Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
Unbelievably Bad
We all complained about the prequels and now the prequels are Shakespeare compared to this trilogy. I never had that big of a issue with the prequels and loved episode III. But this trilogy is just all wrong :(
Bumblebee (2018)
Why 10 years to finally get it Right ?
I am not going to rattle on and on in this review . But this should have been the transformers film we got 10 years ago. Good pacing a real story with accurate representations of the original 80's cartoon. These robots actually feel like and look like they could fit into our world . Not to mention the first 10 mins looked better than anything Micheal bay did in the previous films. For people that are not happy with the fact that it was about a girl and her robot . I feel this is just the beginning of some really solid story lines. Its clear that there will be a war on earth . And its clear that the Autobots and Decepticons are on there way here. This film is just there to set the whole thing up for future installments. Which is what Micheal bay never did he just kept throwing laughs and action sequences at us. Also I feel like we excepted Micheal Bays movies because we wanted a live action Transformers film so bad. But technically it barely followed any of the original source material . He basically made his own film with his on robot designs and sold it too us. This film really does feel like a 80's live action of the original cartoon . Watch this film don't miss out especially to see Soundwave, Shockwave, Starscream and Optimus Prime actually done right for once ! This is definitely and exciting moment for real transformer fans . Only reason it didn't get 10 from me is because I would have like to had seen more Characters . But I also understand it is a bumble bee movie. And to two Decepticons that came to earth were disposable characters probably why the suggested them.
Vox Lux (2018)
Natalie Portman Always pushes foward and the Film is no Different.
I honestly went in with no expectations and came out extremely amazed . The Directors cinematography and the weird speed ups and the ending credits at the beginning were very creative. The film basically shows just how someone with everything can be so miserable and why . There is also a underlined message in the film that redeems why everything was happening and the way it was. All the way through you honestly don't understand her lack of empathy and why she had such a odd point a view on the shootings . But when the final act hits it all makes plenty of sense . I really cannot tell the ending because it will completely ruin the beginning of the film. Go see this film Natalie Portman once again shines in character as a very aggressive urban musician with a flamboyant style. The movie has some demonic overtones throughout and a extremely interesting narration by William Dafoe. Go into this movie knowing there isn't much light in the film and the story isn't about a artist that has a drug problem and is self destructive this is on a whole different level.
Look Away (2018)
A great addition to the horror genre!
This is a very good and well acted film. It is definitely a cut above the rest of the Hollywood garbage. It keeps a consistent dark ambience throughout. Has not only a horror aspect but deep psychological. Masterfully shot and super art house. If you like really dark and realistic films this is for you. People keep saying its unbelievable that Maria was ugly and how could someone want to treat her that way . Think about it that is when people treat you the worst when they are jealous of you or see potential . The bullying is to try to hold you down and to boost their self esteem. Especially if they are attracted to you and you show no interest or they feel they don't have a shot. This film has no jokes or lighthearted moments whatsoever. It's a super serious film but completely done in a unique way. The film is nonrated so this is definitely not for teens or children. Very raw elements here and tons of sexuality and very sensual scenes. India Eisleys performance was jaw dropping and convincing. I hate that these types of films are not recognized for it's creativeness. Go into this knowing that this is actually two different people possibly or a split personality. Or that this could be her having a mental breakdown and absorbing the past out of angst ( without spoilers). I was kinda clueless if there were actually two entities or if it was all in her head . Clearly this is one of the darkness films I've enjoyed in a while. I guess you can say without spoilers. She took the life that she never had and made the most out of it. The film is slow but I prefer to understand everything before the action kicks in. Which is what Hollywood tends to not focus on. By the time you get to the climax you are fully invested in the character. I do want to add this important detail . No lights is recommended and have a date on standby! The cinematography is definitely worth A Blu-ray release. Please consider a bluray release for this frame by frame this was a intriguing film visually .
Anon (2018)
THis is a Mind Blowing Film !
I don't care what others think this film is beautiful to look at . And probably one of the best performances Clive Owen and Amanda Seyfried has had since CHLOE. Andrew Niccol did it this time for sure this is his cinematography yet. In Time I thought was OK but the look of the film was pretty basic. This film has some sexy atmosphere and some super nice apartment buildings . The films takes place in the distant future and is on time with whats happening now. Yes we have the right to give up our privacy now . But in this film everyone has proxy's and those proxy's can be traced back to anything you do.
Anon basically has avoided this system somehow . And is resistant and works as a undercover eraser for clients. So in the film authorities want apprehend her for the deaths of her clients . And to figure out how she is able to avoid the system and not have a known identity. The mysterious young woman is then submerged into a web of deceit and drama. I think the film is bold and original and I am surprised it went straight to Netflix with all the current reboots and irrelevant sequel that are out there in Hollywood. The only thing that I didn't like was the ending . I felt like there could have been a deeper explanation for everything. Instead they just kinda through it all in one thing . With such a deep philosophical story I think the ending could have been more elevated . I really hope that we can see more things like this in the future in the movie theater.
Allure (2017)
Probably ONe Of the MoSt Intriging Stories I'Ve seen IN a While
I personally love this movie I think its sexy and Alluring but traumatizing at the same time. The film focuses on Evan Rachel Wood and 30 year old woman that has suffered sexual and mental abuse. She's looking for love in all the wrong places to try to fulfill a void that she has within herself. So she turnes to a young girl (actually underage) and seduces her in to staying with her. The film just shows that abuse is no joke . She was incapable of loving the way a normal person can love. The film is really turbulent and she suffocates the girl to appoint where she doesn't know where to turn. It started out as a strong attraction but ended up that she felt obligated stay out of pity . The girl played by Evan was abusive sexually and mentally . To truly understand how powerful this film is you would have had to had gone through something like this. Its a great watch and Evan as usual plays a stunning androgynous female . This is a good watch if like realistic extremely dark and disturbing sexy films.
Sicario: Day of the Soldado (2018)
This is a Generic Thriller compared to the 1st.
The First Sicario was epic and extremely suspenseful. It was set up more like a horror film in Mexico. This is a completely incomplete story that could have been told in a short. It only focuses on a bombing and the kidnapping of a girl . And it isn't really a drug movie . I would advise anyone to stay clear of this there are better cartel films on Netflix . And the ending is very rushed and incomplete. Leaving you with no resolution whatsoever. Its truly not all about Emily blunt this would have been terrible even with her in it. Its about Denis Villeneuve he needs to be brought back to oversee the project.
