How "greedy" an entrepreneur is?
People kept and keep complaining the existence of the superrich, who deprive the money and opportunities of the public. Therefore, it was truly lucky for Mr. Glenn Stearns to not be criticized for his decision to start another business, which this self-made billionaire hoped would earn one million dollars or more.
Mr. Stearns has already got a lot of money; however, this self-made billionaire still chose to attend a TV program which asked him to start a business undercover with only 100 dollars in his pocket on the first day. In the end of the show, he made it, and an expert believed that the value of his Underdog BBQ was 750 thousand dollars.
It is true that an entrepreneur uses or has to "occupy" a lot more public resources, which, in a way, gives people like Mr. Obama a reason to claim that "you didn't build that". The question is, entrepreneurs don't get rich by using public resources but by serving the public.
In a 2014 film, America, Dinesh D'Souza told his audience that the rich get rich because they offer their customers what they need in advance. He knew that because he himself, like Mr. Stearns, ran a little restaurant. This India-born gentleman did not rape his consumers off by offering a cheap but delicious hamburger.
People who believe that entrepreneurs take advantage of public resources should ask themselves some questions. Does it cost a businessman money to hire a driver to drive a truck that the businessman has bought previously to fetch the goods in another city, using the petrol which the businessman has to pay for? And once he earns, does he have to pay more tax than the truck driver he hires?
Back to Mr. Stearns' case. He started his new business in Erie, bringing energy and opportunities to this place unknown to him 90 days before. It is the trade and free market that bridge the connection between this rich guy living in California and the land far in Pennsylvania. Does that mean Mr. Stearns is ruthless? No!
In a barbecue festival, the Underdog team was making constant efforts to attract more customers. In order to prepare well for the next day, Mr. Stearns asked some of his people to stay up late to work. Most of his people was ok with that.
However, did Mr. Stearns and his team members spend so much time and energy because they love their customers? Frankly speaking, NO! They did that because they believed there would be payoff for that. For Mr. Stearns, he got the money to open the restaurant. For the other members, it secured their jobs and positions in the future.
So it was the case with a guy John Stossel interviewed once whose job was to heat the water for the cattle, which would become the delicious steak on the table of New Yorkers like Mr. Stossel. However, this man didn't seem to know whom Mr. Stossel was. "Whose John Stossel?" He answered in the documentary. Yet the man still worked diligently, which, eventually, offered Mr. Stossel good steak in the supermarket and earned himself sufficient money for his family, too. That honest guy loved himself more, but his work still made Stossel's life better. It was a WIN-WIN.
Therefore, the next time when you see people like Glenn Stearns on TV, don't think they are greedy. Because thanks to their "greed", your life is better.

Local Hero (1983)
the story is OK
Why did I choose to watch this? It is because I watched a interview with Peter Capaldi , the famous Scottish actor and producer. Since I like his performance and this film is his first time on screen, I chose to watch it.
Anyway, . Mac(acted by Piegert), our main character, tried to do his duty abroad but later fell in love with the local life there. The local life in the small town attracted him while the young woman in the lab attract Oldsen(acted by Peter), the man who looks quite foolish. And as I said before, the story is quite OK, but not so attracting. Maybe those who wants to kill his time in the afternoon could give it a try.
Julie & Julia (2009)
Julie and Julia
"You know what, I can write that, that Blog!" says the self- confident cook Julie in the movie.
Perhaps I got it wrong but it is an unforgettable line in this movie! Maybe that is why I chose to write reviews on IMDB, and I'm going to state several interesting parts or details in this review.
Amy Adams acted as Julie in this movie, which caught my attention. Once upon a time she even lays on the floor and began to cry. I believe most audience who has watched this movie won't forget her as the character. This writer, this young blog writer is so lovely and funny! Anyway, the failure during the cooking happens from time to time. So is the failure in real life. And that is why we watch movies and learn from them.
The movie also makes me interested in the cooking. Cooking is a demanding but requiring thing in daily life. Maybe we should try work hard on the onion-cutting like Julia (buying nearly a hundred onions and working on them only because some men in the cooking class overlooked her) .Just kidding. However, if we don't try our best to prove ourselves like Julia, we might cry ourselves somewhere and giveup. If we try and work, we may, and we will prove to others that we are the Strong one!
Julia wrote a book about cooking for the Americans because she couldn't find one in English language in Paris, during which I find that she even went to Shakespeare & Company! I'm gonna wondering what Sylvia Beach (the bookshop and literature society's founder and owner) would answer her in real life. Luckily, Julia chose to write one herself with her friends, and later succeeded. I'm sure Miss Beach would be glad to put the book on her shelves in the bookshop.
This movie is about two great American women in a quite marvelous way. It tells us that even though we are a normal person like Julie and Julia, we can still do something great and succeed in our life. As Grandma Moses says, life is what we make it, always has been, always will be.
Therefore, I'm going to give it a 9!
Steve Jobs (2015)
Steve Jobs: a man of innovation showed in an 'innovative' way
This movie, this movie is about the founder of the Empire of Apple and the creator of the device which I was using to watch the movie itself.
Not knowing pretty much about this great guy, Steve Jobs, might in a way help you enjoy this movie to tell you his life and story in a very remarkable way. Truly, it was a remarkable way to tell you Jobs' life by showing the audience what happened before his 3 famous speeches. No critic can deny that it was a new way to learn a well-known person. Of course, some might like the movie very much while others blamed the filmmakers for this terrible idea. This movie might be able to be turned into a play since one's life is a play .However, I guess few people (especially the Apple fans) would see it.
