Grease 2 (1982)
Shame on me- 39 years to watch this movie.
Grease was a huge part of my childhood. I seen it at the theater 22-23 times, can't quite remember the exact number. Of course owned the VHS, and the Special Edition DVD with cast interviews and the like. Seen it numerous more times. It was THE movie I cherished more than even the great Star Wars.
But, this is about Grease 2. I didn't want to watch Grease 2 when it came out. It didn't have John Travolta and Olivia Newton- John in it, therefore it seemed like a cheap imitation or at the time a shoddy low budget Broadway production. Why didn't they invest more money in it? Probably, just the passage of time. Silly Hollywood always moving at the speed of light. They were probably already bored with Grease and moving in new and other directions.
So I always shunned this movie. Let's jump a lot of time and come to the year 2021. Wow, we just went to hell and back in 2020 with the Covid-19 pandemic and the political darkness storm that plagued the great USA. A new day has come, the storms are passing as I write this, America is being shaken up, and we are being freed now. There is just so a great peace now that is moving all over the country. People are starting sense it. I have been 100% liberated from every storm and just been experiencing total peacefulness all around. So I see Grease and Grease 2 are coming on TV this day. After all the mess 2020, and a new beginning 2021, I say to myself, maybe, I should finally watch Grease 2. So I come here to IMDB and read a few reviews. They movie is rated horribly at 4.4 stars. But, the reviews, a lot of them, they say something different. And I decide, yes, today is the day that I will finally watch Grease 2.
Immediately, I was drawn right in this movie. The movie moves well, sometimes really fast, other times slower. Great balance. I was always into what was happening in 1961 and really I just ended up loving this great flick.
Grease 2 isn't really a simple film, Grease is a little simpler, in my opinion. Grease 2 comes out crazier than the original, but yet, it has it's tender moments as well. I think 2 has a lot things happen in it, but so does 1. 2 has a huge cast, 500, great music (I was really surprised), because the music from 1 was so great. The music styles are little different, I guess mainly the year differential. Kind of Rock and Roll High School versus Rock and Roll college.

Classic!
I love this cute little movie! It surprisingly to me, is actually a British product. Somehow, it seems to have a spirit of some of the great Christmas classics, such as "It's A Wonderful Life" and "A Christmas Carol", though it really has nothing to do with Christmas at all.
Far from a perfect movie, it definitely has it's flaws. The worst to me is the Father's crazy high pitched laugh. But, the movie as a whole kind of neutralizes this irritant.
The toddler is adorable, as is Shirley Jones. Beautiful and young, and her voice is lovely in the songs she sings.
One last note, this is a musical, but, it really doesn't seem like it, until someone starts singing. The musical numbers are placed well, and are few, and far between.
Never heard of this movie before, but in my first viewing, it strikes me as one of those " special" classics, that they just don't make any more. Recommend to those who feel as I.
