Earthworm Jim (1995)
Now here is a great parody based series
Earthworm Jim is a series steamed from a popular early 90s video game which managed to score a 100% satisfactory grade from a game magazine.
The storyline, which is incorporated in the theme song, is about an ordinary earthworm, who is lucky enough to have a super suit, meant for an evil doer on another planet fall on him, giving him super powers. He teams up with a cursed puppy, a living blob of snot and a beautiful space princess he has fallen in love with, together they fight evil villains throughout space and protect the planet Earth.
Many parody central series (not mentioning many names) fail in epic proportions down to their key element, the lack of story line, yet where many fail, 'Earthworm Jim' triumphs.
The reason I feel 'Earthworm Jim' manages to gain attention among other 'random' series' is the fact that we get to know all characters, their connections to each other, their circumstances and intentions in brief yet detailed scenes. With wacky scenarios and reoccurring villains, viewers know what to expect without feeling disappointed by predictability.
Sôru îtâ (2008)
Brilliant!!! Soon to be classic
Soul Eater is a fairly new anime and manga series in which demons weapons and masters work together, attend a school and carry out missions.
The story starts with main characters 'Maka' and 'Soul', Maka being Soul's master and soul being the demon weapon. Soul and Maka are one step away from gaining a high title, yet are disappointed when all their passed hard work is wiped clean by one easy mistake, resulting in them having to start from scratch. As the story progresses, you are introduced to 'Black Star' and his demon weapon 'Tsubaki' and 'Kid' with his demon weapons 'Liz and Patty'.
While watching the series, you will gain some incite into the characters histories.
Soul Eater is a unique series as it manages to be light hearted, entertaining, up-beat and sinister!!! :o Flawless, must see series.
P.S. Sorry if there are any spelling mistakes!!! :o
The Replacements (2006)
Rather Bad cartoon - Great voice actors.
What can I say, this cartoon in on early in the morning and sends me straight back to sleep.
To a young impressionable child, many cartoons are great down to their bright colours, hyperactivity and high pitch voices, yet unlike many other cartoons, this lacks the substance many present and past cartoons contain.
This serise consist of very little storyline, from watching a couple of episodes, I have found that the basis of this story is... Two orphans (little is known of their past are adopted by a bizarre couple - A stunt man dad and secret agent mother. The children are now able to contact an agency in which they can 'replace' anybody in their lives who they are unhappy with (teacher, babysitter, neighbour) with somebody displaying the characteristics of their choise.
This series could make for a great parody based show. Parody being the key word, as each episode is different, meaning that a great episode could well be the making of this show, yet so far, this entire cartoon is lackadaisical in structure, animation within background art, enthusiasm, character development and entertainment value.
This series could do with many improvements, yet on the plus side, this still has the time to do so, being a Disney serise, it has the boost many other cartoons don't. Their are many great voice actors making this serise too, such as Nancy Cartwright (The Simpsons, Kim Possible, Rugrats) and Grey DeLisle (Avatar, Fairly Odd Parents, Billy and Mandy).
