Fast X (2023)
Don't
If you like just a minimum of logic behaviour or have any knowledge of physics just don't go there. We lasted 1 hour, but when it dawned on us that there was still more than half of the movie left, we agreed that we just couldn't go through with it. It was not fun, it was not exiting it was just embarrassingly stupid with illogical behaviour and over the top CGI.
The only bright spot in this miserable way too expensive piece of junk is Jason Momoa, who for once is allowed to act with something other than his muscles, and I would very much like to see him as a crazy psychopath villain again - but hopefully in a better film. We never got to the part where Jason Statham joins the movie and have no idea if he managed to lift the affair just a little bit.
Stay away from this movie. Or wait for the edition exclusively with the Jason Momoa scenes.
In the Dark (2015)
Entertaining little horror anthology with no bad CGI
If you like the early movies from PeterJackson and Sam Raimi, you may like this. The three stories keep a nice pace, almost all effects are practical and there is a mix of old classics without being totally plagiarism. It is no masterpiece and looks low budget, but is quite fun. The "story" tying things together is almost nonexistent and has a predictable stupid ending, but is fortunately easy to ignore.
Godzilla (2014)
This is actually not a Godzilla movie
Way too little Godzilla, and at times I just wanted it to end. The 3D is filmed with blurry backgrounds and from time to time annoying shadows from people in the front. I get the idea, just don't think it works.
The only reason I gave it 4 is the beautiful shots and the little you see Godzilla.
Better save your time and money and watch the old Godzilla movies or If you want breathtaking monster action and nice effects, watch Pacific Rim instead. Don't think I'll ever pay money to see a movie from that director again.
The Fog (2005)
Beautiful....
Not a movie for every one I agree. Some people might get disappointed by the "The Fog" 2005 edition as it most of the time is a surprisingly quiet and absolutely not scary horror movie. But if you watch as a poetic ghost movie and pay attention to the pictures and the scenery it is one of the most visually beautiful movies of the decade. And as things at last heat up also quite entertaining.
John Carpenters version is far more scary and crude (and funny). Even though the two versions are using the same plot they are really not fitted to be compared to each other as they are using completely different languages to tell the story. If you liked "Stigmata"- go watch the new edition. If you didn't, you'll probably be better of with the old.
