Le ruffian (1983)
Falls apart after the prologue
Starts absolutely masterful and then nosedives hard, sadly.
The amazing Lino Ventura plays a rough prospector in the rocky mountains, at least we're lead to believe that. After a stunningly directed and framed violent and exciting prologue full of beautiful landscape photography scored with a Ennio Morricone soundtrack the movie transforms into an awkward garbled mess that doesn't really know what it wants to be.
I have rarely seen a movie nosedive this hard. I would have loved if the movie had stayed a rough wilderness survival adventure piece with a solo Lino Ventura fighting nature and bandits.
But as it is I can only recommend everyone watch the movie until Lino Ventura arrives in the city and immediately destroy the DVD or Blu-Ray they're watching, to keep the great impressions of the first arc and spare themselves the sour note of a completely blundered premise.
The Hills Have Eyes II (2007)
One of the worst Horror movies ever made.
"The Hills Have Eyes 2" is a horror picture about a group of national guard rookies fighting what appears to be cave trolls. The movie starts with a birth-giving scene and contains one and a half rape sequence. That's all you have to know about the plot.
Horrible, cliché ridden and predictable script with dull conversations, bad to mediocre directing and gaping logic holes, racist stereotype characters and monsters that look like trolls from a straight to DVD fantasy movie, rather than mutated freaks, make this movie already a terrible mess when finally a guest appearance of "Sloth" from "The Goonies" hands it the final blow, turning it ultimately hilarious albeit in a tragic kind of way. What's almost as annoying as the cheesy dialogs and terribly bad monster costumes is the CONSTANT use of jump scares at blatantly obvious moments, making them obsolete and lose all the impact they might have had if a more skilled director would have placed them at least a bit more carefully.
Overall this movie is terrible and shouldn't be watched by anyone.
