Aquaman (2018)
This movie is a breath of fresh water
I was reluctant to see the movie due to the review of many critics that did not like it but decided to buy my ticket and I was not regretful.
This movie is what DC needs. We have a real superhero that saves people from dying but also let's the villains die, he is like a human and not like Marvel heroes that are portrayed as Disney Princesses all good and rosie.
The visuals are amazing. Making a movie under water is very challenging and kudos to Wan and his team for creating a brilliant world underwater with CGI technology.
Storyline was decent and despite what many critics said the movie is too long, I could not feel the time pass since the movie is packed with action.
The only thing I would change is perhaps adding less elements to the movie. Dinosaurs were clearly an unnecessary add on.
This movie is a must watch and a breath of fresh air from the Marvel Universe that delivers the same over and over.
El Chicano (2018)
A movie with a good story but not good execution
The idea of creating a Hispanic superhero is amazing considering the huge Hispanic Market that exists in the USA and in America.
The story has the potential to create a good product. Unfortunately, the movie falls short on the delivery. It stalls during many scenes and the story does not flow as it should.
The most dissapointing part is the casting. Acting is not believable in any of the scenes. In one of the scenes, the main character's girlfriend tells him "all I see is rage in your face" when the audience noticed no reaction on his face at all, it is troubbling.
The House That Jack Built (2018)
It had the potential to be the best serial killer movie of all time
Praise to the director for creating this piece of brilliant combination between killng, art, comedy and a fine grotesque film.
It goes beyond what many movies would dare to show when it comes to this type of genre.
A long movie but it captivated the attention of the movie goers as the room was fully quiet.
The end is what I did not fully understand and that is why I am not giving this film 10 stars. It is long, confusing and I don't see the deeper meaning that the director tried to deliver.
Highly recommended if you are willing to immerse in the brutal mind of a serial killer.
The Nun (2018)
Darkness from the first moment
The movie is very dark themed which I loved. However it gets lost in the story and flow of the sequences.
Many unnecessary elements with mommy/zombie like characters out of place and some absurd claims such as having the blood of Jesus Christ on hand.
One of the things that horror movie directors need to learn is that Less is More. In some scenes, the Nun looked like a monster with shark teeth and not like a demon as it should have been portrayed. In other scenes the Nun looks spot on so it was a hid and miss on this matter.
I would recommend it. Good movie for your non premium seating at the movie teather.
Logan (2017)
A movie that Disney will never dare to make
Superheroes in real life are humans like everyone else with flaws, emotions and weaknesses.
At first I was skeptical to watch it as it was another Wolverine movie but I am glad I ended up watching. A movie that dares to show how brutal life can really be and not only show a fantasy life that most superhero movies show.
I am sad Disney will acquire Fox Studios and afraid this kind of movies will be made again.
It was an epic experience.
