Barbie (2023)
Somewhere there is a good story
For starters this movie was made by women for women. I was not the intended audience, which is fine. But I feel like there is a good story somewhere hidden here, or there could have been one. That everyone could have really liked.
The movie is well made; I could tell that the people who made the movie liked Barbie, and knew their stuff. And that bleed into the movie. It has a cool set, lot's of creative choices and has good actors. With some genuinely funny gags and jokes.
The cons: Some movies are great pieces of art, where you can't nail down what exactly the movie is about or trying to say. The classic disney movies like Beauty and the Beast, Peter Pan Pinocchio are good examples where they more about exploring ideas and themes.
Then there some films like Atlas Shrugged where you know exactly what it's trying to say from the get-go. This is one of the those films, except it doesn't just focus on one message but three or four awkwardly placed one after another. This film felt like a first draft and could of used a couple rewrites to tighten it up.
I don't think this film could ever decided what it wanted to be. And it tried to be too many things at once making it a little nonsensical. And all the main characters were brought together in a very inorganic way. There was even this car chase scene in middle which I believe they wrote in for strict purpose of doing a car commercial for Chevrolet.
Also there were some very weird parts of the movie. Where the messaging was just wrong in so many ways. I'll just give one example and finish on that. At the end Barbie is sad because the patriarchy won but is roused when the mom did a rant about all the problems women have. But she is wrong, everything she listed weren't women problems they were people problems. That's life. I sorry but it's not the fact you are a women that you struggle with being either a respected boss or a liked boss. Go talk to Machiaveli. These are problems everyone has.
Anyway that's my review. I hope it's balanced and fair and gave you a good idea about what this film is .

A good movie to see in theaters
For this movie setting the right expectations is important to enjoy. Go the theaters with friends to see to see Adam Driver kill dinosaurs and you will have a fun time. But there isn't much more to it than that lol.
Basic plot is Adam Driver the most unlucky man gets stranded on planet and escapes with gurl while killing a lot of dinosaurs. So the plot is pretty basic, other things cinematography is a little awkward at times for example the title card comes in about 20 minutes into the movie.
Just filling in the character limit at this point, other things that don't make that much sense; dinosaurs shouldn't be that obsessed with him, astroid wouldn't be on fire till entering the atmosphere, girl puts poison berry juice on the stick for no reason, and how did that bug get in her mouth? And does it make sense to send people on on exploration missions.
But yah all that is just nit-picky and doesn't really matter. Just watch it without thinking to much, and you'll enjoy!
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022)
*sigh*
After two hours of telling a story if the audience doesn't care what the characters do or don't do that's a bad sign. Dialogue was like chewing cardboard. Acting was passable but didn't have anyone that breathed life into the show like Ian McKellen or Martin Freeman.
When I think of Lord of the Rings; the books, the cartoons, the movies, I think they are fun, heartwarming and endearing. In my humble opinion the show has none of those qualities.
Really wished i did like it, but it just has too man writing problems for me to enjoy. Every episode there is about a thousand little nit picky things that take me out. But if you like it I'm jealous! Keep enjoying it and don't let anyone tell you different!
Foundation (2021)
It's a six
You can tell a lot of money was spent on it, so production is A+. And they added a lot of extra detail to the story. Which was fine and even welcome at some parts. So I was really excited until the last couple minutes of the first episode, where I realized the show was going to take a 90 degree deviation from the story.
And I know the arguments people have; "the book doesn't matter, this is a new story". But you know what? You know why people like Foundation, and why a studio felt the need to make it into a TV show? Because the story was good, the characters where good, the themes were interesting. And it sucks to see they decided to take a different creative decisions.
But overall production really good, acting is done well enough. Enjoy the show.
The Green Mile (1999)
Mr. Jangles is a mouse
Warning: this movie will hurt you, and you're heart will not be the same.
The Punisher (2017)
Frank Castle is Moby Dick
You know I thought it was a little on the nose when Frank was reading Moby Dick. The writers were saying 'Frank is Ahab chasing a prey that he'll never catch and end up destroying him.' But later when David was seen reading life of Pi, it made sense he was Pi learning to survive with a tiger(Frank Castle) in his stranded boat. And when Bill was reading picture of dorian grey he was Dorian, pretty on the outside disgusting on the inside, hinting at his betrayal. He was living life of a bachelor, partying, sexing it up, and destroying his soul which at the end reflects on his face. Then it hit me. But if the pattern holds true they are the ones reading the book are the titular character. Frank isn't Ahab chasing vengence. He is Moby Dick, an uncatchable force of destruction. Unique and alone in the world, and ready to destroy anything that comes for it. Moby Dick represents death. Frank Castle if it wasn't already clear with the giant white skull on his shirt also is a harbinger of death.
Not really a review, sorry! Just a little english essay.
Norm Macdonald: Hitler's Dog, Gossip & Trickery (2017)
Norm the man
I can't get enough of Norm McDonald. Norm needs to do more specials. I have watched this multiple times, and it's still great.

No chance of finding anything better than this. You couldn't expect or ask for more. This episode should have reached every critics critique. The pacing was nice and steady. Great resolution. Soundtrack was on point. Visually it was an overdose of beautiful shots. #numberoneanime
