The Flash (2023)
Hard to believe DC made this
As much as I don't like Ezra miller as The Flash, he redeems himself because of the storyline and the writing. Obviously I was awaiting this movie because of the two "nearly" best Batmans (nearly because my favorite Batman Christian Bale isn't there), but I shouldn't take the credit away from Flash too. Everyone has been given their respective amount of story and screentime and all have done their best, even the rumoured super spoiler was worth the wait. There are some specific scenes or I should say scenarios where it seems that the makers CHOSE to keep it a bit less realistic CGI (don't worry, it's not the Justice league moustache fiasco) but it's forgivable if you understand what they tried to do with it. You'll understand more once you see the movie.
All in all a perfect combination of seriousness, humour and emotions likes of which we don't usually see in DC movies.
I hope they have started on the right path now and don't end up deviating from it in case we are to witness another Justice League in the James Gunn DCEU.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods (2023)
Total fun
Great movie... Didn't feel like a DC movie at all. It's all in all fun. The movie had great amount of action, correct amount of humor and emotions and all is complemented with a fast paced writing and great CGI leaving no slow or boring bits. Everyone has been given their fair share of screen time but the main two (non superhero hero) guys, namely Billy and Freddy have been pushed to their highest potentials. I never thought I'll say this, but Freddy (Jack Dylan Grazer) was the best in the movie. His character was given the funniest and the most heart touching scenes that left most people in the theatre with choked throats, not giving any spoilers but it's just awesome.
In one line, the movie is a total summer entertainer !!!
Black Adam (2022)
Great fun for a DC movie
Yes, it's not like the other pretentiously Dark DC movies. It doesn't feel that the dark side of DC is being forced to us. We see a lot of action, a very open and we'll lit environment monthly of the day time. The cast is excellent and their individual performances are good enough. Dwayne Johnson obviously is the largest part of the movie (like literally) and does justice to the character and I would go on saying more than justice as Black Adam himself wasn't that of a well known comic book character to begin with. The story is very good but at times it gets slow but the next scene ends up being so good that it compensates for the few minutes of dullness.
Overall a very fun experience.
The Batman (2022)
Great take on Batman
I'll start by saying that The Dark Knight still remains the best Batman movie.
Having said that, this is a completely new take on Batman. As promoted, they do give us a Batman who is very human, new to his Batman thing so still learning, having all the gadgets and toys but none as refined as BatBale or Batfleck.
The actors do their part the best way it can be done. Pattinson gives us nothing to complain about as he delivers a very young, sharp, energetic and angry Batman and a flawed Bruce Wayne who is still to find his balance in both the lives he is living. Paul Dano's Riddler is menacing and John Turturro is good as always. Zoe is Ok as Catwoman.
Colin Farrell is marvelous as penguin as it's impossible to find the real him in that character.
All in all great movie. The only thing I was disappointed was that they didn't show the full potential of that Bat Suit (No spoilers here but you'll know)
The Midnight Gospel: Taste of the King (2020)
Great idea but Boring
The first episode seemed to have a very unique look and a very different feel to it. This mix of calm podcast type conversation within all chaos had a great potential to be something very funny but ended up pretty boring. I do have better hopes for the next episodes though.
The King's Daughter (2022)
Ok movie
It's like a decent enough Disney movie from 2010. Not much of action, drama, romance, bad guys, good guys or story. Very predictable overall. If you have nothing else to watch then you can watch this and you wont totally regret it.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021)
Fun !!!!!!
Ofcourse a new movie can't top the movie that started it all, but in itself this is an awesome movie with lots of fun.
All the characters are well written, casted and played. Paul Rudd's presence as always is enough to make everything funny.
Don't miss !
Army of Thieves (2021)
Surprisingly great
I say surprisingly as I had little to No hope from this one as it's supposed to be a prequel to the soulless pointless Army of the Dead which for me was an absolute garbage even with the great cast and CGI.
This one is funny, gives brief but good character buildup to all of the cast and the heist scenarios are interesting enough. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable movie.
Copshop (2021)
Shockingly a waste of time
If you are going to the movie because you have expectations based on the trailer you saw then know this...... That's all the action and the best scene the movie has to offer.
There are four main characters, namely Butler, Grillo, Alexis and Toby Huss (psycho Anthony Lamb). All great individually but are wasted in the movie due to a weak script and a verryyyy slowwww pace of the story with too much talking. What looked like a high speed funny action movie turns out to be a not so funny and predictable somewhat thriller. The story and the cast could have done so much better than this.
Masters of the Universe: Revelation (2021)
A new perspective with better story telling
Excellent new way of telling the story. Kevin Smith managed to bring in the character depth of all the main names. Every one has been given atleast one Bada$$ moment to prove their worth. For people with no previous knowledge of the source material, it's an excellent animated series and for the fans, it tickles all the fanboy bones. Given that this season is Teela focused but it doesn't take any value away from the main guy we love, He-Man. He-Man has been shown stronger and bigger than he ever was. Can't wait for the next season.
Ted Lasso (2020)
A beautiful series
A very heart warming underdog story of pure optimism in the face of sheer and utter chaos. It's a comedy series that doesn't try to be a comedy series. A very genuine sports related light hearted drama with a lot of flavours. Can't wait for season 2.
Boss Level (2020)
Hwaaaaaaat
There have been soo many time loop movies but this one still manages to be very different. The action, the pace of the movie, the actors, the humor, the action, the emotion... It all worked as was supposed to... Awesome movie especially considering the fact that the expectations werent very high
Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
If you loved the first one, then you'll still keep loving it..
The movie starts nice but looses the overall adrenaline rush that every scene and battles of the first one had. Diana looks great but Wonder Woman is ... Well... Meh... The movie overall is good and has good performances especially by Kristen Wiig and Pedro Pascal, but fails to be a memorable one.
Early Man (2018)
Too Similar to the movie "Lagaan"..... But a nice movie
Very similar to the Indian movie Lagaan just football instead of cricket. Quite fun
