Foe (2023)
Slow-paced sci-fi, not for everyone
One of those slow-paced sci-fi movies that you're either into or not.
It reminds me a lot of movies like 'Z for Zachariah', stories with few characters where emotions are much more important than action.
I think this one is pretty good in this very niche genre; however, it's absolutely not for everyone.
All three actors played exceptionally well.
Saoirse Ronan's performance was really good, and she definitely did the job well of diverting attention from the actual events.
The tension between the two male lead roles, the uncertainty regarding the stranger's intentions in the context of Junior's wife, made the film gripping and kept the audience on the edge of their seats with interest.
Samaritan (2022)
This film was just asking to be R-rated
Especially in the last part of the movie it would be great to see more blood, broken bones and carnage.
A bit of wasted potential here.
Everything until the last part of the movie is good, I liked the pace and watching the slowly unwrapping story of our main character.
However, the final leaves you feeling unsatisfied. It should have been more brutal and gore.
I don't know why but the CGI only in the final part was just too clumsy. The green screen was just too obvious.
Both actors did a good job, and both of them were a little bit harmed by the ending.
Would love to see a continuation but in the R category, not 16+.
In overall I think it was nice movie, but definitely could have been better.
Halo (2022)
This is my first contact with Halo universe and I love this show
I read a little bit about the unhappy fans and I'm sorry players of the Halo game didn't get what they expected after showrunners made some changes to their beloved universe.
I really wish you showrunners will show the world you love, not the one they think is "better".
Nonetheless, as a sci-fi fan, I think this is a great show but probably a missed opportunity as apparently it could be a lot better.
Halo: Reckoning (2022)
Best episode so far
I agree that this is the best episode so far.
Just wanted to say a little bit in defence of the other episodes.
They felt maybe slower, definitely less action packed but I still feel they were very good paced and allowed me to learn more about the characters and world (I've never played or read anything about Halo before).
I wish I know more about what the artifacts are for and why Chief can interact with them - hope these will be answered this season.
For someone like me who don't have a clue what is happening yet I think this show is really good.
Last Looks (2021)
Good
The movie is not bad at all.
Very good performance by Hunman and Gibson.
Very slow at the beginning but it's getting more and more interesting as the story unreveals.
But the sound...
One of the most annoying sound experience in a very long time. Not because the music is bad, but because the volume levels are so uneaven. Dialogs are quiet, then loud, then quiet, music almost always is much louder than any dialogs.
I couldn't watch it without headphones. Just impossible if you like your neighbours and want to understand what the dialogs in the movie are at the same time.
Invasion (2021)
So slow you want to slap it in the face
The story is very interesting, acting pretty good, good music, great photos.
But the pace is soooo sloooooooow it's unbearable.
I hope the second season will be more reasonably directed.
5.4/10 and it has potential for being 7+/10 show. Just not with this pace.
Army of Thieves (2021)
Enjoyable
Good:
- acting
- story placement
- shots
- enjoyable
- humour
Bad:
- maybe a little bit too long
- predictable story
- some plot laziness.
It's a good movie, with a decent story. Not a masterpiece for sure but it is definitely far from being a bad movie.
Just an okay fun on lazy Friday's evening.
Acting seemed very good to me - especially the main couple - though I see a lot of comments that would suggest people didn't like them. Not sure why.
One actor look like a cheaper copy of Hugh Jackman but this I actually find really funny and I wasn't seeing it as bad thing.
I like the idea of making a completely normal heist movie, without any zombies in a zombie universum. Very unusual and interesting but I must say, I knew, there will be no zombies.
So lack of them wasn't disappointing for me as I knew what to expect.
Maybe people were expecting zombies and that's where the bad reviews comes from. Not sure.
I agree, the story was bit predictable and there were few plot sillinesses but it was enjoyable.
