77 Sunset Strip: Walk Among Tigers (1963)
Cold War Caper; one of the series' best
WALK AMONG TIGERS comes pretty late in the 5th season, when interest in the show was waning and most of the episodes were mediocre at best. This one (along with a few other random gems from this penultimate season) truly shines. Top-notch cold war caper with Bailey operating without any of the casual and generally useless assistance from his cast-mates. He's brought in to investigate a mysterious cache of missing money after a train crash takes the life of a beloved and famous American patriot. The mystery unravels in a terse fashion with heavy dollops of film noir touches along the way. Dialogue is tough and believable with excellent performances from the largely unfamiliar guest cast; one notable presence is Ann Robinson, who turns up in a small but nicely turned role. The twist near the end is unexpected and rings with a melancholy note of reality. If you're already a fan of the show, this one will really impress.
