Starfield (2023 Video Game)
5/10
The good, the bad and the ugly.
4 October 2023
Starfield, the "final frontier" where no developer dared to finish, in other terms, Starfield is a rush job project that needs one year to bake in the oven in which ends up being an average game. I don't know how to tell you if you're going to like it or not, some people likes it and others don't, if you like it, cool. In my case i will tell you my point where ever since i was a kid i followed all sorts of media containing SciFi stuff, and im sometimes biased on it, but i will tell you what is good about the game first in which im around 100 hours.

Graphics and sound are great, not the best but like other space games you will receive your share of eye candy exploring the cosmos. The game at least gives you a lot of stuff to do even so half of the quests can be somewhat repetitive or just average but one thing for sure some side quests are way better than most of the main quest of the campaign. And combat mechanics meaning as in you, you will find it familiar like in other first \ third person shooter from bethesda.

Now to the somewhat bad part, yes... the game is riddled with bugs, as each player have seen its share and most of them have different scenarios in what bugs they have witnessed, more or less.

The Combat AI for the NPC's specially in ground combat are bad and way to easy, along the game you have to set the difficulty up to very hard to even recieve some challenge but at least space is more challenging until you get the hang of it in which space battles are ok, not much to say in that part... but returning to the ground combat aspect, as in my play-through , when i had the means to travel, i was traveling systems and combating NPC's 30 or more levels higher than me and i always managed to get the upper-hand in which the only good part of me being level 15 and the NPC level 50 or beyond was good to farm them for better items and i manage to get better weapons in which made easier to kill hostiles through out the main quest, and up to a point where being a low level i managed to go to the planet where the last mission is at, fun but the best way to get out of it was that, to ramdom stuff and finish the game whenever you wanted.

Now, lets talks about the Scifi elements of the game, yes, there is, cant complain, but is mostly generic, yes there is space exploration to the limits of the game, space battles, and Dragonborn slash Spaceborn powers, yeah, its a reskin of the temples where you get super powers in skyrim. But overall, another game falls in to the generic, uninspired scifi writing that is plaguing many games in which the slap some artifacts and wala, you got a "grand" secrets of the universe. The powers are useless in which I only gathered three of them since they don't really help you and later on I finished the game, and acquiring them just falls flat, you get to this temple, activate the rings by touching to energy particles, repeat until you acquire them and you're spawned back outside, and done.

And now to the ugly, the story but at least the story is average in which the scifi elements do suffer like i described before, but what brings it down is the dialogues, they are bad, they are awful and this is Bethesda once again setting one dude according to the credits to write the entire game but there are moments where it doesn't fit to the current situation, sometimes you are just a child, stupid , flirting/romance is all over the place, and there is this part when you meet for the first time one of the main antagonist, the hunter, and escape to the lodge, you literally become a little kid, when you arrive to the base, your dialogue sounds like you're running to your parents crying because some other kid in the neighborhood hit you.

Bethesda standards are in the ground in this one, to think and it looks like many of the old staff don't work with them any more, in which puts the next elder scrolls at risk to receive mediocre content specially in the story department, we saw quality drop in fallout 4 even so is still famous on things you can do outside of the main content of the game in which they tried to exploit the sand box part and do a bad job with fallout 76 in which they tried to do the cash grab at first with the "sandbox" experience in an empty map until they had to actually gather everyone and finish the game and once more they do that in starfield.

A lot of mixed things for the show in which it isnt good nor bad, just plain average.
24 September 2023
Taking it to the past, we meet Winston back when he was younger and how he has to deal with the underworld in the seventies while trying to save his brother and how guessing how it will be, how he will climb to the top where he is at now as the manager of the continental. We do get shown the world of john wick but not improving on what the movies shows us. Ive seen all four of the movies, and to compare to them, even the movies are great on their own even with its many flaws, extreme simple plots and giving us a small dip in to the lore of the underworld of how the world functions in which we have one side that is the normal living day we all live and outside of the normal we got the underworld in which we have this underworld enterprise of mafia that fallows a code and is done up front, as to how half of the underworld is involved and even the authorities knows about it and they know where and where they can intervene and they shouldn't... like in example when the cop visits Wick due to a noise complaint in the first movie, the cops knew who he was and they knew that he was part of that world in which the cop didn't arrest him nor question him even looking at the dead body in the background and asks, are you back and wick was vague about it not knowing if he was back or it was just a bump in the road, the whole collection movies is an exagerated representation of a criminal fantasy world where things are presented in an exaggerated way with fines, rules, etiquette and one drink could cost you 500 to 1000 and probably 2000 dollars if the coins used were gold and if they were up to one ounce in weight comparing it to today's price of gold. Entertaining but the show doesn't improve it, Here is why...

