Dracula (2020)
Decent
Would be awesome if the 1st season was in the old days and finished with the helicopter scene from episode 3. The way the story evolves is not a bad idea but it feels rushed especially in episode 3. Renfield and Lucy are important characters and even for an alternative storyline, they are introduced in a hasty manner. It is also kind of tiresome to have all this snowflake-millenials-politically correct characters. Dont get me wrong, it just doesnt make much sense to change any character skin color or import meaningless characters just to be politically correct. Van helsing being female is not a bad twist at all.
The main characters cast is good but the supporting characters, not so much, especially Lucy. I can see where the bad reviews come from, there could be HUGE potential in this show, but season 1 was decent to watch. I just hope this doesnt turn into Lucifer and keeps its gory and dark vibes of the first episode, even at a smaller scale.
Dave Chappelle: Sticks & Stones (2019)
Still has it!
From all the Netflix specials Dave Chappelle did, this is by far the best! To be honest, I did not really like the previous ones. They were ok, but not great. In this one, Dave finds his old self! He is in a good mood and has a good connection with the audience. His vocal, facial and body expressions remind the old days and he definately says some harsh truths people do not like to listen! Definately enjoyed it and will see it again!
El recluso (2018)
Simple but decent
I dont expect Netflix to become HBO (although I wish it did!), but small productions like this justify the monthly subscription. Everything about this show is mediocre, but the pace is good and the actors help along with the script to create interesting characters. It is similar to casa di papel in this way, without the beautiful ladies! Not a bad show to spend your time.
The Haunting of Hill House (2018)
A modern day horror classic
After a minimum of two decades of mindless "thrillers", with pop-up jump scares, gore and a lot of screaming, comes a show to remind us of proper horror.
I do not get scared easily, I havent been scared since I was 6 years old and watched the original "The Excorsist" film. This show made me feel "unsettled" and maybe anxious even at least twice during the 10 episodes it lasted.
The length of the show is almost ideal and each episode is building up the characters and the plot. It is one of these very rare shows nowadays where you really need to keep both eyes on your screen. It is not a show you put on while doing housework or before bed time. Not because it is that scary but because each scene has something to offer.
The direction is truly remarkable. The camera moves often instead of switching angles, a technique that makes the viewer feel like he or she is there. Plus the movement has a pace at which you do not know what to expect: will something be there? Will it not? Trully excellent.
The cast is beyond critisism. Especially the children, always a difficult task for casting people and director to manage, perform on an epic scale. All characters feel real, noone is exagarating and each and every one of them deserves an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and any kind of award there is!
If you know your horror gendre, you are familiar with 60s and 70s british and american filmd and most certainly have read 19 and 20th century ghost novels.
This show represents every decent ghost novel ever written. Already a classic.
Well done to everyone involved.
Car Masters: Rust to Riches (2018)
Decent
One more car show, more cozy and friendly than West Coast Customs. The people feel more honest and their behavior is sincere, plus you dont get to have to stand the annoying personality and cocky behaviour of the WCC Ceo just to see a few good rides.
Cars shown are decent, but would definately appreciate more time showing the craftmanship and less time explaining the business model over and over again.
Easy watch overall.
