Aquaman (2018)
Excellent!
After viewing multiple DC movies, I have concluded that they suck. (Excluding the Dark Knight Trilogy.) I have been repeatedly disappointed or bored, but this was the first movie that actually interested me. It's vibrant color, CGI, and scenery make this better than most superhero movies in general. Couple that with the plot and action they have a win in my book.
Mary Poppins Returns (2018)
Decent
A great family film. It's certainly enjoyable if not a little low at points. I didn't have much interest in seeing it in theaters, but I'm glad I did. It's absolutely stunning. The graphics are great as well as the songs. It pats homage to the original including Julie Andrews and Dick van Dyke having small yet oddly enjoyable roles.
The House with a Clock in Its Walls (2018)
Decent
A decent watch. It's a jumble of many movie genres. Like a child's horror movie, scary but interesting, too childish for adults. There is a surpringly high amount of cursing for a PG movie. The plot is good and this will go down as one of the few Jack Black films I enjoyed. Actors are good, plot is fun and interesting.
Goodfellas (1990)
Excellent!
Beautiful. The story takes place from the 50's to 80's and certainly looks the part. Scenery and props are greatly detailed and designed. Characters are acted out accordingly and to great success. It may be a drama, but I was never bored wobdering what woild hapoen next. The story of crime and how it affects the friends and family of Henry Hill is a fantastic story and a must see movie!
Aliens (1986)
Great!
A worthy successor to the first Alien movie! Sigourney Weaver is back as Ripley delivering am excellent performance and development for her character. Other characters are kipled of willy-nilly but some did survive longer and one survived the whole encounter. James Cameron captures the correct ambiance for a horror flick. The Aliens looked even better as well.
The Godfather (1972)
Excellent!
It's just too good! A stunning drama about crime and corruption. The time setting or early to mid-50s is on point, nice to see things differently. Great performances from every actor involved. The plot was full of twists and turns as henchmen turned against thier bosses, no one was who they said they were. The acting from Pacino was magnificent in particular!
Mission: Impossible - Fallout (2018)
Excellent!
Beautiful! Another successful addition to the Mission Impossible series! Tom Cruise is still fantastic! The plot was also excellent with the return and demise of Solomon Lane. Henry Cavill plays a superb villain and we also see the original cast all together again! Great action sequences and beautiful visuals and locations for everyone to enjoy!
Zombieland (2009)
Decent!
First off, I love all the actors in this movie. It's not bad but it's not as funny as I thought! Bill Murray was a funny and welcome surprise. The plot seemed to rushed and when it slowed down it seemed like it was too slow. There was no happy medium between the two. Woody Harrelson is still funny, especially on his hunt for Twinkies!
Venom (2018)
Decent!
I can see why some people don't like this and I personally found it enjoyable! CGI is good, Tom Hardy is a great actor. It moves slow at the beginning and takes a long time for Venom to fully appear and after that the movie moves to the ending with a short fight scene that was very disappointing. Got Venom at around 45 mins, Venom leaves at 1h 20 mins. Riot was a cool villain but under used. I hope the sequel is better!
Christopher Robin (2018)
Great!
Truly a very cute story with an excellent family message about how family is if course the most important thing. Ewan and Hayley bring their characters to life, as well as the animation team on all the residents of the 100 acre woods! It has very funny moments as well as some touching moments. Growing up watching and reading about Pooh, makes this movie a must see!
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018)
Decent!
I can see why some people are hating on this movie, but honestly it's bit bad at all. Instead of charging right into the action, it takes time to pave the plot for future movies. It's more of a drama than anything else. I still live the astetic of the 1920s and the acting was good. Queenie's betrayal wasn't a huge surprise but Credence being a Dumbledore was. Johnny Depp as usual is excellent and this is not a bad movie at all.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016)
Great!
A great addition to the Harry Potter franchise. We got to see new characters who we will undoubtedly grow to love in the upcoming films, we got to see more magic, and another great villain. I lived that it was set during the 1900s instead of modern day. Johnny Depp playing Grindelwald was an excellent surprise as well. The CGI is good for the beasts and all magic involved!
Homeward Bound II: Lost in San Francisco (1996)
Yikes!
Who doesn't like a film about animals? My only fear was that one of these animals would die. The film was good, the voice over work for the dogs was great and the actions and expressions of the animals made it much more believable. At least in the wilderness there was more fun it is not so for this adventure. The plot, of course, was similar to the first one with the exception of no real stakes or problems that aren't quickly solved. I.E. the red van as an example.
The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
Excellent!
One of my all time favorite movies. At first I thought this was going to be a regular life in prison documentary. It was so much more! It showed how Andy (main character) was innocent and held out hope to escape. The main characters are played well, the set is great. Characters are likeable. Acting is great and the plot was classic as well. His escape in the end was what made me the happiest, seeing Red and Andy reunite!
The House (2017)
Yikes!
It's an okay movie, it has funny moments and jokes. Sometimes it lags a little and gets boring. I liked the actors, the whole setting up the underground casino is a good plot line. It wasn't used the best it could've been. I was hoping for more crime related plot details. I liked Jeremy Renner's little cameo.
Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
Excellent!
Best of the best. Thanos shows that he is truly the best villain in the entire MCU. Character interactions are hilarious! Scenery is beautiful and story is great! A couple scenes where the CGI was lacking and the plot got a little confusing. Filled with sadness as we watch some really OG Marvel characters die like Loki, and watch as newer characters die as well, Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, and Star-Lord.
Speed (1994)
Great!
Another great Keanu film. Speed is tour perfectly paced action film with a great plot and villain. The villain didn't have much motive and he even joked about it in the film. The actors and characters were great, the car and train scenes were good and the feelings and panic of the people on the bus was captured perfectly the fear and confusion that would lead to stupidity was accurate and brilliant!
The Master of Disguise (2002)
Yikes!
This is a movie that is stupid funny. The characters are funny. The villain and plot is funny and at the very least you'll get a chuckle out of this movie. The whole disguise plot gave us many laughs as Carey transformed into many different people. The humor is more targeted towards kids than adults but it would make a good family movie none the less.
We're the Millers (2013)
Excellent!
There are few comedy movies that are actually good and funny, this is one of those few. I laughed many times during my screening. The jokes are funny and the actors just make the jokes 10x better. The plot around the weed was funny and then all the wacky situations that ensued afterwards made it even better!
John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017)
Great!
Another great Wick film. The plot was better than the first but not as sad. The villain wasn't as cool and was killed off after a chase scene. Wick fought bravely once again tearing through guards and anyone who stood in his way. This chapter gave a more in depth look of the criminal underground and prepared us for a sequel. The fight scenes were great, once again and the acting was on point!
John Wick (2014)
Excellent!
Awesome movie. John Wick is fantastic. Keanu Reeves brings the character to life with constant action and sad moments. The plot line revolving the dog was depressing, probably because I have a soft spot for animals. The acting is great. The villain is surprisingly good. Fights were choreographed accordingly and it came out perfect and really taught viewers that John Wick is not a man to be tangled with.
Skyscraper (2018)
Decent
Skyscraper is not a bad movie in any sense. Yes, it is very similar to Die Hard. Very, VERY similar. None the less, it is enjoyable and not at all boring. The plot unravels slowly but the acting was good. The whole premise of the story being centered around a flash drive was kind of stupid, but the villian was not very threatening at all. You knew everyone was going to live, so it didn't have very high stakes.
