Home of the Brave (2006)
killing in the name of freedom and democracy.......
i wonder why people don't like this movie? Obviously, they have never lived a war. All they stick to, is the heroism and patriotism, as seen in Hollywood. Well, i'm telling you this: i'm from lebanon, and i lived all the wars possible. So, i guess i know what i'm talking about, more then someone who's just seen too much TV.
war is business: you just do it to get your hands on oil, sell weapons and arms, even sell plastic hands and legs . SELL HUMAN SPARE PARTS!!!! in the movie, they suggested she could buy a plastic hand for 21 000 $.
Funny thing is that soldiers are dying just to defend the business of their leaders. And what's more hypocrite is that everything is apparently done in the name of democracy and freedom. Great movie. 10/10
Apocalypto (2006)
Some scenes reminded me of what happened in my country
I'm from the middle east. When i was 14, invading soldiers rushed in our villages and cities to commit the exact violences as those i saw in Mel Gibson's greatest achievement so far: apocalypto.
So, let us not fool ourselves: we haven't really evolved, and the twenty first century still witnesses some of those violent scenes on a regular basis.
Let's learn from this movie, let's learn a lot. Lifes of ordinary people are changed everyday. We might not be holding sacrifices anymore, but killing is still going on and on, in the name of freedom, peace and love! No, we haven't learnt a thing yet.
Once again, Mel comes out with the ultimate movie: i simply give it a 10/10.
Donnie Darko (2001)
something is missing
something is missing about this movie. the concept is good, the ideas are great, but....
some of the actors had no meaningful presence whatsoever: drew barrymore and patrick swayze.
i think it was a marketing idea, to attract people into watching the movie.
furthermore, that bunny suit was everything but spooky. it was damn stupid.
overall, i think it's tough to understand the movie. maybe i'm not smart enough? to be fair, i'd give it a 5/10. trust me, you can avoid it.
Mortuary (2005)
awfully bad movie
i'm a huge horror movie fan, especially in the zombie style.
when i first laid my hands on this movie at my local DVD store, i thought "that's it". but, truly, this has got absolutely nothing to do with dead coming back to life, to feed on the living. the story is so incoherent, the zombies look stupid, and the events turnout really missed a character that was supposed to be into it: bobby fowler...
not even worth spending your money on it.
i've been watching those recent horror movies, and boy are they crap!!!! please stop the industry of horror movies, because you're gonna ruin the whole experience for new generations willing to become fans of this genre.
Vampiyaz (2004)
Please shoot me
i went to the DVD store, hoping to rent a good thrilling, chilling piece of art. As many people i guess, i got taken by the beautiful box, and the nice text written on its back: vampires, dead people walking the streets... That's what i was expecting. Until i saw the movie and realized how awful it was. I really mean it: everything about it is terrible: the acting, the effects, the succession of events...Especially the guy they kill in the first place, the one who was dressed in pink like a baby!!! Why???? I also laughed a lot at the shooting effect: it was more like light coming out of the guns. And if you really want to watch it, please take your time to laugh at the part where the guy is using a cut off hand to taste blood in a platter. Why the hand? Couldn't he just put the blood in a glass and drink it??? The movie is a failure. But watch it, just so you know what failure means!!!
Wedding Crashers (2005)
Cute movie
I really enjoyed watching wedding crashers. The movie is light, Olwen Wilson is as usual successful in his part...Yet, i think that there are lots of scenes that have been repeated over and over in the movies...Pouring a laxative in someone's drink in order to "annoy him and get him out of the way in the rude competition to claim the princess's heart...". Funny, but classy.Wedding crashers is the kind of movies you'd enjoy watching if you're really bored, tired, angry, or just need something to ease you down. I'd recommend it in this respect. In a general way, it's a very good movie. The title is very well placed. But i wouldn't personally rank it among the "best in years".