Lets start with the good stuff, yes, there is plenty of good action, but half of it shows some of the cast were rushed through rehearsals even you could excuse some of them on its each characters style on how they handle a gun but it shows they didnt know how to handle a gun or handle themselves even moments the characters looked like goofs or funny looking handling one. The world is presented nicely and we get to see some of the inner working of how the world works.

The story is a mixed bag of things, as it showed we got four writers in the show that doesnt have a history of projects that show the experience on portraying a good story for the show and no involvement on the other works of the franchise in which reflects why it doesn't improve the movies. All random stuff happening, they didnt knew where to go with the story even we know where it is going, is like Star Wars Rogue One, we know where it ends and is the destruction of the death star, there are moments that didnt give in on the risk or living in that world or moments of putting the characters on the edge or the risk for their lives, half of the dialogue were just fillers. The best characters, even they were vague in the show were characters shown only for minutes, like in example would be nice to see Mel Gibson to have more time and see his character become this monster that had his world under his thumb and we have seen him in other movies that he can show his bad side, even the twins were more interesting even so they looked awkwardly weird and never talked. As to Winston, it was neat to see him but having more time in the show even comparing to others who had less time, they never took advantage of their characters and never brought more of them and instead we get the fillers that i described of stupid dialogues.

The first episode time running about one hour and twenty minutes, the show fails to present more of the world, more of the characters, also sets other characters that are somewhat not needed and just there to prove a point of the show, they are presented somewhat useless in the sense of an actual function to grow the story and not because they are incompetent, for example we have the female cop in which she is looking in to the world and investigating different sets of incidents in which the underworld slash intercontinental slash the high chair slash the rest... are involved , they just place her there, she investigates, she has a fit of her awful boss and when she got the chance of entering the famous intercontinental building, she gets a glimpse of what and how it is, a place not for her, sees most of the people armed and the economy is different and the end. Also the show adds other stupid fillers in which up to this date seeing for the last three decades and i ask myself as of why my generation, the past and the next generation of people involved in writing have to add things that are sexual, i mean its nice to see some skin and eye candy from time to time for just a few minutes but most of the time its a filler of scenes that doesnt add anything to the story and this is usually a crutch used when you know part of your show isnt that good in which you push to attract more viewers hoping for ratings in another way, and knowing that the movies didn't depend on this why add it.

We will see where it goes, its first episode doesn't impress nor improve on what we already got, is good and bad making it just a plain average show. If you enjoy it, good.

Dave Chappelle: The Closer (2021 TV Special)
8/10
Comedies in to stories.
14 October 2021
If you've been around watching standup comedies from many, you can fallow a path that their acts becomes stories of their lives. Another famous example is and may he rest in peace is Robin Williams as his shows he told his life with a comedic twist, drug problems and health problems in his past, social stuff, his family, world events. Same as any comedian, like here with Dave. He started to tell a few stories, things he have seen during the last years until he lands on the story about the LGBTQ... comunity. As he jokes about everybody but groups hate that stuff but like i have witnessed, like he did and many people, ... groups arent there for your well being, they care for the flash and show but you can go F your self. Like the story of a person that he met that was a comedian and got to open for one of his shows, he joked that that person bombed the opening act but when the comedian was not trying and more relaxed and when someone at the crowd tried to pull some sort of insult the comedian came back with a joke that threw the roof of the place but the tragedy of that person is she killed herself. Because she just ahad another opinion and the world, specially those who claim to be the same as her turned their backs at her and betrayed her.

