Searching (III) (2018)
5/10
Irritating
2 January 2024
I think you could have filmed this entire movie on your cell phone and computer. Virtually no acting of any note. Just a dad searching the internet for his missing daughter. And the plot is so unrealistic. A volunteer cop runs the investigation. Come on. I enjoy slow burn who done it mysteries but this just didn't intrigue me from the beginning. It was just irritating to watch dad search and search the internet. I think Netflix just needed a filler. And it looked good. It just wasn't. Boring from the beginning until the bitter bitter end. Which didn't come soon enough. I would avoid this film.

Extraordinary!

Not all movies are meant to entertain. Some movies are meant to inform or to educate. Some movies are meant to explain how life really is for some people. This movie stands at the pinnacle for trying to help others comprehend mental heath issues that very few people understand. If you haven't lived that life, please shut up and save your artistic criticisms for another movie. I don't care what you think. This movie tried to look at the mental health issue from all sides - parent, child, and other loved ones. It was gut wrenching. It was an extraordinarily realistic depiction of what goes on in a family torn apart by mental health battles. Life becomes a war zone. And during the battle or after the war you begin to reflect and it tears you apart. You ask yourself what just happened. You ask yourself how it happened. And guess what - you have no answers to your questions. Bravo Mr. Zeller.

Nothing Anywhere Ever
7 May 2023
The Academy Awards has lost its way. This movie was the last straw in giving any credence to their idea of best picture of the year. This movie was pointless, stupid, and worse than a complete waste of time. I am embarrassed that I hung in for the finish. Although I must say I was very happy to see the final words "the end." I am still numb from trying to figure out the point. I believe if this was a film student's first attempt at a movie the professor would kindly nudge him into a different career path. I would like to explain what this movie is all about but I have absolutely no idea. Do yourself a favor and do not watch this film.

Unwatchable
5 April 2023
I was eager to watch a new movie about Elvis and learn more about his life. I wanted to understand more about him as a person and as a showman. However, from the very beginning I was lost. About halfway through I asked my if she understood what the movie was about and if she was enjoying it. She had the same thoughts as I did. Great singing performance by the lead actor but we were both lost as to the storyline. It just seemed like a long music video interspersed with some strange angle shots of Tom Hanks as Col Parker. His character was scary, weird and distorted. We finally gave up when we realized there truly was no point to the movie.

Rather boring movie
31 January 2023
I love history, especially WWII history and really wanted to like this movie. I never heard of this battle and was excited to learn the story. However, the script was so underdeveloped that you never really followed any particular character. You didn't fall in love with any of the characters. You didn't really care if one of the characters lived or died. Nor was there any drama or suspenseful moments. There was no real plot or interesting twist and turns. Some of the character were clearly miscast like the German general. He looked like a janitor in a uniform. If you're bored it is an okay movie.

Depressing
16 August 2022
I saw the reviews and thought it would be great. It's not. If you like watching a family that hates each other and loves to degrade each other - this is the show for you. It is vulgar, depressing and hateful.

I don't get it

It was okay the first season. Everyone kept telling me they enjoyed it so I stuck it out. Very depressing story of a family that learns to love evil. If you like gratuitous violence and the f word in every sentence - this is the show for you. Otherwise, I would recommend avoiding this depressing saga. There is not one redeeming thing about this series. Except that it is finally over.

Profound movie

This is a movie about learning. Learning the prospective of life from another human being coping with dementia. It also examines the lives of the loved ones involved. I have dealt with multi generational dementia and this perfectly captured what life is like for all involved. Anthony Hopkins was incredible. He was not acting, he was the elderly man with dementia. You didn't see a performance - you saw someone's life through their own eyes.

Very thought provoking

This movie came to my attention because of all the oscars it won. It started a little slow but then we began to get into the history and emotions of time period just after England entered the war. We thought how we would react if the war came so close to our home. To me, it a sort of had a Gone with the Wind feel to it and how life changed so quickly. It definitely has some very unexpected twists and turns. Highly recommended.

Just plain irritating

My wife and I really wanted to like this movie. We tried to watch it 20 years ago. I figured we must have missed something so we watched again. Turns out we didn't miss anything. It was very painful watch and we quit after 30 minutes. I would highly recommend you not watch this movie.

Not good at all
3 June 2021
To be fair I only watched the first three seasons. It was rated so highly I felt I must be missing something. I wasn't. It is just bad cinema. Not horrible, just not interesting. I think many of the characters are terribly miscast. They are not believable and the plot is thin. And there are no distinguishable good guys and bad guys. So far they are all bad. I'm not sure how it ends, I'm just glad it is over for me. If you want to watch a similar theme that is excellent try "The Last Kingdom".

Bad cinema
20 May 2021
So I saw this movie when it first came out and thought it was hokey. A bunch of Italians trying to speak with Spanish accents. Weird. Add to it a ridiculous story line and you have it. A terrible movie. It was on Netflix recently and rated 8.5 by IMDB so I thought maybe I missed something. I didn't. Still bad. Don't waste your time.

A must see film

Alfred Hitchcock at his best. The book is extraordinary and he stays true to the book. You don't really understand the plot line and intense emotions of the characters until the very end. Well done!

Okay, I have to admit I did not know what was going on till the end. But it was not worth the journey. I would not recommend this movie.

Complete waste of time
31 January 2020
I am stunned that anyone would consider this movie to be anything but an appalling waste of time. I've had a more enjoyable time waiting to be seen in an emergency room at a hospital. The best part is when it finally ended. I'm glad Polanski is in exile.

What happened?
23 January 2019
I watched this movie because I enjoy Philip Seymour Hoffman's acting. And he did a good job with his character Gunther Bachman. However as I watched the movie I kept wondering where they were going with the storyline. I really wanted to like it, but if I had to summarize the movie - it is two hours of watching Gunther Bachman smoke and drink and spy on people. At the end I finally realized that I just wasted two hours of my life. I would steer clear of this one.
