Fun to watch
20 March 2022
This film is not comparable to most of Soderbergh's classic films like "Traffic" but it was simply fun to watch on a Friday night at home with popcorn and milk duds! I like the way Soderbergh incorporated current social technology as well as the mental impact of the living conditions during the pandemic into his storyline without boring the audience. I have seen several filmmakers try to do this and the storyline was not captivating whatsoever.

So bad until it gave me a headache
19 March 2022
This story could have been told in one episode. I stopped watching in the middle of episode 2. I do not have the patience to continue to watch Sarma blame her bad choices in life on an ex con that she married after knowing about his criminal past. These are red flags Sarma. Any woman with common sense would have not continued to talk to this man. You need to get some therapy and move on with your life. I'm mad I wasted an hour watching this crap.

Janet kept it so real!
30 January 2022
I just finished part 1-2 and I'm enjoying how open Janet is about sharing her life story with us. I'm glad she is being so candid because her story is relatable. I even got emotional as she discussed how her first marriage ended. Moreover, she addresses all the questions I ever had about her in this documentary. You rock Janet!

Bad acting and storyline
9 January 2022
I renewed my Amazon Prime membership for this series only and then I had to make myself finish episode one. The characters are not relatable or believable and I'm not intrigued by the storyline. Also, the constant yelling and bickering in the first episode gave me a headache. I had to take an advil, lay down and then cancel my Prime membership again. All the good series on Amazon Prime have not come back with a new season for quite awhile.

So bad until I fell asleep
16 October 2021
This is so bad until I couldn't wait for it to end. Before watching this movie, ask yourself do you want to spend over an hour watching 2 actors talk and complain to your tv screen the entire time. This is not what I expected.

Excellent Acting & Storyline
4 October 2021
Jessica Chastain and Oscar Isaac really delivered in episode 4! If you feel as though episodes 1-3 dragged, be patient and keep watching because you are going to enjoy episode 4!

"Music Saves You"
10 July 2021
"My Life" is my favorite album by Mary J. Blige so I enjoyed watching her talk about how it reflected her personal life. As she talks about this album, she even says, "music saves you." This is so true. Music is therapy for many people and I don't know what I would do without it.

Hilarious
1 July 2021
I just binged watched 7 episodes and really enjoyed them all! The characters are hilarious! Jonica T. Gibbs character had me laughing out loud! I had never heard of this show because I do not watch BET. I'm more of a Netflix, Prime Video, Showtime, HBO type of gal but I stumbled across this series while looking for a new series to watch on a rainy day.

You have to watch these foolish ex-cult members
28 September 2020
I'm currently on episode six and I cannot believe how loneliness and a lack of self-worth can lead one to such foolishness. I'm so shocked which is why I got hooked watching this docuseries.

At the beginning of the series, Sarah, an ex-cult member, will try to persuade us viewers that she thought it was a self-help group. However, anyone with common sense would know that this is a cult after attending one meeting. There's absolutely nothing normal about Nxivm, the cult group, and Keith, the cult leader. Sarah, Bonnie, Mark, and Anthony, all ex-cult members, need to learn how to deal with life and its challenges like the rest of the world without looking for a quick fix. Actually, these people did not even need to be a part of a "self-help" group. Their problems in the docuseries are what most of us go through in life. Many of us struggle with success in our careers and meeting good people as friends. Oprah even said one time that we are lucky if we have one good friend in the US. This is just life.

I also want to say that these people allowed the cult leader to take advantage of them. The leader did not take their possessions. They willingly gave them private information and pictures. I'm sorry but these people are not victims; they are foolish people. They are unbelievable. You have to watch how foolish these ex-cult members are as they tell their story. And omg you have to watch how the cult leader's lover is admired by the other female members. Who needs a friend that bad? Oh my, if this happened to me, I would be too embarrassed to tell this story to anyone.

Enticing script & stunning cast
7 September 2020
It's been awhile since I've watched a modern drama with an enticing script, stunning cast, and score! This film is written and directed in a way to satisfy the audience rather than bore you. Every scene is engaging and the climax caught me by surprise.

Moreover, the characters in this film are so believable and relatable. Sterling Brown, Kelvin Harrison, Taylor Russell and Lucas Hedges were phenomenal. I hope to watch more films by this director!

Disappointingly Bad
26 August 2020
As a Black American bisexual woman, I was excited to watch this series when I read the synopsis since it seemed relatable as well as enticing. However, I was surprisingly disappointed by the characters from episode one until the finale because I did not like one character. I have never watched a series where there was not one character to like. Moreover, the entire cast are adults making bad choices in life like teenagers and then looking for people to care about them when there are consequences as a result of their actions.

Michaela Coel you should have dug deeper into the development of these characters because the viewer should at least like and care about one character. Your characters are people no one likes or wants to be around. They're also adults acting like a 15-16 year old which is so confusing. Who are these people???

And oh my, the last episode was horrendous. I feel as though Coel was trying too hard to be unique in the direction of the scenes in the last episode until the viewer forgot about the importance of this last episode. We should have cared about Arabella but we do not. There is something wrong with the screenplay, direction, and character development in this entire series.

