Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (2017)
Flow & Continuity
Let me start by saying this: I didn't hate The Last Jedi, there were aspects of the film that I liked and some (many) that I didn't. But my overall opinion on TLJ comes from the fact that I have watched every Star Wars movie time and time again including TLJ, and every time I watch it I find myself disliking it even more, here's why...
Aspects I didn't like:
1. The way Luke's character was written. I can understand Luke's concern for Rey's raw strength, but no one and I mean NO ONE wanted or expected to see Luke toss his lightsaber behind his head like it was some meaningless toy, that was just an example of the terrible writing that his character received. Luke's persistence for the Jedi Order to end May as well have insinuated that he wanted the First Order to rise, it just didn't make any sense. Finally, I wish that Luke would've actually appeared for his showdown with Kylo Ren, that would've been a killer lightsaber duel, and we were robbed of it.
2. Holdo. When I watched this in the theater, I just couldn't understand why Holdo was made out to be a coward by not telling anyone her plans (I was convinced at that point she was a traitor) and then sacrifice herself like that, again, lazy writing.
3. Rose and Canto Bight. A LOT of time would've been saved if Rose was left as a minor character and the whole Casino Royale business on Canto Bight would've been cut from the film. I personally didn't have much of a problem with Rose except the fact that she came across as a bitter person, it was the Canto Bight nonsense. All that they needed was the code breaker, instead it became what felt like a 30 minute affair of riding a horse to safety and being predictably betrayed by some sketchy code breaker, it all just felt so wrong. And then there was Rose, who wasn't so bad until she ruined Finn's epic moment. Finn was hell bent on sacrificing himself to end the Battle of Crait which would've been gut wrenching but amazing, instead, we were given a forced romance.
4. Pacing. The movie's terrible pacing puts it on par with Attack of the Clones, a movie where you don't even see Count Dooku-who's supposed to be the main villain-until an hour and fifteen minutes into the movie. The first sequence of the Dreadnought'a destruction provides a lot of promise for a fun, action-packed movie; however, the film easily bores as the action decreases more and more until the First Order tracks the Resistance through light speed, where the action picks up again, until it slows down more and finally picks up again about an hour and a half later when Kylo Ren kills Snoke. Another example of lazy and off-beat writing.
Aspects I liked:
1. The Throne Room. One of the few impeccable scenes of the film where Kylo Ren kills Supreme Leader Snoke, this is followed by Kylo and Rey teaming up to duel Snoke's Praetorian Guards. This scene alone almost made up for the 1 and 2/3rds of an hour snooze fest that preceded. The chemistry, the choreography and more make this scene amazing.
2. Kylo and Rey's Force connection. Although it is controversial, Kylo and Rey's connection through the Force displays their chemistry to perfection and elaborates upon their power of being a dyad in the Force (as described in The Rise Of Skywalker).
3. Yoda. Yoda's appearance in the movie was awesome, mainly because it expanded the powers of a Force Spirit; also, Yoda had to appear at that point to talk some sense into Luke by subtly encouraging him to let the past die and confront Kylo Ren.
The title of this review is Flow & Continuity which, in terms of any movie, is essential because in order to make an enjoyable movie, you must maintain flow and continuity with the storyline by respecting previous notions created by a movie's predecessor (in this case, The Force Awakens), and you must maintain flow with the pacing of the film mainly with this example: if you start with an action-packed opening, you cannot let the action just decrease or the audience will lose hope and interest. TLJ has no flow and continuity, not with the storyline first instituted in The Force Awakens, and DEFINITELY not with pacing.
Frasier: Hooping Cranes (2001)
From WAY Downtown
Redemption once again for Season 8. Loved this one
In this episode, Niles and Frasier accompany Martin to a Sonics game, but Niles is selected to do a half-court shot, he makes it, miraculously, and Frasier gets jealous.
Great episode, go watch.
Frasier: The Great Crane Robbery (2000)
A Truly Bad Episode
We all know that Frasier went downhill after Season 7's finale, but this one kind of sealed the deal.
In this episode, Frasier takes in a pupil, and while he is stoked to become a mentor, the pupil soon takes too much from Frasier, completely remodeling (or robbing) his condo. Meanwhile, Niles and Mel attempt to stage their divorce.
After Season 7's finale, this episode proves just how bad the quality drop was. Did not enjoy this one
Frasier: Fraternal Schwinns (2003)
Cycology
A great episode from a decent 10th season
In this one, Frasier enters a AIDS Bike-A-Thon for KACL, although he doesn't know how to ride a bike. Daphne and Niles then enter and it gets funny.
