"You're a funny little biscuit." Vertigo Releasing has debuted the full official UK trailer for Hoard, an indie film creation from newcomer writer / director Luna Carmoon, making her feature directorial debut. This premiered in the Critics Week sidebar at the 2023 Venice Film Festival last year, with stops at the Athens and London Film Festivals. Not to be confused with the 2018 horror movie The Hoard, or any other horror films. In a fearlessly strange and intense psychological drama a troubled teenager forms an obsessive bond with a mysterious young man at her foster home. Starring Saura Lightfoot Leon as Maria, with Hayley Squires, Joseph Quinn, Lily-Beau Leach, and Samantha Spiro. It's hard to describe this very strange film, which is exceptionally odd and icky at times. Most reviews at festivals last year were positive, saying: "this is unfiltered filmmaking that indulges every storytelling whim, however uncomfortable it might turn out to be.

Stars: Saura Lightfoot Leon, Lily-Beau Leach, Hayley Squires, Samantha Spiro, Joseph Quinn | Written and Directed by Luna Carmoon
In 1980s England, Maria (Lily-Beau Leach) lives with her mother Cynthia (Hayley Squires), who is an obsessive hoarder. Struggling at school, Maria seeks solace in the unique yet dysfunctional lifestyle that the pair share together. In the 1990s, 18-year-old Maria (Saura Lightfoot Leon) struggles to come to terms with her past when she meets Michael (Joseph Quinn).
Arguably, one of the best sub-genres in film history is the British working-class flick. Never shying away from what needs to be said, these movies get gritty with the facets of life that most of us — including the wider media — would rather turn a blind eye to. Quiet and unassuming, the best of the bunch soar into view to command a voice that becomes timeless, but unfortunately, Luna Carmoon’s debut Hoard is not a...

Not sleeping in the is a big problem for many people but if they had a best friend who is also up with them, could it be really fun. The new Apple TV+ series Still Up answers that question through a sweet story about two friends Lisa and Danny suffering from insomnia, who are connected mostly through video calls.
Created by Steve Burge and Natalie Walter, Still Up has a small cast and it does a good job of focusing on the important storylines through them while also establishing their eccentricities and wants in the story seamlessly. We never feel that any of the characters in the series are out of place or forced in the story.

Netflix has debuted the trailer for the fourth and final season of its hit coming-of-age series “Sex Education,” complete with the tagline, “Get your tissues ready, let’s finish together.”
The British comedy continues to follow the journey of teen sex therapist Otis Millburn (Asa Butterfield) and his friends as they attend a new school with an entirely different culture than they’re accustomed to, while Otis’s love interest Maeve (Emma Mackey) has moved to the United States for college. The eight-episode final season will release on Netflix on Sept. 21, with a supersized, 83-minute series finale.
The first scene of the trailer shows Otis and Maeve adjusting to the distance between them. When Maeve sends Otis a nude photo, Otis is unsure about sending one in return. It’s coming. It’s coming. It’s about to climax. The fourth and final season of the hit Netflix raunchy comedy Sex Education is set to premiere later this month. And as part of the foreplay, Netflix has released a new trailer for the British show that stars Asa Butterfield, Emma Mackey and Gillian Anderson. Set to the tune of Meatloaf’s popular (and meme-able) hit “I Would Do Anything For Love,” the season 4 trailer is light on plot elements and heavy on emotion. The series celebrates its curtain call by cheekily telling fans to “break out the tissues.”
The trailer has been released by Netflix and the official season 4 synopsis reads,
Following the closure of Moordale Secondary, Otis and Eric now face a new frontier – their first day at Cavendish Sixth Form College. Otis is nervous about setting up his new clinic, whilst Eric is praying they won’t be losers again.

Netflix wants fans of its British teen comedy Sex Education to “finish together” in the trailer for the show’s final season.
The two-and-a-half minute first look at the fourth season teases a busy farewell to the series, which helped catapult or bolster the careers of current and former stars, including Emma Mackey, Ncuti Gatwa, Simone Ashley and Asa Butterfield. Set to the Meat Loaf classic “I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That),” the trailer sees Butterfield’s Otis and Mackey’s Maeve grappling with the intricacies — including well-shot nudes — of a long distance relationship as she attends the prestigious U.S. school, Wallace University.
Gatwa’s Eric can also be seen realizing his anxieties over how he and Otis not being losers again may be overblown as he further embraces himself, and encourages other Moordale Secondary classmates to as well. And at home, Gillian Anderson...

Saying goodbye to Sex Education will not be easy.
Many TV shows stay on the air long past their expiration date, but Sex Education Season 4 looks to be the perfect place to end the Netflix comedy.
In the official trailer for the final season, we see storylines come to dramatic conclusions as everyone reacts differently to the events of the prior season.

