I watched this movie after I read a review on IMDb, but unfortunately I regret it. I understand that the film was an independent movie so I wasn't expecting any awesome special effects or something, what got me interested was the statements that the characters are not like stupid people in typical horror movies. This is completely not the case and below are a few reasons why: *****SPOILERS****** (although you might as well read it just to know why this film is rubbish) First of all, the criminal, I know he loves his girlfriend, but at the start of the movie where he takes the couple hostage and they need to change the tyre on the jeep, he gives the only gun to his drug addict cold turkey-ing girlfriend who believes that they just ran over her already dead pet dog. I would find it difficult to trust anyone else with my gun in that situation, let alone a women, let alone a woman in her state. I'm ashamed the boyfriend didn't just smack her over the head and take the gun.
OK, moving on to when they are in the petrol station. Leaving a trail of oil that leads back into the PETROL STATION and planning to set it alight? What the ****? Luckily, the doctor boyfriend managed to change their minds. Oh yeah a doctor of biology, how coincidental that they have that in the exact scenario where its useful, OK I'll leave that one, as all movies do generally have something a little too good to be true. Well anyway, only someone as smart as a doctor would know not to leave a trail of oil back to the petrol station and set it alight. He is clever.......
......or is he? Well, I'd still say considering he's got a PHD, he's still a complete ****ing moron. So, they manage to close the door before any of the monster things get in, but a recently amputated hand manages to make it in. It looks angry, its got spikes coming out of it and its drinking blood. No-one knows how strong or fast or what its intentions are, but considering its owner just killed a human being in less than a second, I'd say its not too friendly. Luckily the criminal guy tries to crush it with a bag of something, but what does the doctor do? Take the bag off, sit right next to it and decide to study it. Now I know doctors and biologists probably see some weird and gross things on a daily basis, but I'm almost certain if any normal member of that profession were to see a hand moving around on its with spikes coming from it and drinking blood, they would be a tad more cautious.
OK, and the monster. So, because they have a doctor with them, they figured out that it is basically just a parasite that detects heat and moves towards it and tries to infect it/feed off of it. OK, so we know how this thing works, as we see in the shop it basically chases them until it can't detect them anymore. Yet somehow when the police woman is outside the petrol station, it jumps from building to building like Spiderman and then hangs down and grabs her and takes her back up? Sorry, did the monster suddenly become something else for this part of the movie? Moving on to the end, the most annoying part of the movie where everyone deserved to die. So they've basically taken care of the monster, the criminal is lying there on the ground at the burning petrol station and the couple are happily getting away. I thought, OK, something's going to jump them here and they'll have a final battle, OK that would have been typical I suppose, so instead, they have the couple go back to the criminal guy that took them hostage, got them into this situation and threatened to kill them when they disobeyed him, for a five minute chat, WHILE THE PETROL STATION IS ON FIRE.
******End of spoilers******** Don't bother with this film unless you want to see how a complete bunch of retards react in a monster scenario where they are trapped inside an isolated gas station.
