With Love (2021)
The show we all need
This is the series we all need. Love. So much anger and hatred today for no reason. This show celebrates life and love across gender, sexual orientation, race, and age! Must watch for the whole family. I hope it gets a second season.
The Book of Boba Fett (2021)
What a bore
The character Boba Fett is exciting and wonderous. This show is not. First episode was a huge snore. It seems this entire series is focused on him being a crimelord. Yikes, no thanks.
The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
It's a great movie and homage to the original
Not really clear on why so many disliked this movie. Yes, the first 30 or so minutes is a bit of a rehash of the first movie, but that's the point.
Overall it's a fantastic movie that is well worth watching. I loved the trilogy and this new sequel is a wonderful addition.
The King's Man (2021)
Great addition to the series
Of the three movies, this one was a bit boring, but still quite good.
I really appreciate the story Vaughn was telling and he did a great job with directing. Acting was stupendous all around. My only negative critique was that it seemed to drag on at times and some of the plot points were fairly convenient.
Overall, a great show and worth seeing. Especially if you loved the first two.
Hawkeye (2021)
Worst Disney+ Marvel Series
This isn't a bad show, it's just nowhere near as good as the others. Plot is boring. Hailee's character is both boring and annoyingly aloof. I'm not even sure why this story is being told.
Single All the Way (2021)
We Need More, But Raise the Bar
I'm excited that we finally have a mainstream released gay Christmas movie. However, this movie is not very good.
First, I love Michael Urie (Peter), but he had no chemistry with Philemon Chambers (Nick) and neither did their characters. The rest of the casting was superb. I was pleasantly surprised with Philemon's performance. I'm sorry to say they should have found another gay male to lead this show that could have played off Philemon and the rest of the cast. I also found the ages of the main characters didn't quite align with whom they cast. Don't even get me started on the lack of ethnic diversity in this movie.
Second, it is such a tired holiday story overall. It didn't bring anything new or exciting. Take any Christmas movie; make it a same-sex couple; and call it a day. That feels like the approach to this script. Additionally, the script feels like a series of poorly executed (and never fully executed) ideas. Setup this situation; sell it as a major hurdle; and then move on without actually telling the story. There is so much going on in this script, it's hard to keep track of everything. After the first 30 minutes I was still trying to understand where the movie was going as they spent so much time explaining and setting everything up.
Anyway, it's an okay Christmas movie that happens to be about a same-sex couple.
