About the Panel:
Between 1982 and 1984, Jean-Michel enjoyed frequent trips to Los Angeles, staying for months at a time. He loved working and living in LA, made many friends, and appreciated the respite from New York and opportunity to focus on his art. During those years, he worked and lived with Larry Gagosian for a time and had two solo exhibitions at Gagosian gallery. He subsequently maintained a studio space in Venice that Fred Hoffman found for him, and created a suite of prints with Hoffman. Tamra Davis was a film student at Los Angeles City College and a gallery assistant who filmed interviews with Jean-Michel during this time that became her acclaimed documentary The Radiant Child. She also drove him around LA since he never learned to drive.
