Buried in Barstow (2022)
This movie lost a whole star because of the ending
Angie Harmon is totally fire, her and a couple of other faces bring this some cred. I like seeing my girl Angie in a more bad-ass-role, the sexy husky voice really ties it together for me. The production seems pretty good to me, it all tied in very naturally and felt legitimate.
Spoilers! ****
I totally get the idea of creating an ending that means a sequel is possible but it just felt like it ended in the middle of the action.
There's also missing character development and backstory which again leads me to believe there has to be a sequel. I feel like we couldn't spent more time on that than with the annoying 3 stooges at the counter.
What happens with the daughter's boyfriend?
Does she get Javi back?
Are there repercussions from her debt repayment in Vegas?
It's not a bad flick and I think it's worth a watch but it wasn't finished when it ended. Sigh.
Chicago Fire: All the Proof (2018)
Good combination of humour and darkness
Goodbye to some, hello to others. A nice meaty episode with some of our favourites front and centre. I had some real belly laughs and there was enough grit and tears to have it still be relevant to the season's plot/arc. Definitely not one to miss.
Angel Has Fallen (2019)
Good, solid action movie
Lots of armchair critics but this was a pleasant watch if you don't overthink it.
Jusqu'au déclin (2020)
Just enough to keep you in
It seems slow until the next thing happens and then you realise it's not slow at all. It has a nice escalation and I think it's worth a watch.
The Emoji Movie (2017)
I'm not sure why it's rated so badly
This wasn't the best kids movie I've ever seen but it was entertaining and funny for the kids and adults alike. I've given it 6 stars, would've been 6.5 but IMDB doesn't go halves. Worth a watch if you need something easy :)
The Prophecy (1995)
Lovely 7 out of 10
It's gutsy and meaty enough to keep me interested and the cast have a good pinch of charisma too. I'd watch again although, not earth shattering, it was enjoyable and not completely unbelievable :)
The First Purge (2018)
Needed some more backstory and character development...
But the idea is interesting and it was still worth a watch in my opinion. I think the incoming "gang" angle could've been more interesting, it wasn't much of a surprise.
Venom (2018)
Enjoy it for what it is
It's not without it's bugs but if you just go along for the ride and the laughs it's enjoyable. I thought the chemistry was more believable between Williams and Hardy when you seen them as friends rather than lover/partner relationship, but it did seem rather genuine.
The movie is rather endearing if you let it be :)
Juego siniestro (2016)
Entertaining enough
It wasn't particularly fast paced but there's enough happening to keep you watching. Also it's not all that "scary" per se, but I felt it was a reasonable horror film, something that can be in short supply.
O sabor das margaridas (2018)
Just enough pace and a couple of nice twists
A bingeworthy European whodunit with suspicion, intrigue and quality acting. I personally enjoy a movie where I don't know the end before I see it; this movie fulfilled that. The pace can be a little slow at times but stick with it as it's rewarding.
