Too much melodrama
19 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
First the team ended season 3 with Maya as the mastermind driving Janvier to kill Lise.

Now season 4 finale has Baltazar charged with the murders of his childhood friends AND on the run. Real killer - his older brother.

Over acted
12 August 2019
I usually find Paddy Considine a wonderful presence but in this role he was (or is written?) as a full of himself inspector. Further, the acting is awkward.

The script based on a real case, I found to be lacking. Great actors under utilized except for Constance Kent and Mes Kent. They both projected better (over minimal script help) their role very effectively.

It started well and fell apart by season end
30 June 2019
It seems as if too many series now rush the end. Enjoyed how Nathan and Charlotte adapt to country life as supernatural events begin to present around them.

Some of the individual episode with the exception of the finale (E6) were well done in and of themselves but I could not tie them very well together. Gabriel as a ghost with closure issues - okay. The tie in to modern day Lora - maybe (being sentient to different eras?).

But the finale left a bad taste in my mouth. How did the writers and producers and BBC allow it to end on such a cliffhanger? No resolution and reward to those slugging it out for the entire season.

No one should have their name associated to this season
5 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I appreciate having the name recognition of Denis Quaid but it distracts from the story. Season 1 was great - creepy with the potential ob being timely with climate change and the release of unknown bacteria.

Sesson 2 was a little over the top with the serial killer and shaman v. Dan story lines.

Season 3 being shorter - a third of the other seasons almost - I expected more. And I kept hoping even as I was distracted by Denis Quaid. Big props fpr getting Michelle Failey though! The Sylvia (aka updated blood countess like character) was interesting as well.

We had no background on the "others" like Syvlia and Dan.

The ending was utter crap. Sylvia and Michael, losing Vincent and Natalie going like Liam and Margaret from season 1.

Ambitious attempt

The premise is fantastic but as I just finished episode 3, I've not yet found any of the plot lines unexpected. Rather I found the series unfolding with too many misdirections.

I am impressed with Stana Katic and Patrick Heusinger. The supporting cast members, including Adam (Ralph Ineson), Jack and Cara Theobold.

I think however the very tight 62 day shooting schedule showed in the show's feel/appearance to its detriment.
