Avanti! (1972)
What a disappointment!
At least the views of Italy are wonderful. The premise had SO much promise, but the movie script was SO disappointing. I could've written more entertaining and humorous dialogue and I've never written a screenplay. It was dull, depressing, dragging and horribly hackneyed. It was so sexist that my wife left about 1/3 of the way through. I also found it offensive that they kept referring to Juliet Mills as FAT, when she was NOTHING of the kind. My goodness what a waste of a comic genius talent in Jack Lemon.
Magic Stocking (2015)
Posterfilm for missed potential
I thought this had the makings of a decent film, but the lead female character, who is the unquestioned love interest of the leading man, is a messed up jerk. It makes it hard to follow the movie when you see the male lead, who is described as having every single woman in town flocking to him, chasing this seriously messed up and mean basket case. For me a heroine has to actually BE lovable for a love story to be somewhat believable. I've seen this problem a lot in Hallmark movies and always wonder why?
A Merry Christmas Match (2019)
If this is indicative of this year's Hallmark Xmas lineup - gonna be a BORING holiday
Like most Hallmark movies, it's plodding and hackneyed, but they portray the leading character as one very irresistible to the leading man - yet she's an absolute PILL.. The male lead is portrayed as being able to have any woman he wants - rich, good looking, nice, considerate, etc... there is no way he would pine and fall for such a pain. Definitely can't recommend this and certainly won't watch again..
Christmas Under Wraps (2014)
One of the worst Hallmark holiday movies ever
Good lord, did NO ONE in the crew know that it's almost always dark and very, very cold in Alaska at Christmas??? My 9 year old kid knows that. Could they have put and LESS effort into making this lousy movie? (Weak plot, bad acting, even worse writing and directing.) Oye.
Angels in the Snow (2015)
Oye what a disappointment
The premise could have been a good movie, but this is terribly directed and written. The female lead, Judith is a horrid character that I wanted to clobber the entire movie. I get that she's unhappy with her husband, but she spends the majority of the movie treating him with such hatred, and loathing - with every comment to him dripping with contempt that she's a truly despicable person. Then to believe that she suddenly changes her stripes and falls back in love with him in a matter of hours - what a bunch of garbage. What a shame - the story had potential, but ended up being a waste of time.
A Street Cat Named Bob (2016)
I loved, loved, loved it!
Okay, first and foremost - if you like cats, even a little, you HAVE to see this. I just watched on a whim, all the time thinking - what a nice little story, but no way it's very believable. THEN, I found out it that it's real - based on a true story and it blew my mind. I truly enjoyed the acting and Bob is as lovable as they come. I had put this on as "something to watch" while doing some work... only to realize that I wasn't working and couldn't stop watching the movie. I don't recommend many movies to people, but this is solidly on the list. Enjoy!
Drinking Buddies (2013)
Wow... that was a lot of wasted film
If you like shots of people sitting, driving hanging out and not doing much, then this is your flick. As for me, too little happened, it was hackneyed and transparent nearly from the start and almost as big of waste of film as Somewhere.
I couldn't recommend this and am sorry that I watched it, even though it had great talent, they couldn't overcome a weak plot.
