying how he is going to change after viewing himself in the first season. He even goes as far and doing push ups for cursing. (That won't last long). After a few episodes he continues to berate his players by constantly telling the to "shut up" and goes as far as to tell his own coaching staff that they are terrible. The running back gets a serious injury, concussion, and is treated properly but when he sprains his ankle the coaches call him weak and punish him for being hurt. Coach Stephens is a horrible coach, he doesn't care about his players. He only cares about his National Championship, is JUCO Buddy not the NCAA, relax. At the end of the second season, the finale game, Buddy is shown having a one way conversation with Coach Wood, he is yelling and cursing at him, in front of the players mind you, and kicks him off the sideline. This guy kicked his own OC off the sideline. The show is good but Buddy Stephens is a real piece of work and terrible person. The loss in staff shows you he is impossible to work with and the only sad thing about the second season was Ms. Wagner leaving.
Battleship (2012)
From a Sailors point of view.
Yes this movie has cheesy acting and so what if it is based on a board game. As a Navy Veteran I was pumped up by this movie. Not only did they FINALLY make a movie for the surface going sailors but they managed to take a BOARDGAME and turn it into something interesting.
There are plenty of Navy movies out there for the Fighter Pilots, SEALs and Submariners, but how many can you name for the Surface going sailor. The deck seaman of the the fleet, the FCs and the DCs and MAs? Not many, The Sand Pebbles? That is about it. This movie is for the type of person who loves action, comedy and thrill. Peter Berg, god bless Friday Night Lights, is great. I give him mad props for taking this ridiculous idea and turning it into something worth watching. If you are expecting an Oscar nominated performance then stay at home. If you want a good movie to take your GF to, or want to be entertained then by all means go see it.
Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)
The Roar of Approval from the Audience said it all!!!!
So I am an avid movie goer and a fan of all Marvel movies, but this one takes the cake, well for now at least.
I knew from the start that if this movie wouldn't have been up-to-par the audience would strike back with vicious yells and profanity, because of the approval of The Amazing Spider-Man and The Dark Knight Rises trailers and the way no one said a thing after seeing the Sherlock Holmes trailer.
This movie starts off in the present of a group of guys finding a mysterious craft of some kind and inside it lies the frozen Captain America. We all may know about him being frozen from a snip it of The Incredible Hulk extras but it seems as if they have done away from that.
Cut to 1940's and we have a small wimpy but full of heart Steve Rogers trying to enlist into the Army. As you know form the trailer he gets rejected. I am not going to spoil the movie for anyone so I will let you go see it for yourself.
The acting was above par and the choice for Captain America and Red Skull were top notch. Chris Evans is most definitely Steve Rogers and not Johnny Storm. Hugo Weaving, as always, gives us a great performance as a Nazi Scientist trying to rule the world with god like powers. There was not one flaw in acting on either side and the effects were amazing.
Please if you are a fan of Marvel STAY AFTER THE CREDITS!!! You will not be disappointed at all!!
Go check out Captain America: The First Avenger NOW!!!!