"Nicky - you must know we cannot save them all. You have to forgive yourself that..." Warner Bros UK has unveiled an official trailer for One Life, based on the true story of a man from the UK. It's premiering this weekend at the 2023 Toronto Film Festival, hence the trailer arriving now, and it'll also show at the London Film Festival next month. One Life stars Anthony Hopkins, based on the incredible true story of Sir Nicholas Winton. Many may recall hearing this story or seeing the real video - a man who rescued hundreds of children from the Nazis during WWII is reunited with many of these survivors, now grown into adults, in a surprise appearance on a TV show in 1998. The film tells his story at both times - showing what he did during WWII and how he helped make a huge difference, and decades later when he is an old man,...

In 1996, the British band Suede – or The London Suede as they’re known in the United States, thanks to a trademark lawsuit – released their third album, “Coming Up”, which opened with the song “Trash”. A catchy, breezy anthem for the downtrodden trying to find love and excitement in monotonous or outright dirty environments, “Trash” posits the potential for rebellion and individuality in stale English suburbia, where bonds of solidarity can form among people drawn to each other due to shared outsider status: “But we’re trash, you and me/ We’re the litter on the breeze/ We’re the lovers on the street.”
With its motif concerning garbage on the street, “Trash” could have been an all-too obvious needle drop in “Hoard”, a (mostly) mid-90s period piece set in the exact sort of humdrum British milieu evoked by Suede, with literal refuse playing a major part in the strange...

Lock the door, turn the volume up on Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get It On,” and lose yourself in the moment because new Sex Education character posters have arrived to lend you a hand and help you relax the old-fashioned way. The fourth and final season of the coming-of-age comedy series hits Netflix on September 21, bringing new characters, embarrassing moments, and closure to extended storylines.
Today’s Sex Education character posters feature primary cast members Asa Butterfield (Otis Milburn), Emma Mackey (Maeve Wiley), Ncuti Gatwa (Eric Effiong), and Gillian Anderson (Jean Milburn) amid ecstasy, or in Maeve’s case, ponderous unsatisfaction? Sex Education always brings plenty of laughs. However, the series also tugs at the heartstrings as characters grow, experience failure, and explore the spectrum of life’s possibilities and preferences in and out of the bedroom.
Here is the official synopsis for Sex Education Season 4:

"I don't think you know what it's like for your partner to come alive as soon as you go to bed." Apple has unveiled an official trailer for a streaming series called Still Up, a British comedy featuring episodes directed by newcomer John Addis. This seems like a big pitch original idea, that will either become a big hit or being forgotten quickly. Bonded by insomnia, best friends Lisa (an impulsive & free-spirited aspiring illustrator) and Danny (a socially anxious yet gifted journalist) stay connected to each other late into the night and find their way through a world of wonderfully weird surprises as their relationship deepens. There are no secrets, except their feelings for each other, and while the world sleeps they spend their long nights talking despite never meeting. Antonia Thomas & Craig Roberts star as Lisa & Danny, with Blake Harrison, Lois Chimimba, Luke Fetherston, & Samantha Spiro. As a fellow insomniac,...

A first clip has been unveiled from Luna Carmoon’s feature debut “Hoard,” which will premiere at the Venice Film Festival.
In the film, set in 1984 London, 7-year-old Maria and her mother live in their own loving world built on sorting through bins and collecting shiny rubbish. One night, their world falls apart, and the film joins Maria a decade later, living with her foster mother. An older stranger, Michael, then enters their home, opening the door to past trauma, magic and madness.
“‘Hoard’ came from a place of venom; spite really is the great transformer. It was a story I was writing for just me, the world of ‘Hoard’ and its characters saved me truly,” Carmoon told Variety. “I never intended it to be seen … I was going to leave it at the bottom of my bed wrapped in string for the Newshopper and family to find to their shock and horror,...

Netflix’s first teaser trailer for the upcoming fourth season of Sex Education was accompanied by bad news for the show’s fans. Season four will be the show’s final season.

It’s a real study that Gareth cites in his call to Dermot O’Leary’s radio show. Published in the British Medical Journal in 1993, Scanlon, Luben, Scanlon and Singleton asked the question “Is Friday the 13th bad for your health?” Yes, was their conclusion, due to an increased risk of hospital admission as a result of transport accidents. “Staying at home is recommended.”
Trust the writers of Inside No. 9 – a show where dark fates lurk around every corner – to devise a scheme whereby a character takes the precautionary measure of staying at home on Friday the 13th, only for their wife to be killed in a transport accident right outside their front door on Saturday the 14th. Against gods with this capricious and cruel a sense of humour, nobody can win.

School is out for Emma Mackey now that the actress is leaving Netflix’s Sex Education after four seasons. Mackey confirmed her exit from the coming-of-age comedy series while attending the BAFTA Awards, where she won the Rising Star award for her outstanding performance in the laugh-out-loud drama.
“Season 5? I’ve just finished the fourth one last week!” Mackey told RadioTimes. “No, I don’t think I’ll be in season 5. I’ve said goodbye to Maeve.”
Previously, Mackey said she’d have a minor role in Sex Education season 4, with Maeve traveling to America to live her dream at the prestigious Wallace University, where she’ll be taught by cult author Thomas Molloy (Dan Levy).
“It feels very familiar! And it’s a bit more sporadic because we have more characters. So there’s… I’m not in it as consistently,” Mackey said before filming Season 4. “But we’re...
