Don't Worry Darling (I) (2022)

LOVED it
24 September 2022
It's tough to write a review for this movie without spoiling it. Great twist in the third act that I did not see coming. Acting was spot on. Florence is so captivating and I loved watching her. Harry did a great job as usual. Chris, Olivia, all pros and it shows. I really want to see it again now that I know what's going on. I love those kinds of movies where you think you know what's going on and it does a complete 180. Do yourself a favor and just stop reading the reviews. Seriously, put your phone down and go see it because the less you know the better. Beware of the giggling teens (just sayin).

A peek behind the curtain
21 December 2021
Very well done. It was wonderful to get a peek behind the curtain and see the real people behind the characters we all grew up with. Lucy was a powerhouse, strong willed and determined, and I'm sure it wasn't easy in that day and age. Nicole Kidman completely became Lucille Ball. She was amazing, especially in the "I Love Lucy" scenes. Bravo.

More Hamish please
21 February 2021
I spent all day watching this series. I really enjoyed it. There were so many storylines, you think you're waiting to find out what happens during one story line and then it crosses with another. Definitely kept me on my toes. As far as I'm concerned, Hamish stole every scene he was in. More please.

Time of Death (2013)

A look behind the curtain
20 October 2020
In my personal experience, death is such an unknown. I know it's coming, and as the birthdays add up, the fact that I know so little about this inevitable event becomes more and more apparent. I only know death by what I see in movies. This documentary, and the families who so graciously allowed us to peek behind the curtain, helps shine a light on a transition that we all go through. What a gift to us all. I came away from this documentary looking at this step in life as a progression to transformation. Not an ending, but a becoming. Of what? Who knows. But I am grateful for the chance to watch others take that journey through this documentary, and I commend their families for bravely sharing their stories with us.

Ad Astra (2019)

I am looking forward to the day my solitude ends, and I am home.

Similar to another space favorite "Gravity"' this movie really isn't about space. It's about loss and grief, and how we as humans compartmentalize that pain and how we ultimately learn how to come to terms with it. This is a profoundly moving movie, subtle yet impactful. Beautifully moving and insightful. Thank you to the makers of this movie.

I really wanted to like this one
10 December 2019
I've been eagerly anticipating this movie for a while. I can't put my finger on it, but there's something off about it. There's good dialogue, great actors, a story we all should be able to relate to, but it does not hit the mark. This is a couple that cares about each other. They know each other so well and yet they're acting so surprised about not understanding each other fundamentally. It just doesn't ring true. I will say that Laura Dern completely took me by surprise. This isn't her typical type of character and she completely knocks it out of the park.

Thank you for the reminder that things are not always black and white
11 July 2019
This documentary is in two parts. After watching the first part I was convinced that this young girl was desperately trying to get attention from her peers and going about it through the death of her boyfriend. After watching the second part I am in tears and all I want to do is make sure that my children know that they are not alone and that they are loved. Things are not black and white. There are many nuances to every situation and this documentary did an incredible job in dissecting what is a very complex situation. This was a very unfortunate event, and my heart goes out to both sides. We, as parents, need to take a more active role in our children's lives. It is very difficult to be a teenager in the world today. Thank you for this documentary, you did an excellent job.
