Bad acting, but great cinematography!!
22 October 2007
OK so the story line is different but the characters are cliché and the actors are appalling. Especially the lead actor (Kristine Blackport), she thinks too highly of her acting abilities and you can definitely tell! I'm really surprised that she is the lead actress in this movie, I mean it has independent written all over it, but still she is atrocious, many of the extras could probably have done the role/movie more justice. The music also doesn't help at all, it's annoying at best. The only thing that made this movie watchable was definitely the cinematography! It was artful and flowing and did the most towards helping understand what was going on, although the scene changes were a little jumpy, visually this film was great! Acting-wise it was beyond poor!

Viva Laughlin (2007)

Attention, there will be no talent!

Attention, there will be no talent! This is what should be played before the show starts. I haven't seen "Blackpool" but if it's anything like Viva Laughlin then i don't really care. Not only was this show hard to watch but it was incredibly presumptuous. With annoying, unrelatable stock characters trying to slip smoothly into likable characters was like watching the proverbial grass growing. And just when you think that maybe halfway through the show they might have a twist to interest you in seeing the next episode.. well there isn't! No one wants another compulsively suspicious detective chasing thin air or a family who is so boring and cliché that you'd rather go to sleep because that'd be more entertaining than watching this show! And what on earth is with the singing(miming)? And who wants yet another casino show? HUH? SERIOUSLY??!! ARGH!! Can I be the first but hopefully not the last to say, "What the hell Hugh Jackman!" I mean talk about cringe-worthy experiences! I am all for a new series, i'm very open to new ideas and even old ideas made better but this "Viva Laughlin" is garbage, maybe worse because some garbage can be recycled into something better.

I'm not the evil your looking for..... right.....

I didn't know what to expect from this movie. It started out interestingly i guess, gets quite into the plot quite quickly which is nice because it indicated that it had something that it could actually introduce.

I'm a little ashamed to admit it but the so-called Christ scared me a lot. And i was a little confused as to the nature of the 3 omen bringers. But if you watch carefully, the signs are there! The cinematography was excellent! Seriously, it was a joy to the eyes, even though the acting was a little hard to follow at points and i did find it hard to connect with the protagonist but persistence actually payed off in this movie.

I did like it that the Christians can criticize themselves in this movie. I am a Christian and there is nothing more annoying in us but when we cannot admit that we aren't perfect. So that was a nice change as well.

Overall a good movie, but i really do hope to see the same cinematographer and maybe even director in more exciting and relatable plots. But this is an interesting interpretation of what might come...

robots or humans?

I personally liked this movie because of the theme it portrayed. It was wonderful to see the alikeness to 1984 and also a little bit of Matrix... but in saying that, they could have toned it down a little.

The fighting scenes were awesome, don't get me wrong i liked them, i just felt really detached when one man could single handedly kill over 8 without a single bruise. But its the future so i will give them that.

I loved the fact that they showed children in the totalitarian environment, nowhere is safe, not even your home. Forget the telescreen, the programmed people of this new solutionary civilization are the reporters.

There is always something that is the symbolic cause of this problem, the revolutionary new emotionless side effects of the shot that must be taken twice a day is excellent. Presenting an injection, something foreign and generally unliked among the population.

Overall a great movie, lots of thought provoking and action with a meaning behind it too!

The Hard Corps (2006 Video)

good ole H2O...

Alright, opening scene... scenes from Iraq and flashbacks to a guy sitting on a bed somewhere and then to a boxing match. Make no sense? Well it doesn't get much clearer The whole movie is riddled with useless scenes from the 'horrific past' that our protagonist faces... but its useless. The entire feel of 'gangster' is just sad.

The lines feel forced and encourages so many stereotypes its not funny. The relationships formed are confusing at best and the scenes seem like they are forced to be what they are... somehow the director has made even the scenes hate themselves.

I would equate this movie to someone trying to dance right after having been beaten up with 2 broken legs and being made to do so by gun point.

The movie is ridiculous with unfunny jokes, annoying characters and ridiculously unnessesary scenes.
