Nefarious (2023)
And the atheist cries for God when the demon attacks
Did Sean Patrick Flannery just become my favorite actor? (Norman Reedus who? Lol. Jk I love them both).
This movie hit a home run. Script, message, acting - all stellar.
This movie is a must see for all walks of life. It is one of those movies you need to watch multiple times to catch everything.
I even felt sorry for Edward for how nefarious treated him - that's how good Sean played the part!!!
The entire cast played their part perfectly.
Looks like there may even be a sequel. I can't wait. If you get the chance be sure to check out the behind the scene stories too. This movie is an eye opener for all.
Christmas with a Capital C (2011)
Win with a capital W
What a wonderful reminder that hate can only be conquered with love.
The way the main character felt angst with the opposition is exactly how I feel about things. I love the way he dealt with it - seeking council. I appreciate that another person on the council felt as strongly as he did about it but they got to a place of righteously dealing with the situation.
The thief comes to kill, steal, and destroy. This shows a great example of the unsaved trying to steal our joy and our outward display of love for our Father. They don't understand we want to share this joy and hope for them to be saved as well. It seems to them a strength to be able to do this but it is false smoke and mirrors that evil offers. The militant atheist uses enticements for people to side with him - money, women, whatever wordily thing you seek. Worldly things are not eternal. They are fleeting. God is life. God is eternal.
I highly recommend this movie. It is throwing out powerful messages for those smart enough to catch them.
Frenzy (2018)
Haven't seen such aggression in a shark since Jaws
Ok so I know they were all friends and I'm sure somehow blamed Javier for the crash but could not one of them ask how he was too? Even if they tacked it on the end after they roll called their friends. Just say and the pilot? Did he survive!
I was amazed at Kia (I think was her name) keeping such a cool head in the crisis and then low and behold back story she was in the army.
I did enjoy this film. For a seemingly low budget film the acting was better than most and the film itself was good quality.
Hate to see it get such negative reviews because it was decent enough.
Sharks 5. Humans 3. If you're keeping score.
The Royals (2015)
Walk Away
Liz Hurley was made for this role. Her performance - exceptional - she is stunning.
All of the characters and storylines are well written. I'll admit the first show could potentially turn some away but stick with it. I just wish it hadn't ended on season 4 really need a season 5 and beyond!
Love love love Jasper and Eleanor. Writing my own happily ever after for them.
You'll understand the "Walk Away" Title after you watch the show!
The characters are pretty much what you'd imagine them to be, so enjoy a little guilty pleasure and be a fly on the wall in the monarchy.
Enjoy the show #KingLiam !!
Wicker Park (2004)
Not what I expected...
This was good even though it was frustrating. It was a little difficult at times to keep up with present versus flashback but all together a good movie. I passed over this movie several times because the cover made it look tawdry rather than what it is. It is sad the delusions people feed themselves and the games they play with other's lives. Watch and enjoy it for what it is.
Unforgettable (2017)
Low Vibrational
I really like Katherine Heigl, so it was not my favorite character for her to play. The leading ladies however, Heigl, Dawson, and Ladd all looked phenomenal and performed their roles well. I just was really left feeling blah after watching this movie so I really do not recommend.
Spy Game (2001)
If you're that good - should you retire?
Not your average last day. What an exciting movie. Left a smile on my face. Where was I 20 years ago when it came out! Lol. Glad I found this gem. Highly recommend watching.
10 Cloverfield Lane (2016)
Just one of my favorites
I've watched this one several times. Great psychological thriller. Strong characters, well acted, keeps the viewer intrigued. Looking forward to the sequel.
The Return (2005)
Entertaining- Fun Find
Just happened across this movie. Wish there were more Sarah Michelle Gellar movies to find like this. The movie is off to a bumpy start but stick with it. I kept trying to predict where the story was going and was wrong each time so that in itself allows for a solid 8. Worth at least one watch for most. I'll probably watch it again.
Austenland (2013)
Fun!
Watched twice already. I felt exactly like the main character not knowing which was real and which was not (although my suspicions were correct). I love how the writer created an Austen like story along with entertaining characters. I'd go to Austenland lol.
Mansfield Park (1999)
Listen to the user reviews and run!
A more apt title would be "The Butchering of Mansfield Park". 20 minutes in and I knew I would be throwing the dvd into the trash to spare others from wasting their time. (I have only thrown away 2 other movies out of thousands) I am new to Austen but have watched some of the older films so I was looking forward to an updated depiction of the story, not a debased catastrophe.
Isle of Dogs (2018)
Disappointed
This could've been a great movie if Hollywood wasn't so preoccupied with pushing agendas. Get back to good storytelling.
Melancholia (2011)
Oddly Beautiful
I really wanted to hate this movie but I absolutely loved it. Probably should only read this review after watching the movie. The movie is not for everyone but it seems you will either love it or hate it. Realist can embrace it.
As much as I like to overthink things I like the movie in its simplicity. Justine knew what was going to happen. She treated the people at her wedding the way she did because she knew there was no long term repercussions and she didn't want any attachments that would make things more difficult to bear. She was going through the stages of grief and loss and then she finally reached acceptance. That's why she was calm when it happened.
Her sister believed the beautiful lie and false reassurance that everything was okay so in the end, she had to suffer all of the emotions at once.
Melancholia is anything that destroys/changes your life forever - drugs, divorce, death or an entire planet colliding with yours. Everyone deals with reality differently. You have the realist - Justine. The ones in denial - Clair. The abandoner/escapist - John. The innocents - Leo the son.
Tag line so desperately sought: "Life is only on Earth and not for long" Personal note: embrace it and make the best of it.
Just my humble take on the film anyway.
No Escape (2015)
Ordinary People doing Extraordinary Things to Survive
Do not read the back of the dvd. Do not watch the trailer. Just watch the movie - that's the best way to experience it. I recommended this one to a friend and he said he gripped his armchair 75% of the movie! It's in my "keepers".
Heatstroke (2013)
Better than a lot of what's out there
Not sure why so many low user reviews - this is a solid movie. It's worth checking out.