Heres a tip for those people that need something in their lives, trans, gays, lesbians, men, women, anyone.... at the end of the road you're still human beings, you dont need a group to represent you because they have done nothing for you, you dont need no one to accept who you are because the only person that accepts you is yourself first and next are real friends that dont ask anything in return for you to be someone, just be yourself, also friends respect other people opinions and the only thing good could happen is a constructive discussion of the situation because what people did in social media to her, they beat and punch down the living hell out of her in a non-literal sense and made a world that she felt she wasn't accepted..

Final Fantasy VII Remake (2020 Video Game)
7/10
Enrich the past with a bigger story, great game with flaws, plus getting the the adjustment bureau agents mess you up.
19 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Where do I start, this game, scoring it a 7/our of 10, in general is ok, but what carries the game is the in story telling, story and events that happens even with various flaws that for me were annoying. Played 45 hours in normal difficulty, used one third of my stuff to the end.

WARNING SPOILERS

I loved both games, the original and this one, Final Fantasy 7 remake starts straight out expanding and detailing the story of the original FF7, each sector have its details giving you side-quest by making you spending more time in each sector. At first the story borderlines square enix bad habit of the games of Kingdom Hearts and FF13> specially part 2 in FF13, and 3 of Kingdom Hearts not because of story information or lore, is because bad story telling, to the point in those games they like to make a mess, make a giant monotonous mess and never condenses the story so that it has a better story telling. Is like someone not edited a 1000 page story book. But it didnt went that far, the storie even longer creates cool scenes, gives more details on our guys, wedge, biggs, and specially Jesse plus our regular cool characters Barret, Aerith and Tifa in which at their own mechanics they to have cool combos and weapon mechanics.. But here is the issue that im seeing and depending on how they write it, apart from the new characters that are introduced, they introduced this type of spirits/ghosts called whispers, new, not much details with the exception they intervene as if the future is already written, like the if they make something connecting to the ancients/cetra but they are written as spirits that makes sure the future stays as it should, like the movie the adjustment bureau with Matt Damon if you seen it, meaning more extra leg work but giving an excuse to write whatever is comming in the next part of the game or the future of the game, but who knows what conspiracy theory might come true. Spoiler alert, it ends at Midgar after the bike scene of the original FF7 original as that is just one third of disk one when you get to meet the world before hitting the chocobo ranch. Another spoiler with a theory, for the Original FF7 end of disk one, probably the second part of Remake might end up killing a certain girl that you meet in the end of FF7-2 might mix it up with the whispers? Pushing you to do something unless the whispers are the spirits that make you do stuff, like scenes in the original that cloud starts doing stuff without the control of the player. Many theories how this might go.... Either way, the story almost goes with the same flow with FF7 original but adding more in between as in the original those who get killed don't survive but that s the mystery, as here some survive but the whispers intervene as if those spirits seen how the original ends. And the thing is Biggs survive and Wedge survive, Jesse supposedly die in front of us, but those moment are also guided by the whispers, as later on the spirits even they dont show it, apparently Wedge is pushed out through the windows of the Shinra Building and killed, if the whispers make him live so he served a purpose and then we are done with you, kill. YOu end the game and give you the option of hard mode with all that you got through your first run.

But the story caries the game greatly, same with most of the soundtrack, some even similar to the music i hear like, Immediate Music, two steps from hell, positron, Ivan Torrent, etc etc. As to some, well, not so so...

Battle system and mechanics, i dont have a comparison, i haven't played Final Fantasy 15 but some aspects are just plain annoying, specially the camera in some instances, sometimes at random it unlocks, when it locks and depending on the level or scene, it hits the 3D model box environment and doesn't move or sends some enemy too close to one side of the screen or when there's a mob attacking you and a some rare instance the locked enemy is not in the screen and i have to sometimes unlock and re-lock to see if the camera readjusted as mostly do, the camera doesn't adjust to be able to see further away and the options, tried them all, the only difference is a few 3 feet of distance.

