A Thousand Cuts (2020)
It's more fun in the Philippines!
Not really. This movie doesn't entirely cover the entirety of the circus and horror show that is currently happening in the PH since 2016 when Duterte started his term. HOWEVER, it does give you an idea of the gruesome and bloody behind the scenes of our seemingly "fun and peaceful" country. Thousands have lost their lives, billions of pesos have been stolen, politicians from the opposing party have been imprisoned/impeached from trumped up charges and millions still worship our president. It's time to wake up!
Orange Is the New Black: Be Free (2018)
HANDS DOWN BEST SEASON YET.
I WAS SO TENSE IN THIS EPISODE BECAUSE I WAS SO SURE A STORM WAS BREWING. ESPECIALLY WHEN VAUSE GOT HANDED A BLADE BECAUSE SHE WAS GONNA GO FIGHT AND TAYSTEE'S VERDICT. IVE BEEN SOBBING THE WHOLE EPISODE.
THE WEDDING GOT ME CRYING SO HARD OH HOW I WISH IT HAPPENED BACK IN CAMP... im crying again. I wish Red, Gina, Pennsatucky, etc the OG were there.
Taystee, I knew her case going down the drain since the first episode but I was hoping for a miracle.
Honestly, I wanted Frieda to get slit by Carol and Barbara and have 3 of them die but when I remember how Frieda helped inmates back in camp hide in her space and fed them I guess, well she isn't so bad at all.
I was so nervous about the kickball match because if the battle pushed through I was already thinking of who will die. I thought Badison was for sure getting killed LOL!
I felt so bad for what happened to Blanca but at the same time the series needed that. You see, orange is the new black is a slap from reality. If you all feel bad about what happened to Blanca, well you better be because that's what's happening right now. To kids, even.
AND!! Lastly, it's sad how Maritza, Gina, Soso, etc weren't back in this season I thought they'd show up for the last episode but they didn't. I wonder why :(
Set It Up (2018)
I really loved this film because it is unlike the current trend of shallow chick flicks these days...
After watching other films from Netflix and others that reached mainstream media (ex. Kissing Booth, Ibiza, Midnight Sun, etc)... all of which are shallow, annoying and predictable movies with little to no significant scenes. Scenes that make you think, or etch your heart. Set It Up may be a bit over the top with the crazy bosses in the movie, it still resonared with me because of its memorable lines. "You like because, you love despite". I absolutely loved the ending as it sort of tied up all loose strings into a perfect bow.
