Let’s just say that mama Beyoncé is allowing her daughter to take on more jobs and showcase her talents. What, if that astounding tour showed us anything, it’s that Blue Ivy is ready to shine in her own right.
The story may be Mufasa’s childhood, but Simba gets to make an appearance as well.
Blue Ivy – Makes Big Comeback After Sister Rumi Overtakes Her As Youngest Person To Chart On Billboard
Blue Ivy has been making her mark on both the music and fashion world, and now she’s got her sight set on breaking into the movie industry.
This won’t be Blue Ivy’s first narration work though, as the youngster’s talent was tapped to narrate the audiobook version of New York Times bestseller “Hair Love” by Matthew A. Cherry.

You have to admit, even the promise of it is fascinating: what does a photoreal-animated Lion King film look like when it comes from Barry Jenkins – the director of Moonlight, and If Beale Street Could Talk, and The Underground Railroad? We’re about to find out, because Jenkins is directing Mufasa: The Lion King, the follow-up to Jon Favreau’s 2019 The Lion King remake – ostensibly a prequel about the rise of Simba’s legendary dad, but also weaving in sequel threads following Simba and Nala’s burgeoning family. And it’s not that Jenkins is being parachuted in – he’s working with his regular cinematographer James Laxton, and editor Joi McMillon, bringing his impeccable craft to an entirely different type of filmmaking, with the biggest tools blockbusterdom can bring. Check out the trailer here:

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a movie that makes more than $1.6 billion at the box office is probably going to get another franchise entry greenlit very, very quickly. Such is the case with the 2019 "live-action" remake of "The Lion King," which didn't leave much of a pop culture imprint, but certainly had an impact on Disney's quarterly earnings report. Thus, this year will see the release of the prequel movie "Mufasa: The Lion King," which just dropped its first trailer during "Good Morning America."
As the title suggests, "Mufasa" is the story of Simba's father becoming king of the lions, despite being born "without a drop of nobility in his blood." The film was directed by Barry Jenkins, who joked at CinemaCon that this "eight-quadrant tentpole" is quite different from the types of films he's known for, but said that its story was "very personal" to him. Billy Eichner...

Few movies embody the pre-pandemic moviegoing days quite like "The Lion King," an expensive, fully CGI remake of a hand-drawn animation classic, which made over $1.5 billion in 2019 yet rarely seems to come up in pop culture conversations since its release. Whether you loved, hated, or forgot about the box office behemoth, we think its sequel, "Mufasa: The Lion King," is still worth considering. That's because the follow-up film is directed by Barry Jenkins, the wildly talented filmmaker behind Best Picture winner "Moonlight" and the recent Criterion Collection addition "The Underground Railroad," among other masterpieces.

Disney is welcoming the king of the Pride Lands back to Las Vegas. The studio unveiled a stirring, all-new trailer of “Mufasa: The Lion King” on Thursday at CinemaCon, the annual convention for movie theater owners.
“Mufasa: The Lion King” is expected to focus on the early years of the eventual ruler of the animals, as well as his menacing younger brother Scar. The film will feature the voices of Aaron Pierre and Kelvin Harrison Jr. as the younger version of Mufasa (voiced by James Earl Jones in the 1994 film and 2019 remake) and Scar (voiced by Jeremy Irons in the 1994 version and Chiwetel Ejiofor in the 2019 remake).

African streamer Showmax has dated and unveiled a first trailer for “Twende,” its first original 2D animated series.
“Twende” follows a pangolin of the same name, the slowest moving animal in the savannah. The pilot screened in competition at Annecy in 2021. MultiChoice Studios is handling international sales and will present “Twende” at Mipcom.
“Twende’s belief that, ‘life is about the journey, not the destination’ is constantly at odds with his job as a boda boda (motorbike taxi) driver in the bustling, fictional East African city of Milima,” said South African showrunner Greig Cameron, who also wrote and directed “Seal Team,” which was in the Netflix global Top 10 film list in January last year, as well as hit soccer animated series, “Supa Strikas.”
Twende is voiced by Junior Nyong’o (“The Legend of Lwanda Magere”), while June Gachui (“Crime and Justice”) plays his best friend and navigator, Nuru – a smart bird...

The Killing Of Two Lovers,10.55pm, Film4, Monday, June 19
This mature debut from Robert Machoian, who has made short films for years, offers an intimate character study that grips as it goes. David (Clayne Crawford) is a man on the verge as he and his wife Nikki (Sepideh Moaffi) "take a break" from their relationship. Pressures - which are reflected in the groans and creaks from Peter Albrechtsen's ominous and unsettling sound design - that are magnified by the small town where they live and Derek (Chris Coy), who is vying for Nikki's affections. Crawford told us: "What the joy was, is, I saw the opportunities to play so many different sides of a human being, which you rarely get in a film." Machoian holds the mood carefully, inflecting with dark comedy while never losing the sense of danger associated with David's potential breakdown.

“The Lion King,” a Disney Media Franchise, commemorated its 26th anniversary this past June. It is a genuine archetypal that can captivate audiences of all ages. The first Lion King film in the series was produced in 1994.
According to Environment Weekly, there were more than 600 animators involved in the production of “The Lion King” including animators, technicians, and other crucial figures. In fact, every moment was arduously explored, reorganized, and refined again which cost a lot of money, time, and a lot of headaches. And here’s the result – the great movie “The Lion King.”
The key to its success comes from its skilfully constructed characters who frequently walk and act like their real-life equivalents. The real-life lions were brought to the studio for the animators to study.
Beyond expectations, “The Lion King” movie proved immensely profitable and is the best-selling VHS of all time. The Lion Guard is an...

Indonesia’s 2021 Oscar pick, “Yuni,” played as the Centerpiece Screening at the 45th Asian American International Film Festival this year. Kamila Andini’s latest also reaped its own fair share of awards back during its competitive circuit run. With 5 wins and 20 nominations, Andini – and newcomer actress Arawinda Kirana – gathered acclaim from Toronto all the way back to their home country. It’s little wonder why: the film illustrates a compelling portrayal of a high school girl harshly greeted by the world of adulthood.
“Yuni“ is screening at Five Flavours Asian Film Festival
Here, Andini weaves together a coming-of-age story of a bright high school student, Yuni (played by Kirana). Like most girls her age, Yuni is relatively clueless about the realities of womanhood. She does know two things, however: she wants to pursue a university scholarship, and she loves the color purple. In order to execute the former,...
