Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023)
Crowley and extreme violence towards animals
Don't watch it if you love animals. There's a huge rage on about it being pg13. It shouldn't be. It should be for more mature audiences. One minute it's Marvel as they were, the next it's incredibly upsetting and gruesome. Very very good effects and the humour is there but too cruel for kids - or for me, storyline okay and script god, though it could have been redirected. Music I'd curse brilliant. I don't know how to say it is counter intuitive to be so graphic and tactless elsewhere. I like Qill's maturity and the humour. Brilliant characters. Good actors. The rage is real. The range from me is more real. Pretty upset with D I aneurysm.
Bloodmoon (1990)
Are you serious?
Is this for real? It's an embarrassment of an Aussie film with shocking acting and worse photography. I am sure I know some of the actors but it wouldn't surprise me if they're not around now because of this thing called a movie. Typical slasher USA knock off with accentuated Aussie twang and laughable scenarios, I have to contemplate whether there's anything good about it. Maybe the water attack on the 'aholes' or the inevitable Aussie bush sex scene ruined by intrusive footsteps on crackling leaves or, wait, oh no, watch out! More than one young couple out there it seems. I'm still thinking..... one must consider and respect the importance of mass over the teen desires of true love and a peck on the cheek. Nothing need about this schlocker.
Tulsa King (2022)
Exceptional
Stallone has surprised me with a 'diffident' character that has intelligence, awareness and just that bit of caring that you don't see all the time but is below the surface and in his character's tolerance towards dimwits where disdain would rule in other characters of his ilk . Excellent accents all round, depth of character and such a connection between them all it does feel real. Very real. I tried to watch a recent western but in the first ep there was way too much violence and, although a friend said she can't watch this due to same, I guess I didn't notice it as being as brutal, and, tbh, the script had me so involved maybe I don't notice the negative stuff. But I personally don't see the violence in this as a big thing. Typical storyline but good slant to it, some predictability to it, but again, a few moves here and there that keep it interesting and as I said, the script, the acting, Stallone is really good in this as are all, and all in all I can't wait till season 2.
Dopesick (2021)
It's ironic how addictive this show is
Stellar acting, incredible cinematography, very good transitions from past to present and vice versa - something I usually hate - and smooth flow from scenes of law and legal discussion to the down and ours, the real people and patients that this company abused with guile and lies to the point of breaking any faith we had in the medical industry. Casting is strong, perfect, and Keaton is fantastic. The contrast between the humble us and the moneyed 'them' is the entire disparity of life. Any wonder we need something to ease that pain, let alone any physical 'break-through pain'! It's thought provoking, it's scary, and, sadly, it's all true.
Fire Chasers (2017)
Time to wake up
Yeah, it's a must watch and an eye opener for everyone. Please watch this. Is well done, excellent photography. It's alarming and it's about respect - never mind the patronising ahole in ep 2 with the new boys - and I love that they tell you to watch out for critters. But it's time we all learned just how devastating an illegal campfire can be - hope they can live with themselves those people - and how simple things, and a change of mentality, can make things easier, not just for the firemen but the home owners and Mother Nature too!
Tell Me Who I Am (2019)
How could the other parents have not known?
This is mindblowingly hard to take in and absorb so it is totally understandable why one twin would protect the other from the facts. This is one time when indeed ignorance was bliss. I cannot believe these kids didn't take this sick b to court but I am guessing the accident held it up or stopped it s as much as it was stopped by a young boy saying no to a filthy degenerate in london. For gods sake I beg that everyone be made aware that children must speak up and be allowed to. As is said let there be - no more secrets!
White Tide: The Legend of Culebra (2018)
You could not make this up
I'm pretty convinced it's still there but you'll have to make up your own mind. Almost made for a Monty Python skit in some ways or maybe an old half sit com half TV drama, it's a bit of a romp through the crazy period of a once wealthy builder hit by the economic depression who comes up with the idea of a lifetime, find the coke buried on an island in Puerto Rico... there's a turncoat, there's cops and there'sa very obvious trap which I think totally sux but it kept me entertained and I lost track of time so it can't have been boring. Enjoy!
Fractured (2019)
Nice psychological insights
It's seriously predictable and fairly good acting by a tortured W Orpington but it lacks a little colour and is kind of just above flatline with no ups and downs in tone, no real impacting moments and a dullness too most of the other actors. Very strange. I wanted to see more twists, perhaps, but nope. A Netflix movie that I can tick off, I usually like their movies, but all I can say is sure, watch it, but you may not talk about it later.
After Life (2019)
Nothing to dislike in this perfect choice of a life after death
Why are people saying this is dark and unfunny? Silly critics. Of course it's dark and the nuances are v funny indeed - because they're true! Don't tell me you've not thought these numerous vocalisations after the death of a loved one or an incredibly poignant change in your life. I've said it before and will continue to say, what people sometimes get uncomfortable with is Gervais says it, what we're thinking, and as an actor, comedian and incredibly adept observer, he can say more in shorter time than we can and would. Simple observation and honesty without boundaries. Incredible acting, fantastic send ups of the typical and atypical, simple embellishments on the obvious, if you're a littl bit deep you'll get it, acknowledge it, enjoy it - and walk away thinking about it! That's a good thing - and a good series!
