The only movie I've ever walked out of the cinema from.
18 April 2013
Warning: Spoilers
I really appreciate movie reviews I see on IMDb, unfortunately I'm lazy and do not review much other than things I think are really good, or really really bad.

I can't honestly tell you if the entire movie is really bad, because I did not remain in the cinema for its entire duration, I couldn't. What on earth is this movie trying to be? My girlfriend wanted to watch Identity Thief but I read the summary of this movie and I thought it was gonna be cool, I thought it was going to be some sort of Tarantino style movie.

I watched in dismay as these girls just took drugs and got drunk, I was miserable. I longed that the movie would improve into something better when the girls were bailed out of prison, so I watched for a little longer. I completely gave up hope when James Franco starts playing a Britney Spears song on a piano while the girls, dressed up in pink ski masks sing along to it.

Avoid, avoid at all costs. Do not let anyone linked to the creation of this movie receive any financial gain from your viewing.

Burn before watching!
17 January 2011
I can't be bothered to type out a huge reason for why I despised this film, so I'll copy and paste an email I sent to my friend about it.

"its the most boring, ****ing pointless, ****ing ridiculous, ****ing stupid, ****ing waste of life film I've ever imagined possible to make I can't believe its got a rating of over 7 on IMDb Like I've seen some bad films, bad acting, bad special effects etc, but that film, ****, I just can't believe it".

I don't know what it is about the hype, or what it is about the rating of the film, but please avoid it, I've never been so miserable in my life as I was just after wasting my time watching this. Brad Pitt plays an idiot, the woman he's teamed up with is just not believable even for a complete idiot. I really don't get this film, or why they made it, or which characters I'm supposed to like or dislike, I hated them all except for J.K. Simmons who makes a very brief appearance.

I very rarely bother to comment or rate movies on IMDb, unless I think the movie is that good or that bad, so obviously you know what my opinion of this movie is.

Not worth my time
21 January 2010
Warning: Spoilers
I watched this movie after I read a review on IMDb, but unfortunately I regret it. I understand that the film was an independent movie so I wasn't expecting any awesome special effects or something, what got me interested was the statements that the characters are not like stupid people in typical horror movies. This is completely not the case and below are a few reasons why: *****SPOILERS****** (although you might as well read it just to know why this film is rubbish) First of all, the criminal, I know he loves his girlfriend, but at the start of the movie where he takes the couple hostage and they need to change the tyre on the jeep, he gives the only gun to his drug addict cold turkey-ing girlfriend who believes that they just ran over her already dead pet dog. I would find it difficult to trust anyone else with my gun in that situation, let alone a women, let alone a woman in her state. I'm ashamed the boyfriend didn't just smack her over the head and take the gun.

OK, moving on to when they are in the petrol station. Leaving a trail of oil that leads back into the PETROL STATION and planning to set it alight? What the ****? Luckily, the doctor boyfriend managed to change their minds. Oh yeah a doctor of biology, how coincidental that they have that in the exact scenario where its useful, OK I'll leave that one, as all movies do generally have something a little too good to be true. Well anyway, only someone as smart as a doctor would know not to leave a trail of oil back to the petrol station and set it alight. He is clever.......

......or is he? Well, I'd still say considering he's got a PHD, he's still a complete ****ing moron. So, they manage to close the door before any of the monster things get in, but a recently amputated hand manages to make it in. It looks angry, its got spikes coming out of it and its drinking blood. No-one knows how strong or fast or what its intentions are, but considering its owner just killed a human being in less than a second, I'd say its not too friendly. Luckily the criminal guy tries to crush it with a bag of something, but what does the doctor do? Take the bag off, sit right next to it and decide to study it. Now I know doctors and biologists probably see some weird and gross things on a daily basis, but I'm almost certain if any normal member of that profession were to see a hand moving around on its with spikes coming from it and drinking blood, they would be a tad more cautious.

OK, and the monster. So, because they have a doctor with them, they figured out that it is basically just a parasite that detects heat and moves towards it and tries to infect it/feed off of it. OK, so we know how this thing works, as we see in the shop it basically chases them until it can't detect them anymore. Yet somehow when the police woman is outside the petrol station, it jumps from building to building like Spiderman and then hangs down and grabs her and takes her back up? Sorry, did the monster suddenly become something else for this part of the movie? Moving on to the end, the most annoying part of the movie where everyone deserved to die. So they've basically taken care of the monster, the criminal is lying there on the ground at the burning petrol station and the couple are happily getting away. I thought, OK, something's going to jump them here and they'll have a final battle, OK that would have been typical I suppose, so instead, they have the couple go back to the criminal guy that took them hostage, got them into this situation and threatened to kill them when they disobeyed him, for a five minute chat, WHILE THE PETROL STATION IS ON FIRE.

******End of spoilers******** Don't bother with this film unless you want to see how a complete bunch of retards react in a monster scenario where they are trapped inside an isolated gas station.

Pretty good
23 August 2006
I read some mixed reviews of this anime so I was hesitant to watch it, in the end I ended up getting what I expected, not better or worse than what I expected. What I'd like to say is, firstly, if you haven't watched the full Ninja Scroll movie please watch it, its one of the best animes there is. Secondly, if you have seen the full movie, I would recommend you rent this rather than buy it.

One of the main things I didn't like about this anime was the animation itself, I don't know why but it seemed as if it was animated for a Saturday morning kids show. Don't get me wrong, if you're expected blood and gore don't worry you will not be let down, there's plenty of it. If you can imagine the different in animation from the early 90's X-Men cartoon to the new X-Men Evolution cartoon, that is sort of the change the animation has undertaken from the Ninja Scroll movie to the series. Another letdown is the bland and basic story. Its not like I can spoil the story for you much but don't expect any twists and turns here, it basically Jubei protecting an important princess having to face a more deadlier enemy every episode, easily defeating every one of them.

I suppose this review sounds negative so far, but please don't take it that way, I did enjoy this anime somewhat and thats mainly because I love the Ninja Scroll type anime action, and in the series there is a LOT of it. Not one episode has a lack of fighting, and you get to see Jubei use some of his cool signature moves from the movie quite a few times and it just looks really cool. So to sum it all up, I'd say rent this series if you can, if you can't borrow it from a friend and buy it if you like it.