The battle system was meh, also sometimes annoying too, as all statues that served as stop, time, or something that prevents you of moving did have status markers in the User interface, but other enemy attacks didn't so various monsters specially if they were in a group shocked you in a way without leaving a status marker, and sometimes it took turns, your controlled character and it wouldnt move for a minute or two, of course i could switch in to another character but another thing was the AI was sometimes incompetent making battles like 3vs enemy to 1 vs. enemy, they just stood there sometimes delaying their attack for almost two minutes in one where you fight the failed experiments in the basement where tiffa had a mob of 3 hitting her and she was looking at something else, or in another place Barret started to spin uncontrollably doing nothing. Still manageable. And by switching character in battle sometimes you could exploit it if you had the time, as it seems all enemies specially bosses are programmed to have a priority system? to attack controlled characters and not your companions in most cases, when you switched in time and mostly in half life is that you do it to avoid damage, the enemy switched to attack your switched character giving you time to heal the last character you used.

Now as to battles in general, mostly worth it, and some, way too long and annoying that you just was to beat it and continue with the story. Some are worth it because it flows, even in moment if you really take a beating and get handed and that victory is really worth it in which they should concentrate more in future games.

Minigames are average, some are plain annoying with with some level design that become another long minigame of moving that you sometimes sense the game trying to stretch the game even more and pushes you to stay on that level longer even when you see visually and some cases that both Tifa and Cloud are athletic plus they jump very high capable of skipping some section of the pathways but no, the game pushes you to go to that patch so you hit more time doing nothing, instead of adding to the levels more things to do that are interesting or more to the story. But once again when you hit more to the story and things to do in the story after bad moments, it carries you again in which

Visuals - 10 Sound/Music - 9 Mechanics - 6 Replay - Average Story - 9 Gameplay in general - 7

A game worth it, some might not like it and some , YES.

The Shield (2002–2008)
8/10
Neat show with various flaws.
20 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Even i got it to an eight, i might given it a 6 as in above average show. I just was entertained. The show sets like in today's world, as we cannot deny that some people today are corrupt and some are shady, but here they crank it to almost 100% corrupt, each protagonist have its own dirty little secret to the point of killing their own cops, each one of them is given a role of problems, sociopath, corrupt, dirty, lazy, stubborn in a bad way, not beign true to one self, empty, and many many more. But follows the dirtiest player alive (not rick flair), a corrupt corrupt cop that is way over his hard head to the point of obsession with everything, even not seeing his own faults, his own problems, his own errors in parenthood and all of it comes back to his obsession of power and freedom. And the whole series is like an onion, little by little you peal it until you end up with nothing, well almost nothing if you get to season seven in which in reality is another fantasy unless something in real life ends up someone winning out of it but thats way way far of an idea, but wont deny it. But in the end, he is the same vick, the same hard headed cop that just want to act the hero, repeat his own denials, and many other problems and not facing his mistakes.

The characters were interesting for me, fun in the sense of playing a game. Also some other higher profile actors were in the series probably to push ratings up again? Also we got Saw Gerrera before he turned in to a insane radical rebel shouting "Lies, Deceptions." and inhaling the air juice because he couldn't capture vick's in his lies and deceptions. It fits the timeline with the shield and star wars: rogue one.

As why if i would give it a six out of ten, the script could have been polished a little bit more but also in the same time it fits in with the idea of this world. Maybe is in purpose but in some episodes could have done a little bit better, but cant complain, at least i was entertained.

Star Trek: Picard: Maps and Legends (2020)
Season 1, Episode 2
8/10
Interesting continuation with some hits and misses.
30 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
As episode one went down the route of explaining some details through out the time of the romulan super nova and giving various easter eggs, this episode add more details to it, of course, some of the dialogue could have been condensed and taken less time from the episode, also some scenes were not necesary, by her, the android twin just smiling at the romulan at the end if episode one it was clear that she was banging the romulan, the series up to now needs some of the pacing of the Mandalorian. I like the episode since it takes another route to new stuff, new events, new characters, ... here some spoilers... after the romulan star system was destroyed their homeworld, the federation, a fleet lead by Picard, he tried to help them by going his own principles and what the federation should stant for... something we loved in TNG from him... but once again starfleet started to split in half on how those resources were managed and dealt with species that weren't so kind in the past to the federation , and when someone hijacked the sysntetics that have parts from Data and designs of Nooniang, they were programmed to destroy utopia planitia hindering part of starfleet's production of new ships, this might be the Romulans doing or someone new, Why romulans? Romulans were always in a cold war with the Federation after a few wars against the humans, even after the Dominion things were still cold, same thing in the federation, some never had the same ideals and agendas, romulans were also split on the idea of warming up with the humans after various times the humans... specially Picard helped them in various internal conflicts and events, like in the movies and the books. The events on mars triggered the higher ups to cut ties and anything related to helping the Romulans was out... giving an excuse and say byebye, some were furious and others were at least grateful that they were helped like for example the TalShiar that are living on Picard's vineyard in which they help him in this episode to figure out some of the investigation Picard is doing behind Starfleet's back in which reveals everything was swept and reveals an older order/kabal similar to the Talshiar called "YakVash" or whatever the name is, keeper of secrets of the dead.

