Dirty Lines (2022)
Trip down memory lane
Being 17 in 1989 and living under the smoke of Amsterdam, this series has nailed the Zeitgeist for sure. Dancing in Dansen Bij Jansen, the illegal houseparty's in the Silo, it's exactly how it was back then and I really enjoy being thrown back in time. Plus it's a great history lesson, but only in the background, not only about the transfer from disco to house music in the Netherlands and the introduction of extacy, but also about the start of the gay subculture in Amsterdam.
Besides the nostalgia, it's a good series. The characters are lovable and the acting is good.
Dig Deeper - Das Verschwinden von Birgit Meier (2021)
Had to turn it off
It's probably a good show, but I got very annoyed by hearing the German voice under the English voice. That was a dealbreaker for me. So I turned it off. Too bad, I normally like these kind of shows.
Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo (2021)
Christiane F
Being a teenager in the eighties (in Amsterdam), I grew up with Christiane F. All kids my age read the book, mostly because it was on the school booklist, but it was a really popular book too. Everybody knew Christiane F.
This series throws me right back in the eighties. The clothes, the music, the atmosphere. David Bowie was so important to so many people back then. I love how the makers captured it all so well.
I think it deserves more than a 6,3, that is why I gave it an 8.
The Wilds (2020)
Better than I expected
I started watching because I didn't have anything else to watch, but man am I pleased I did! It kept me hooked very quickly. I liked the actresses and their interacting. Fatin and Dot were my favorites!
I appreciated how all of their appearances changed for the worse, the longer they were on the island. That made it believable.
It had good drama, but not over the top. It had tension and humor. And the story is interesting. I really liked it and can't wait for season 2!

Unsolved Mysteries (2020)
John or Jack?
The show started with the victim being called John Weeler and suddenly his name is Jack?
But, I do like this new format and the fact that it's one story per episode. More room for the backgrounds and the details.
The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020)
Loved it but need answers
I really liked The Haunting of Hill House and was not disappointed about Bly Manor. I realized quite early that Hannah was dead, which made me wonder who else was dead. I still don't know.
During the show I developed all kinds of theories. One of them is that Hannah is suffering from Alzheimer and we're looking at what is going on inside her mind. They were talking a lot about Dementia in the first few episodes.
Then I thought they were time traveling, then that they were all dead and in purgatory.
Please other reviewers, enlighten me with your theories.
The Turning (2020)
I got it
Looking at all these bad reviews, I'm glad I watched The Turning anyway. It seems that the people who wrote the bad reviews, didn't get it. This is so much more than a horrorfilm, it's a psychological thriller and you have to pay attention very well to understand what it all means. There is one (positive) review on here (from Deemarx) that explains it really well. My recommendation is to watch the film first and then read that review, and then watch it again to see what all those people missed. I love films like this, where you have to think deeper and see further.
When They See Us (2019)
Shocking
This series are based on a true story, I remember reading about it. It's absolutely shocking to see how the American system stole these boys' childhood and future. The police and justice department manipulated and lied to get false confessions, they scared those little boys by beating them and threatening them. I burst into tears several times watching the horror that had been done to them.
The acting was great, especially the actor that played Korey was amazing.
A must see.
