A movie by someone who describes himself as 'Theocratic fascist'
9 June 2023
Hello everybody,

feel free to read a user review that is not written by a trump-supporting conservative!

The amount if ignorance regarding proven facts in this movie is insane. Well okay, if you simply stop ignoring every single publication that came out after lets say 2010, this movie might actually be scientifically accurate but 'sadly' we live in 2023 with lots of new findings.

That this movie is highly manipulative and even cuts sequences in a very weird way, where people basically want to confirm what Matt wants to express but do it in a slightly different way than he expected, should be no surprise for anyone.

Also it is also quite weird that he interviews a lot of old people and confronts them with these kind of topics without them having any kind of qualification regarding these topics. Go out there in the city and ask 60+ people about certain topics, you might be surprised how backwards and insulting the answers are you will get.

And as a last bit of information that might offer some very helpful context here is that the author of this movie thinks it's 'perfectly natural' to impregnate a 16 year old female and describes himself as a 'theocratic fascist'.

Dogs of Berlin (2018– )
3/10
Not worth it, completely inauthentic
3 June 2023
Hello everybody who is interested in a review about this show called 'Dogs of Berlin'!

I would not recommend watching this show of you expect a minimum level of niveau and authenticity because this show sadly has not much to offer regarding these topics.

The characters are flat and predictable, so many things could have been portraied much more realistically and believably.

The many positive reviews that say the show is 'gritty' are probably impressed by simply showing drugs, weapons and violence of inauthentic criminals.

I personally would recommend to watch "4 Blocks" first, since it does many things much better and kinda serves and offers the same topics and plot.

The Forest (2017)

There are many better alternatives out there

Compared to other series in this genre this one is rather disappointing. I would definitely recommend to watch "13 commandments", "The Chestnut man" or the unrivaled "The Bridge" before watching this one, since they do their job in a much better way.

Hysterical and unenjoyable protagonist, weird and partially absurd ways of thinking of characters, there was no immersive atmospheric tension build up in this series.

For me the best thing about this series was the cinematics and how the forest and the local nature was entangled and included in the story and the plot of the series.

So if you have not watched the other ones I mentioned above, i would definitely recommend watching them first!

Ignore the bad reviews, these people had wrong expectations about a horror movie
16 July 2020
Every good review on this movie simply says: exciting and simple movie with nice effects, worth a watch! The momentary score of 7.1 is adequate.

Every bad review is like: " i liked the first 2/3 of the movie because it handled the topic of domestic violence and it's impact on today's society so well, but then it simply lost it's spirit and had nothing interesting to say anymore...." ..........

It's a horror / thriller movie, if you have watched the trailer or have read the title, it should become obvious, that this movie is not meant to have any meaningful philosophical message, it's main purpose is to entertain.

solid logicial thrilling scifi movie

Warning: Spoilers
"Only" 90 minutes with a fast pace, you get to the main plot fast, no unnecessary long intros.

Nice twists and logical and comprehensible behaviour of all characters, I liked the choice of the actors.

if you enjoyed the first one, you will enjoy this one too!

As some other reviewers have already wrote here, in comparison to the first movie this one does not have one contiunous main story so to say, rather a few (sometimes suddenly ending) side stories, BUT the main thing that makes these two movies enjoyable is not the main story or character development, it's the discussions they have about random stuff while combining it with some typical stoner humor. And the second movie has a lot of these hilarious discussions and situations, which makes it ( in my opinion) as good as the first one, but only if you have seen and enjoyed the first one.

I would not recommend watching this movie without having seen the first one, if you are unsure if you will like it.

Cut Off (2018)
7/10
very solid exciting thriller movie
26 October 2019
Very stable and solid exciting thriller movie with a decent amount of brutality which is shown in a very graphic way. Some nice twists, a good portion of humor, good choice of german actors imho, Just a very solid and reliable 7 I would say, nothing really special or outstanding though that would make it a 8 or higher.

2 words: predictable and boring
17 October 2019
It's so sad that in this modern times 99% of all movies are recycled ideas, we have already seen in a much better way. I can only explain this good rating by the fact, that many young people, who have never seen any of the good old movies made before 2010, are now into reviewing movies, because it is completely mind-boggling to read that anybody enjoyed this movie and found it exciting, interesting or entertaining in any other way.

Black Mirror: Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too (2019)
Season 5, Episode 3
7/10
definitely not black mirror, BUT...
16 June 2019
... definitely not deserving a 6/10. Of course it is not Black Mirror aynmore, I mean only the first 2 seasons have been the original Black Mirror we all love, season 3 and 4 are relatively bad compared to this season, hence I am happy that there was an improvement instead of just producing another season in the style of the 3rd and 4th.

if you are not allergic to a slightly slower tempo...
15 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
.. you might really love this episode. The first 20 minutes are indeed a little bit slow, but for me the incredible acting makes up for it. After that small twist the tempo increases and is fast enough for most people, as most comments say.

The topic is extremely weird, but i really enjoyed it,since i had no expectation or pre-knowledge of what might happen whatsoever, hence making it even more exciting and tense.

Luckily there was a kinda satisfying ending, if the ending would be bad it would kind of ruin the whole point of this episode.

it was ok to watch
25 May 2019
The suspense and the unfolding of the plot is well done, really nice pacing etc, but for me the movie seemed to be made for rather stupid people, because most scenes have been insanely predictable.

The "twist" at the end of the movie is not really a twist at all, except for people who enjoy thimbleriggers and are shocked afterwards when all you're money is gone. It's not a surprise, you are just stupid. The same concept applies for the ending of this movie.

After Life (2019–2022)

beautifully sad without being cheesy or cliche
25 May 2019
Beautiful and sad series, I either cried or laughed while watching it.

Even if you do not like the writing and acting style of Gervais, I would still recommend trying a few episodes because it definitely is a different and more sincere and "serious" kind of topic which is portraied in a mildly funny manner.

Buried (2010)
4/10
i dont get the hype
25 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Careful some spoilers!!!

The only reason I watched this movie was the mainly positive reviews it got, but after watching it, I was solely disappointed.

When I invest 95 minutes of my lifetime to watch a movie where the entire plot takes place in a coffin, I expect to be surprised, I expect some twists, some unexpected turns, etc. Otherwise you could actually just put someone in a coffin and film him until he dies.

In this movie though things really just go bad one after another, I did not understand the whole snake thing and why he tries to burn everything after the snake crawled peacefully out of this pants and how it could just escape through that hole in the coffin, for me this is a logical mistake of the movie.

Then at the end, we need some "saw"-like action apparently, but since he cannot reach his foot in the coffin, he has to cut off one of his fingers, god knows why.

And then the end is just weird, it may be different and unexpected, I'll give you that, but just because something is different and unexpected does NOT mean it is good or entertaining.

For me this movie only serves one purpose and that is to immersively feel the claustrophobic panic and fear of death that comes by being buried alive, but for me that is just not entertaining. If that would be enough, we could make a thousand movies like that, where people are on a submarine and then drown, where people are in a burning building and then die, etc etc.