The training sequence is especially hilarious. Watch and see
Frasier: Ask Me No Questions (1997)
Q&A
An episode that grabbed my attention and kept it.
In this episode, Niles asks Frasier if he thinks that Niles and Maris are meant to be together, like usual, Frasier over analyzes the question and turns to every source he knows. Until he finally came to a conclusion
Go watch and see if Frasier says yes or no
Frasier: Roe to Perdition (2003)
Bank Error In Your Favor
One of my favorites from Season 10...
In this episode, Frasier and Niles buy a specific kind of caviar from a Russian Mafia person, which they discover to be delicious, but once they make broad promises, their cards do not stack up. Meanwhile, Martin is schooled on karma by Daphne after an ATM gives him more money than he bargained for.
Go watch and see what happens
Boy Meets World: Prom-ises, Prom-ises (1998)
Boy Meets Farce
Probably My favorite episode of the series
In this episode, Senior prom has Cory thinking about taking his relationship to the next level, while Amy reveals she is pregnant, Eric soon begins to think that Alan is cheating on Amy.
This episode is also unique to be one of the only episodes to have farcical elements.
But in the end, it all boils down to non-stop funny
Frasier: Hot Pursuit (2000)
The Dateless Duo
Not one of the best episodes of Frasier, but sure to get a laugh or two.
In this episode, Frasier attends a seminar, and while his room is not ready, he shares a room with Roz, in which they try to find dates at the party at the bar, both failing. Meanwhile Martin goes on a stakeout and Niles attends with him, which soon begins to irritate Martin.
In The End, Kenny ends up ruining potentially one of the most significant moments in the show's history. See what it is for yourself.
Frasier: Decoys (1999)
Doesn't Anyone Want To See That Sunset?
An Episode that had me laughing out loud!
In this one, Niles is getting over the fact that Daphne and Donny, his divorce lawyer, are a couple. Niles invites the Crane clan to his cottage for the weekend, including Roz and Donny - Who are exes. Niles and Roz plan a diversion to get Roz and Donny back together so that Niles can take a shot at Daphne, from there, it just gets funnier and funnier!
Martin has a funny one-liner and Frasier has lots of funny lines. A great episode overall. Classic Frasier.
The Goldbergs: We Didn't Start the Fire (2017)
The End Of A Sluggish First Half
I love the Goldbergs and always look forward to watching every Wednesday, but this season, the first 8 episodes have not been enjoyable.
But this episode was great. In a throwback to Billy Joel's 'We Didn't Start The Fire', Adam and Barry attempt to recreate the song for the school talent show, but chaos ensues.
Hoping for a change to occur in the second half of the season after the largely forgettable first half.
Still yet, this episode was a joy and a great mid season finale
Frasier: Daphne's Room (1995)
Someone's Always In Daphne's Room
This episode is to date one of my personal favorites.
The episode starts out innocently enough as Frasier goes into Daphne's room to get a book, but he snoops around and is caught in the act, taking her medicine with him, he sneaks into the room again, and the funny begins!
Go watch and see the rest of the funny.
Frasier: Dinner Party (1999)
The Attempted Dinner Party
This is not only a very unique episode of Frasier, but also hysterically funny.
In this episode, Niles and Frasier spend the entire 22 minutes attempting to plan a dinner party on a date that works for everyone, first getting over the obstacle of Martin's Poker Night, then trying to find guests. But it all comes down to a disaster. A very unique episode overall, considering it is all in real-time
Watch for yourself and witness funny in action!
Frasier: Merry Christmas, Mrs. Moskowitz (1998)
Frasier's Christmas Farce
Probably the funniest if not the best Frasier episode I've seen.
In this episode, a woman in a store spots Frasier buying his son Frederick a Menorah for Hanukkah and, suspecting Frasier is Jewish, sets him up with her daughter. The funny begins when the mother and daughter come to Frasier's condo, Martin attempting to be Jewish is pretty funny, along with Frasier trying to keep up the ruse...
But Niles steals the funniest moment in the show! Go watch and see it.
Frasier: Breaking the Ice (1995)
Ice Fishing With The Cranes
In my opinion, this is one of the best episodes of Frasier.
In this episode, all that Frasier wants is to hear Martin say 'I love You' to him, but trying gets him to join him and Niles ice fishing after Martin's friend Duke opts out, afterwards the Crane v. Crane rivalry begins!
Niles has some funny one liners, along with Frasier. But the end result of the bickering is better than itself
Go watch and you'll be hooked on the Ice Fishing parts
