The Lost Boys (1987)
How does Blade have a better rating than this???
Okay granted Blade was an awesome horror/action movie, however this film delivered an all star cast, good action, really good music, a great script for a vampire film, a totally awesome setting and quite frankly this is one of the few vampire films you can watch over and over and still enjoy it. Some may disagree as it has gone from a box office smash, to a cult movie and now to a hot topicified film, but leave the Hot Topic children alone. They just want attention from other people who have seen the movie. The movie was well worth watching and compared to Schumacher's other garbage, this was his zenith. Now if you haven't seen this film, I suggest watching it during a hot summer night with a girlfriend down on the beach.
Creepshow 3 (2006)
It's these movies that make me wish 0 was a possible rating...
1. The script was terrible and ruined the dialogues, by adding way too many cheesy lines and jokes that either weren't funny, or necessary. How can you take a series that had a perfect linear way of telling stories and muck it up by adding ridiculous recurring characters and just not sticking to one story at all?!? 2. The Directing was the worst i've yet to see. How can you possibly use these horrendous takes without calling cut? 3. THE BLOODY AWFUL ACTING! You cannot get away with this kind of acting, especially in a follow-up to 2 decent films. The Doctor was absurd, and proved he had no clue what he was doing in a doctor's office. The Cop was almost as bad, I mean come on his uniform looked worse than a Halloween costume, and his attitude was that of an old junky. 4. The effects were the nail in the coffin for me. First off, why use CG blood when fake blood is probably cheaper and definitely more realistic. Second off why the hell was that girl coming out mutated in the universal remote segmant. This might've also had to do with the screenplay, but this film took no effort to explain itself. Four words sum this film up: BOTTOM OF THE BARREL
Shaadi Se Pehle (2006)
It's movies like these that make us realize...
Bollywood sucks the big one. It's like a malfunctioning machine that keeps spitting out these ridiculous musical romantic comedies, that always end the same way, have generally the same plot, same characters, and same music. They're not original, or brilliant in anyway whatsoever. It's like they don't realize it's bad and they keep wasting money on the same crap. Of course it does appeal to Indians, because these are their films, but I mean can't you at least come up with something better. I mean Bollywood comes out with more movies than Hollywood every year, and they seem to only generally get attention in India, and even in India, International films seem to be more popular than their own (judging by their box office results)I am not a racist in any way whatsoever, in fact I have at least 7 friends who were born in India and came to America during their childhood. I am just a harsh critic, and I certainly hope some writer, or producer finds this and realizes that a change is in need, and not all films have to be musical comedies where a girl and guy serenade each other throughout the film. THERE IS OTHER MATERIAL OUT THERE AND India IS A VERY INSPIRATIONAL COUNTRY!
Better Off Dead... (1985)
TOO Good!
Excellent 80's movie. I don't think it could've been much better. It was cliché, but in a very good way. A lot of people might remember the south park episode with the skiing in Aspen, which was heavily influenced by this movie. The director chose a very good cartoony style for this movie, which went very well with the movies plot (e.g. the overblown suicide attempts, and the various larger than life characters). As a child this movie basically taught me about dating and was definitely one of my favorites then, and even now. I recommend this to any fans of the John Hughes movies of the 80's, as well as the Harold Ramis films.
Jingle All the Way (1996)
Excellent piece of neo-noir iconoclastic culture clash cinema!
The lighting was by far the greatest achievement in cinematic lighting history. The film was very reminiscent of the proto-noir films of the early 19th century. The acting spotlight shines on Schwarzenegger in his groundbreaking performance that surely signifies him as the best of the best. I love the way the director chose to incorporate both thematic elements, such as the character trapped in a situation and making choices out of desperation or nihilistic moral systems, and visual elements, such as Turbo man's heroic performances. This was hands-down the most groundbreaking piece of the 20th century, and will vastly influence generations to come. "I LIED"-Arnie(Commando)
Freddy Got Fingered (2001)
Are you Kidding me, 3.6?
Tom Green is a Genius. Be honest, have any of you ever seen a character like this. Have any of you ever seen humor like this before Tom Green? This reminds me a lot of his skits on his show(which is hilarious)I cannot believe the jerks who actually voted this movie a 1. How could you actually sit down and watch this movie in its entirety, and not find it hysterical. All of you must have some sense of humor, you probably watch movies like "Mr. Smith Goes To Washington", and laugh, as if the movie was intentionally funny. This movie is worth of at least a 7.0, and those who agree, please take the time out to vote, or to show your friends this beautifal movie.
Thumbsucker (2005)
Completely Idiotic Plot
The reason I gave this movie a five is simple. There are no better ways to put this other than it was a really bad story. The director did the best with what he had, but with the plot it almost seemed too funny to be a drama. It was hilarious whenever the father would catch him. It was like he caught him smoking or something. The relationship between him and his mother was downright awkward to just watch, however there were some cool elements to this film. The relationship between him and his girlfriend was probably the most normal, believable, and romantic part of this film. His steps to overcoming his habit is also a good element, but overall this movie had a very inconsistent plot which switched from scenario to scenario way too quick, not to mention the plain ridiculous idea of the plot. ** out of ****
The Fly II (1989)
The Point Of The Movie Was Missed
The special effects may have been hokey, but let them aside. It was realistic in that Martin Brundle was half-fly giving him the shortened lifespan, and half-human which gave him human traits. The real main point of this movie was to show us that people will do anything to get their hands on some money, which is why the corporation neglects the horribly mutated dog, and treats it like the monster it was. One of the things I liked was they gave him a lover, showing that even as a freak he has basic human needs. The boy aged to become (physically) a 35 year old man, when he was 5 human years, and soon went into a cocoon phase, before finally turning into a fly. Towards the end he goes on a killing spree to get to the man at the head of the corporation, and eventually he is cross bred with the man giving him back his humanity, and showing the boss, the hell that he faced as being a "freak". Over all it was a cool plot, but the effects were a tad overboard even for the 80's.
Day of the Dead 2: Contagium (2005)
Disgrace
This movie made no sense whatsoever, had nothing to do with the original "Day Of The Dead" at all, and if there were realistic zombie movies, this certainly isn't one of them. The way the virus is spread is even ridiculous. Why would someone want to steal a little cylinder if they don't even know what was in it? The zombies all feel the pain from each other, and are supposed to copy the exact movements of each other, yet in every other scene they're off doing their own thing. The end tried to be sappy with a suicide that saved the day, but that scene just made me feel better about the fact that this crappy movie finally ended!
