The Circus: Inside the Greatest Political Show on Earth (2016)
It was so good and then it wasn't....
10/10 for season one it really tried to show politics in America as it was unfolding and wasn't trying to pick a side but that all changed as the seasons progressed. People are desperate for shows that are more in the middle but this just ended up cheerleading for one side. American politics is a political circus but anyone can see it's a circus from both the Republicans and Democrats.
If people wanted that they could put on their cable show and select their bias but we are looking for something different. For someone like myself who isn't left or right and wanted to just witness the political landscape, this is so disappointing.
Anastasia (1997)
Lacked a story and non stop singing
The story was hard to get invested in once a song broke out every 10 minutes. Completely ruined the storyline. My 10 year old walked away and my 6 year old said this is boring with 30 minutes left and asked to turn it off.
The Way I See It (2020)
Great photos but got too political
The first hour showed an excellent account through photographs of the Obama administration but the last 30-40 mins took a turn and was a typical Trump bashing. Not a fan of Trump and really only wanted to get his perspective of Obama.
Australia in Colour (2019)
Amazing footage but falls short
The old footage is amazing to watch in colour and it gives you a glimpse into what life was like 50-100+ years ago but it falls short in the documenting and explaining the times/history, often brushing over events in a few minutes.
It focuses too heavily on Sydney and New South Wales events and most of the other cities just get a brief mention from time to time. It would've been great to see Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane and Melbourne with more footage and compare what was happening more around the whole of Australia. It should be renamed 'New South Wales in colour.'
Worth the watch to see the footage and history but it's definitely framed in biased manner. When discussing women and the workforce and getting equal pay passed in 1969 and then the narrator (Hugo Weaving) adds "And the gender pay gap still exists today in Australia." after women in the 60's were actually paid less for the same work and implying they still are today? The idea that modern Australia, women are paid less for doing the exact same job is not only against the law but has been debunked for years.
Overall ignore the biased narrative the documentary wants to portray Australia as and just enjoy the beautiful images.