Picard was obviously forced in to retirement/pushed away back then and you could see it when he talked with the Admiral, she had a strong position on another agenda when Picard was still in command, he tried to explain the situation but denied his request of a small recon vessel and also slammed him with another excuse because of his condition, mentioned in TNG when Q was sending him to solve the anomaly and in the future self he learned of his condition, in which he gives a slight reminder to the doctor that served with Picard before the Enterprise D and talks of ...he was reminded to him that he knew this condition of his brain was going to catch up with him in the future.

As for the borg cube, more scenes are shown in this episode, it seems the romulans are in complete charge of the dissection of the borg cube, for tech and research and who knows what else, and probable theory is they want the tech to once again regain their superiority they had before. The drones are dismantled, probably making them part of the workforce but the series aren't yet going in to details about the complete plan and story of it as it might fall with 7of9 helping picard to figure it further and explaining it, also other scenes that show a varied compliment workforce under the romulans control, humans, other romulans, other species that i dint remember the names, there's at least 8 different species i could see. But no one else know about this place with the exception of the romulan spy that works under the vulcan commodore in star fleet, as this could explain who was pulling the strings for the romulan insurgents from episode one and the clean up of evidence and giving red flags when the Admiral mentioned the YakVash to her, but here clearly something dark is wandering under starfleet in which history repeats itself as it has in other series of star trek.

Simple, so much potential wasted.
14 December 2019
I dont mind this type of idea of vampires, werewolf or wolf, but the movies in general is potentially wasted on bad story line and some acting because the scripts is horrible, even the decisions that the characters make and the things they do you question, who in earth would do such a thing as if this is some sort of weird freaky fantasy that someone wants to experience and goes in to the category of "oatmeal on the pants" character, ....hey there is even a zombie movie that was released in between this movies that was also a some sort of love story in some way, cant remember the name but it does have a better plot and script line, not perfect but what helped that movie is that it didn't took it seriously, there were some humor in it. Also the movies needed a better director, scripts writer and book author. The cast. i would let them go for another round to remake the whole series since there were various actors that i have seen before and they do good acting and better if they have better direction, even the guy from Good Omens, he is fun to watch.

The good out of this move? Made millions and brought tourism to a small town in rural America.

The bad.... We got the British and United States war to deal with, while the British giggle and drink tea by throwing us Harry Potter books and movies.... The Americans challenged them and counterattacked, raised the stakes by throwing the whiny girl and glowing vampires books and movies. Sad moments and so many lives lost.

By the way, the Rifftrax remastered version: 10/10

The Mandalorian: Chapter 6: The Prisoner (2019)
Season 1, Episode 6
8/10
Another sidequest/fille, but some with fun.
14 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This is another filler/side-quest episode that doesn't align itself from the main plot but it throws jabs at other Star Wars movies making fun of them, the episode just follows Mando through some interesting points of his travels with the baby around the galaxy. Now, I liked it and loved it, I had fun with it, seeing some new stuff, seeing xwings even for a tiny bit and I easily set aside the flaws of deviation and some obvious plot route that the episode takes, even i was thinking this could go another way that would connect to the next episode involving the baby. The episode starts with Mando getting called for a job, teaming up with some scummy mercs, they are hired to do a prison break on a Republic Prison Ship for one target. As they go, infiltrate the ship, the story slowly develops to the point that the baby would be in obviously in danger when the pilot robot finds out about the baby and the guild history, the mercs also try to betray Mando but from there, things go south , One side, mando escapes and messes with them by taking care of one by one while baby yoda have to deal with the droid. Because death is to easy, as of why you serve them alive, then end sets it up for a possible return of one of them.
