As soon as it opened with a song from Cigarettes After Sex, I knew that I was in for a treat - and a treat it was. There is heartfelt/genuine acting from everyone in it and they all played their roles really well and convincingly, but Aidan especially shined to me in this...as a fan of the UK's Being Human, I was pleasantly surprised. It is filled to the brim with beautiful cinematography: whether it be the sceneries/locations, background details, wonderful homages to other beautiful cinematography that came before (I absolutely loved the Buster Keaton reference), all of the shots (and therefor the movie in general) really just enchant you. There are some eccentric bits in the movie throughout that although can sometimes feel like overkill, you can't be all that mad at because they were executed really well, and at least for me, added to the overall charm. With the story itself being interesting and the dialogue tending to be deep and meaningful (with some wonderful one-liners scattered about), this combined with the cinematography really makes the poeticism of this film apparent. Overall, it's a sweet, quirky and sincere INDIE film, and I'm so glad that I found it.

It has been a long time since I've written a review for a movie, but for this one, I just had to. It can be seen as slow and it's an Australian indie, but it makes for a wonderful film. The cinematography was stunning, the script was heartfelt and clever, the soundtrack fit perfectly - especially towards the end. The concept behind this film is inspiring and unlike something I've ever seen. It's touching, it's funny, it's sweet, and there are certain moments of intimacy between characters that were so subtle (they felt like little inside jokes or references) that they really made this feel believable, which I definitely accredit to the actors and everyone else who made the overall feelings of heartache but hopefulness that was present throughout possible - they did amazing. I loved it.

It is currently almost 2AM where I am and I just finished binging the whole show in a span of a few hours and let me just say, what a beautiful show. It was genius, shot beautifully, the acting was impeccable in the fact that these actors did not seem like actors, more so just regular people just like you and I who have problems as humans do. Idk...I loved it. Scratch that, I really loved it. Anything where I can feel the humanness, the rawness and relatability of something is something that I will always treasure and keep with me: and this this show is just that. Oh and not to mention that it is absolutely HILARIOUS. The humor is clever and random and wry and will truly provide you some good laughs (which nowadays we all need). Thank you Tim and everyone else that helped create this masterpiece.

It's been quite awhile since I've actually written out a review for a movie, but since this one has so few reviews and therefor a pretty low rating, I feel obligated to. So, here it is: this film is cute, it's legitimately funny, the storyline is fun, the acting is good (for an indie film), each character actually has a fair amount of depth and/or personality to them, there's these really wonderful quirky bits of animation scattered throughout the film which I personally love, and the fun angsty music soundtrack is really good too, and somehow perfectly fits the overall Buffalo, New York-ness of the film that is very present - the music, the snow, the bagels, the dreary bars and daytime drunks...it's got it all, and I loved every bit of it. Maybe you will too, give it a shot! :)

This movie was not what I was expecting when I glanced over it at first, but I am so happy that I decided to give it a chance. Though I don't feel like I have the capacity to be eloquent with my review right now, I just want to get mine in the mix in order to combat the bad ones that this movie has for whatever reason: because this movie, in my opinion, is the complete opposite of bad!!! It was beautiful. First of all, the cinematography was stunning. Seriously. The lighting, the camera angles, the beautiful effects that they had intertwined throughout had me in awe constantly. The soundtrack of the film was incredible too, just like another reviewer previously stated, it really did fit the film perfectly. Not to mention that one of my favorite songs ever that I didn't think anybody really knew much of was in the background of a scene and when I heard it, I freaked the hell out to say the least. It was seriously such a wonderful surprise for me to have that included in it. Story-wise, I can see how people thought it was slow or that it didn't make a lot of sense to them and that's what lost them - initially, I was on that boat too, as I had absolutely no idea where it was going. But along the way it clicked for me, and I personally really liked the story that was presented. I mean yes, it could've been improved (just like everything can be), but for what it was, I loved it and I'm sure that if you give it a chance, you will too :)

I've just finished this film, and with tears running down my cheeks from the feel good-ness of it all, I'll attempt to type out this review...if you're a hopeless romantic, or idealist, this movie's for you. As I am one, if not both of those, I see the takeaway (that many of the reviewers here seem to be missing the point of) being that you can't spend all of your time and efforts romanticizing or idealizing a perfect life or even the 'perfect' you, because you miss out on the real one when you do. Plus, as in the case of the movie, when you do romanticize your life or who you could be, you might miss out on something beautiful that's a part of your life already. It's lovingly quirky, the cinematography is wonderful, the soundtrack is lovely, the story is detailed, the characters are not one-dimensional, there's a naturalness between the characters and overall humanness that you can just feel throughout the film. And overall it's just a really sweet movie about a girl who's trying to figure out her life and her relationship. Give it a shot, you might really like it like I did :)