Garbage - Don't Watch at Home During the Pandemic
3 May 2020
This movie lacked so much and there's no point for me to reiterate what others have already shared. Just read all the low rating reviews of this film. I think the 10 star ratings are from those who don't care about the screenplay when watching films. The script drives the plot and the dialogue in this film is awful. The dramatic aspects of the film are not even engaging. I also think the 10 star ratings are from those who only view films that are hyped via social media. This is NOT an excellent film. It is GARBAGE so don't waste your time watching while being quarantined at home. There are better films to watch at home.

Great Cast
31 January 2020
I usually only watch original Hulu and Netflix series or series via Showtime or HBO. I do not watch regular tv network shows. However, I enjoyed this series as a result of the real and believable chemistry amongst the characters played by Brittany Snow, Megalyn Echikunwoke, and Emily Osment. Usually when I watch a show with an ethnically diverse cast, the chemistry is off and the relationships between the characters do not seem believable. Well, that does not apply to this series. I felt the sisterhood and I believed these women would be close in real life.

Moreover, I could not get enough of watching scenes with Megalyn Echikunwoke and Mo McRae. They both are great actors and obviously good on the optics as well.

Hopefully, this show will come back with season 2 so I can binge watch another season in two days! I'll only watch if Megalyn Echikunwoke is still a part of the cast! She's fun to watch!

The first episode had me at the edge of my seat
25 January 2020
I just watched the first episode and I have so many emotions. These days, I try to watch series that are more on the lighter side as a result of many tragic events happening in this world as well as in my city, Chicago. However, after watching episode one, I now want to continue watching this series. So far, it is not predictable and it is a mystery. The first episode left me asking why, how, and when. Moreover, it left me quite emotional after watching a dramatic scene by one of the supporting actresses. I'll refrain from sharing what happened in the dining room scene so I do not spoil the series for anyone reading this review. Instead, I will share that you will enjoy episode one if you like mysteries! Hopefully, the entire series will be worth watching!

This season just got better
19 January 2020
As a fan of the L Word, I was disappointed while watching Episode 1-6 of this new series; it was not entertaining at all. For instance, only Katherine Moennig (Shane) was actually giving us some real acting. Shane you're killing it! But girlfriend, you weren't alone in episode 7. This episode changed my opinion about the show. It is so good now! I had to watch episode 7 twice because it was really that entertaining!

Nonetheless, I'm still not feeling Leo Sheng's character and Rosanny Zayas's character. I'm sorry but their acting is not believable or entertaining. I want to like Rosanny Zayas because she is beautiful! Unfortunately, I think she will be better on a Lifetime show with Leo Sheng.

Also, why does the writer and director of this show feel as though there is a need to check all boxes of the word "LGBT?" The reason I'm asking is because I don't think this show needs a trans man character. There are many viewers who feel the same way.

I fell asleep while watching
10 January 2020
I love travel shows because I enjoy traveling. However, this show is such a bore. Richard's choices of what to do in 48 hours are boring. He also has a dry sense of humor that is not funny on this show. I'm not laughing but rather saying, "Please stop."

Also, Richard please stop showing us museums. Even Anthony Bordain mentioned many times throughout his travel shows that he does not go to museums while traveling. Why? Because they are a bit boring. So watching someone at a museum is even more boring.

You will enjoy it!
12 October 2019
I had read about this series but I had no interest in watching it. I thought the story was going to be a war story and I'm more into realistic dramas. However, episode one made me wonder what was going to happen next. I watched season one in two days and I enjoyed how each episode was a mystery.

Stephan James and Julia Roberts are such great actors and they really made me shed some tears as the last episode of season one ended. Their acting is so believable which is why I got so emotional. Moreover, Stephan's character was so gentle, loving, but at the same time vulnerable. As a result, you can't help to want to save him so I totally understood the ending.

Don't waste your time watching this flick
12 October 2019
I like Blake Lively but I did not like this film. Moreover, the ending was such a disappointment. This could have been an enticing flick but it took a wrong turn at one point in the film which I won't spoil for those who plan on watching it.

Single 40 and Up Women Will Appreciate This Film
22 September 2019
I almost did not watch this film as a result of all the bad reviews. However, I can relate to this storyline after dating many men with baggage such as insecurities, adult children who are still depending on them financially, and men who do not know how to communicate their feelings. Ladies, if you have experienced dating this type of man, watch this flick. You will appreciate it. Moreover, you will enjoy Julianne Moore's character. She played this woman so well!

Great Screenplay & Music Score
4 February 2019
I read the novel, If Beale Street Could Talk, twice about 20 years ago while in undergraduate school and loved it! Well, after viewing the film, the movie was just as good as the novel! For instance, I felt like I was reading James Baldwin's prose as I was listening to the dialogue in the film. Baldwin was great at writing about the Black experience in the US. More importantly, he writes so eloquently about the conversations some Black people have with other Black folks about their experience of being Black in America so it makes me smile to see these conversations portrayed in film.

Furthermore, the music score is VERY entertaining. I had the song Eden (Harlem) and Agape by Nicholas Britell on replay for hours after seeing this film!