Apart from this new way, the relationship between Steve and Lisa was also an attraction. In the movie, the chemistry worked to me. The movie showed how Steve changed his attitude towards her daughter (whether true or not). He began to like Lisa when he found out that she drew a picture on a Mac, which Jobs later told Lisa that he still remembered closing to the end of the movie. And Joanna Hoffman (played by Kate Winslet) in this movie was also a key to this relationship, who was truly a good helper to Jobs.
Finally, although most of my friends actually don't use a Mac, I could still feel the hard working of Mr. Jobs' pushing himself to perform better upon his beautiful and sufficient products in this movie. There is no denying that such IT leaders' perseverance allowed most people in this world able to sit comfortably in front of a computer to type a movie review or just watch a movie called Steve Jobs.
Phantom Thread (2017)
Phantom Thread,a Strange love but a Beautiful story
The performance by Daniel Day-Lewis was fantastic and the girl was also an attraction to watch. It is a pity that Daniel is going to stop acting in the movie career. I could still remember his acting in Lincoln as his first role I had ever watched.Alma, played by Vicky Krieps , was also very good!
There is no doubt that this movie is a beautiful one favored by the Academy. The love between Reynolds Woodcock and Alma was true but actually they were two different kinds of people in their daily life. As an artist, Reynolds could appreciate this young beautiful girl and work with her happily, of which Alma could also enjoy the process. In the daily life, Reynolds might only need a woman to look after him when he was exhausted enough to lie down and not be able to do anything. In order to get the man's love for him, Alma took some special actions, which led Reynolds to the arms and good care of her. This might seem too dramatic but I (not reasonally)felt acceptable during the watching. After all, the beautiful music by Jonny Greenwood was so touching that it could help the audience to get into the story better.
Lesley Manville was nominated for the Best Supporting Actress ,playing the role of Reynolds' old sister .Reynolds always called her something like "my old so-and-so",who Was actually quite Cowardly in front of his sister. However ,in my opinion, the Academy owed the young Luxembourgian actress, Vicky Krieps, an Oscar nominate .The girl was truly Somebody in the life and career of Reynolds. She might be Strange but she is Lovely. It would be unthinkable that we didn't see such an actress to play the role in this movie.
What's the best part in this movie? Perhaps it is the scene that Reynolds and Alma went to the wedding of an old female customer, who wore a new dress by Reynolds. Reynolds didn't want to go but he had to go. Terribly, this old woman was drunk and fell asleep in this brilliant work by Reynolds, who might feel insulted. As a return, Reynolds asked Alma to do a very challenging thing upon the old woman. (Watch the movie yourself!)And they were quite happy on their way back.
This movie was a beautiful one with the hard work of all the staff and the director ,and I'm going to give it a 9!
Hitch (2005)
Prepare HARD for your date!
Hitch was a funny movie about finding true love that made me laugh a lot. The role of Hitch was fantastic. He was so funny but sometimes serious as well. Will Smith performed this character wonderfully ,who also did a great job in the film The Pursuit of Happyness. He always acted so real !
In this film we could see how Mr Hitch helped and performed well in his Career of Love , some of which is quite inspirable for most men .The other thing that we could learn from this film is that having a date requires preparation and hard work. Almost anybody wants a successful date with The Other but mostly the full-prepared guy would be the winner (or lost completely but left a deep impression, like Mr Hitch in his first Official date with the journalist)
Hope to see another wonderful film starring Will Smith !
Roman J. Israel, Esq. (2017)
a Very Movie about an attorney
Roman J Israel was a VERY MOVIE starred by Denzel Washinton. The first part of this movie was very couraging ,which told the audience what kind of person Roman was. It may also show the great spirit of some attorneys in America .However, in the second part of this movie, Roman began to fall ,which was very sad .The change of Roman's attitude was obvious ,and was also questioning the society about how they consider people like Roman .To be frank ,it is really hard for people like Roman to fight for what they believe ,with others keep telling you to give up. To our joy ,Roman finally changed his attitude again. However, he still has to pay for the price of what he had done previously.
There were two changes of Roman in the movie while another person changed once ,too----the boss whom Roman worked for .He used to be very materialistic but in a way Roman changed him .In the end, he helped finish the job left by Roman .As I said above ,it might be hard for people like Roman to survive in his career .However ,the change of the boss' attitude showed the great influence of such people ,and that is one of the most importance thing !
Besides, there are some more plots that are worth discussing. In the middle of this movie ,Roman was returning home when he met someone wanted to rob him. He was beaten and his glasses were broken ,which speed the fall of Roman .I guess Roman must have thought that he himself always stood for such people in the court while now this guy was trying to steal my IPOD.Was his faith he stood for meaningful?Such question can only be answered by the one who asked it himself .Luckily , after a wrong journey ,Roman returned to what he had believed .
What's more, the end of this movie was quite touching ,qpparently. Many people might think Mr Roman was killed yet I think his heavy big left on the ground may be a Trick. Maybe Roman didn't get killed. The papers his boss handed over later still kept his name. It is Traditional to think that if a character didn't get killed , we would see him again before the movie ended. However, nobody knows whether he really died for sure. Therefore , this might show some sort of hope of the film makers that they wished people like Roman, either alive or dead , would live in others' heart.
Finally, I would like to "complain" about some places unsuitable in this movie .Denzel did a great job acting as Roman J Israel ,Esquire yet sometimes he spoke a few words in a very quick way (see the scene that Roman talked with the boss about his belief and ambition after work). There is another scene that he went to see his ex-colleague at hospital .He talked to his friend's wife about how he felt disappointed at his faith. These sentences may sound weird to both the simple housewife and the audience .
