Skinamarink (2022)
Boring
Honestly, retro audio with a lot of noise, betamax quality video, set in a dark environment, not pointing the camera at the actual action. Just the random angles, the ocasional jump scares. The movie did not scare me, it is very disorienting, it should have started with an epilepsy "might trigger seizures" due to flashing lights, the constant flickering gave me a headache.
Plot: parents talking about sleepwalking child that fell down the stairs, sister dies halfway through, boy gets stalked by an unseen force. THE END
In my opinion this is more of what the boy experienced when he died after he fell down the stairs.
Ellipse (2019)
Some people think this was bad, but let me explain
Yes, the movie is categorized as a science fiction movie taking place in an oval shaped alien planet.
The mangoes, Apple Watch, and weird outer space gravity effects has all the cues of a low budget science fiction movie.
But this movie is more about survival, a man and his dog, love and loss, paired with the harsh reality of life.
People expect the main protagonist to be a macho man that can overcome anything, but since the movie portrayed the exact opposite, it got a low rating.
When you look at the resume of the people who made this film, you can guess that it was either a student film, or two failed cinematographers got bored and made a movie.
Being (2019)
Waste of time.
If you want to watch a movie where a bunch of Christian nuts believe that an alien being is a demon, then this one is for you. If not, then skip this one, not worth the 90 minutes.
The Kingdom of Var (2019)
Horrible student film
This movie has the vibe of a student movie made using $500 and a camcorder, using very outdated visual effects,, really if you are using rubber props, make sure you either make them hyper realistic or don't film the movie in HD, the audio was crap, I give the sound department a big fat F. Knowing that this was a student film, why did it made it out of the classroom?
The Dark Tapes (2016)
Not terrible but not good.
For a cheezy found footage horror movie I found on the internet it delivered a good set of stories, with cheap practical effects. Not perfect, but I found it better than Paranormal Activity.
Lake on Fire (2016)
Boring
Like 70 minutes of watching college kids pretending to have a TV show, getting drunk and having "fun", and then 20 minutes of a supposed "alien encounter" which by the looks of the ending scene it was a prank pulled by the bored security guards.
ISRA 88 (2016)
BORING
That is 2 hours I will never get back. Looks like he crashed into a blank universe and got stuck in a time loop, not very original, the ending will leave you in a WTF moment.. Honestly, skip this one.
Invasion (2021)
Whoever wrote this should be fired.
This is written to be like a "chick flick" science fiction movie. All I see is crying, running and screaming. Honestly 3 episodes in and I haven't seen an alien, this is like low budget alien sci-fi where the aliens are invisible or turn out to be human.
The Resort (2021)
Boring
The movie is 75 minutes long and the last 15 is only mildly amusing.
Earthrise (2014)
Bad writting.
Nowhere in the story explains where the hallucinations came from. The end left me to arrive at my own conclusion that they all died of hypoxia while in transit and the white light that came from the door was the afterlife.
Aerials (2016)
Is this a student film?
I have seen other crappy sci fi movies on Netflix but they turn out to be student films, but this one has to be one of the crappiest ever.
First Light (2018)
Thought it was a low budget teen sci fi
This movie was crap, like a very bad version of a teen Cocoon that was written by a 14 year old.
OtherLife (2017)
Not bad
Kept me in the edge of my seat for the second half of the movie. In general, looks like an Aussie version of a Total Recall prequel
Assimilate (2019)
Teen remake of a horror classic
This movie looks like a remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers but made for teens. All it was missing was the kid at the end was assimilated and waiting for her sister to arrive.
ARQ (2016)
Plot hole
The movie was progressing nicely, but the "plot twist" made a plot hole that made me question the writing.
Doctor Who: Orphan 55 (2020)
Still cringing
The whole plot twist made me cringe, I was about to change the channel but the episode only had 10 minutes left before it ended, so I let it play out.
Doctor Who: Praxeus (2020)
Preachy
Honestly, an episode preaching about microplastic pollution in the oceans. I rather watch National Geographic do a documentary about the topic.
Doctor Who: The Witchfinders (2018)
Finally! A good old fashioned alien invasion
Nice episode to the natural rhythm of Doctor Who and not a politically fueled one.
