The Engelbert Humperdinck Show (1969)
Best opening ever
Best opening of ANY variety show EVER. Previewing the guests the building music got me hooked. No A-list stars but who cares, Boiler Plate, cookie cutter show and not to pushy. But real nice easy on the eyes and ears. Fun with the tom jones rivalry and I would love to see if him or tom jones ever took any of the keys thrown on the stage and went up to the room to meet the women I'm just going to ramble on now to fill up the space but I invite you to you tube to check it out. Also found outlaws which lasted a whole 12 episodes but ws way ahead of its time....too bad for weak scripts, dull stories.
Frontier Marshal (1939)
Forgotten diamond of a movie to put on your list
Early work of. Randolph Scott and Cesar Romero in their prime. The give and take and interaction of the two leads is a joy to behold. The movie is on a shaky premise, but entertaining from begining to end. Now on my list of a gem that was passed over.
How to Marry a Millionaire (1953)
this movie earns at leadt an 8 or higher/
All the talent here are in their prime. William Powell as smooth and dashing as ever. Fred Clark at the top of his game. Even the bit part of Rory Calhoun (shunned so long by Hollywood fits). And just to be on the set as the three women compete for face time and try to one up another for performance would be a treat. 10 out of ten for a movie as great as singing in the rain.
The Donna Reed Show: The Swingin' Set (1962)
big boo-boo
Look at patricia lyon's left hand during the dance scene. Here she is 19 years old and dancing at the prom and she's wearing her wedding ring, because she just got married to robert fuller, 10 years her senior. Way to go bob! All the guys are dancing with a married woman.
Westward the Women (1951)
this should be remade
Just stumped how this was not even under academy consideration. Robert Taylor gives an oscar worthy performance. This would be perfect for tom shellack in his early days. Any nominations who should do the robert taylor role in the remake?
