Greyhawk (2014)
Unexpectedly exhilarating
I found this film rather uplifting.
From the set up - bitter tough army veteran, bleak London housing estate, thuggish yobs, no hope anywhere - you expect it to go all "Harry Brown"/any of a 100 urban revenge movies at any moment and for him to at least beat the crap out of the little scum. Indeed, you want him to! Stealing a blind man's guide dog?! That's low!
That it DOESN'T keeps you totally on the edge of your seat. In this is the film's true message of humanity striving against cruelty and hopelessness. The acting is excellent and believable throughout. Well done to all involved in making this.
People have said it's a bit slow/thin, but it realistic. Less is more! (There were a couple of scenes rather literally in the dark, but, hey, he's blind!).
