Years and Years (2019)
Tells a lot, doesn't show anything.
When you make a film or write a book, there is one rule you should never break, the show-don't-tell rule. This series breaks it, and breaks it. And breaks it some more. Every single scene tries to centerpiece some futuristic gadget in it without it furthering the story. Every single conversation between the characters ends up being a discussion about some dystopian event that may or may not take place in the near future. But it's just too frigging much. They are trying to cram too much in it without it helping the story. I feel like I hear the maker of the series speak through the characters. It's very thin. And very unconvincing.
Reckoning (2019)
Where is the plot in this show?
This series features a storyline that meanders into thin air. There's no progression in the plot and no development in otherwise totally inconsistent main characters. I have a hard time understanding what this show is about, or where it wants to go. I don't think the makers didn't know either.