This movie is such a joy to watch. There's so many aspects of the film that I found both incredibly well done (and high budget) for an indie, and unique towards the overall feel of the story: from the character costumes/sets to the transitions/dialogue and all the quirky bits in between. One thing in particular that I picked up on from the very beginning is that I feel like this movie is a somewhat commentary on millennials since the couple themselves are in their mid-twenties (maybe nearing 30?). Don't get me wrong, it is NOT negative commentary (it might be in a making fun of themselves kind of way) and rather it very much embraces all of the things that millennials do and all of the traits that we share as a generation. I mean there's just so many little things like mannerisms, ways of thinking and a few references included throughout the movie that if you're a millennial too, you'll enjoy more of because you understand or can relate to them and/or you definitely know someone that's like that or would do that same thing that they're doing in the film. I'm not sure if any of this was Diani and Devine's intent (which serious props to them for making this film because of its awesomeness), but it's definitely something that had me smiling and laughing throughout because it made me feel like I was watching myself in one of the many difficult situations that they had to deal with and there's just something so comical and even surreal about that. Apart from that though the film in total is just clever: it's quirky, it's clever, it's sweet. It's not intense, it's actually well written, acted and directed, and there's a lighthearted aspect to something as not-so-lighthearted as the apocalypse from beginning to end which makes it even more fun. I feel like there's even more to say about this movie, but I think you should just watch it and find out for yourself.

This arthouse film left me speechless, honestly. I really appreciated all of the visual effects, and was already impressed with the film just from the title sequence montage...I thought it was beautiful, and couldn't wait to see what else was in store. For the most part, this movie is a narrative: you follow Dory along his journey of being a janitor and all the eccentric characters that come with it but don't get me wrong, it's not a boring narrative. There's countless really well done visual effects added throughout the movie that really just give it so much more character, alongside of course the cast of the supporting characters themselves that really take up lives of their own and leave you interested the whole time. I saw people mentioning that the acting fell short, but I've got to disagree and say that I found each character emitting quite a sense of themselves - enough for them to be quite believable and for you, the audience member, to not disregard them. Since to me, they all add to the charm of this movie. I thought that Dory shined, but I was most intrigued by OC and his persona. Anyways, because the eccentricities of all of the characters come across so clearly in their portrayal, the rather monotonous narrative of janitor-life is anything but. That being said the twist that comes at some point is really where it will either hook you in, or lose you completely - it just depends on you. I find this film hard to pick apart or judge because there's actually a lot of meanings and subtleties throughout that could actually lead you to getting meaning from it that I wouldn't even know how to mention. Much like Eraserhead, it's not just some bizarre arthouse movie, there's something deeper that they're hinting at - it's up to you to find it and interpret it how you will.

It's hard for me to put into words what to say about this movie...however, what I can say is that it's beautiful. It made me go through all the emotions that I could've possibly went through, and correct me if I'm wrong, but there are not many movies out there that can do that. Besides that, it crossed just about every genre by both being blatant about it, and projecting a feel of one (even if just for a second) seamlessly - which takes talent. They jump in and out of time without it feeling overwhelming or losing the story along the way, as many films made in a similar style do. I saw someone comment earlier here that the story was "predictable" and well, I do not agree with that since you'll be intrigued by what is presented throughout the whole time: it keeps you on your toes, because you, just as Harris begins to figure out, know that there's something up - but you're just not sure what. Until once it's revealed, and completely throws you through a loop (at least, that's what it did with me). Alongside it's originality, you just can't help but appreciate the wonderful cinematography (in fact, I was already pretty in love just from what was presented in the first 20 minutes) found throughout, as well as the vulnerability in its characters. Honestly, I really don't have anything bad to say about this film, and am so glad that I found it.

I wasn't going to write a review, but seeing that this is only being represented by one person who didn't like the movie, I feel obligated to. I found this to be an absolutely lovely indie film. It's about love, daydreaming, ideals, coming to acceptance and realizing that what you wanted was right there all along...you were just too busy looking at the outcome to see it. Something that I'm sure we can all relate to, and all of which I, as a 21 year old hopeless romantic girl, have continually struggled with. I see much of myself in April and this movie, so it will now hold a special place in my heart. Obviously I'm biased, but apart from that, I found that all of the aspects of this film were great - especially the little whimsical scenes throughout. Reminds me of an indie American Amélie and being that Amélie is my favorite foreign film, I quite appreciate that. I can see this being a movie that I'll come back to quite often because I think of it dearly. So thank you to everyone involved in this cute, beautifully simple and touching film. Truly.

I just fell in love with this film. The description alone sounded unlike anything I've ever watched before, and that's rare, so I decided to give it a chance - so so so glad that I did. This indie is simply unique and although there are some character cliches in the dialogue or the story itself, it's different enough to keep you inside the world that they're presenting to you. Honestly, everything was terrific in my opinion: the scriptwriting told a good story, the acting felt genuine, some of the scenes themselves really played my heartstrings like they were a harp, and lastly, the music...very fitting and most times just purely beautiful. From all of its many aspects of brilliance and originality, there really is just something about this film that you'll end up loving. For me, besides all it's good film components and apart from compliments to the director, there's a humanness to it that I really admire. Whether it be the scenes that make your heart flutter (like the sweetest engagement speech ever) or the ones that make you feel something else, there's no forgetting this wonderful film after you watch it, and that to me is a sign of a truly good movie.

Watched this film last night based on an interest from the glimpse of what it would be talking about from the summary: "the afterlife". A thing that has been spectated about by many people for many many years. A thing that is still quite a mystery to this day. A thing that because it's a mystery, can inspire such a film like this one that explores a gloomy reality where a hypothetical idea of what the afterlife might be becomes known by the public, and quickly has after effects from the knowledge of it. In the duration of watching this film I was in awe, I cried, I tried actually thinking about what they were saying, and I even felt like they were onto something because of how convincing it all felt. Yes, some aspects could be better, just as with most movies, but overall, I'd say that this film is just plain interesting (and even creative (without overtly showing that it's creative)). And there's even quite a twist at the end that I honestly didn't see coming - having only made a little sense when I looked back. I like films that make me think, and this is one of them.

I just got done watching this film, and found it endlessly entertaining. It's clever, the sets and effects (apart from all the blood squirting and gore...it's post-apocalyptic, what're you expecting?) were great - really immersed you into their world. As mentioned, there is a lot of bloody parts and the like, but they weren't so bad to me. Which is saying something, considering that usually I'm quite squeamish around things of that nature. Don't get me wrong, I did have to turn away at some points - but overall, the use of them often times feels outrageous and comedic. It gives it a fun aspect to it, and something to giggle at. Back to the story and the world portrayed, it was wonderful! The acting was great, too. In my eyes, Munro really shined. I definitely recommend watching this :)

This movie was so good to me, that a whole hour and 17 minutes (the duration of the film) for some reason felt like it was only 20 minutes. The world that they construct is so intriguing, and the reality is one that you want to delve further into. Although the film just focuses on a few superhero's and their stories, I just wanted them to keep developing and spin-off to tell the stories of others. Great movie: the sequencing of everything made sense and wrapped it up perfectly - but gosh darn it do I wish there was more!

I JUST got done watching this movie (the end credits are rolling as I write this) and I have to say, I thought it was quite cute and clever. It is an independent film, so with that, the quality of the film is less of a movie movie and more of a home movie but that's what I find appealing about independent films so it's all fine and dandy. Thing that impressed me the most were the shots, they were honestly great. The actors/acting could've used improvement but they were quite alright - yes, there is some emotion lacking in the way that they say their lines, but there's still enough emotion from everything in the film to keep you with the characters and with the story. Cringey at times, and moments of occurrences that are questionable but in a comedic way that makes you giggle at how silly a line is or the way that something is being portrayed. Overall though, a cute film. For an independent movie that has a set budget and involves mainly kids and young people as the actors, the story is good. Give it a shot, you might like it!

Young Adam Sandler is cute enough to watch this movie. You can tell that they were just fooling around, and in some way that makes it endearing to me. Yes, the jokes are bad. Yes, a majority of the movie is cringe worthy - but, there are some funny moments. And it's interesting to see Sandler in the beginning of his career
