The live-action TV series based on the Goosebumps books written by R.L. Stine that was released through the Disney+ and Hulu streaming services last October (read our review Here) drew inspiration from five of Stine’s Goosebumps stories. More Stine stories will be brought to the screen in Goosebumps season 2 – but the show is taking the anthology route, so we can expect a second season that has “an entirely new cast and setting based on Stine’s iconic Scholastic book series,” and won’t pick up on the season 1 cliffhanger that involved a character appearing to be possessed. That’s where author Kate Howard steps in, as she has been hired to write a Goosebumps season 1 novelization that will not only cover the story told in the show’s episodes but also include “additional scenes and information not seen on the show, including resolving the show’s cliffhanger ending!”

The Disney+ series “Goosebumps” is coming back for a brand new second season that will feature a new cast, new setting, and new story, which means we won’t be revisiting the characters and/or storylines introduced in the show’s first season. Not on screen, at least.
Bloody Disgusting has learned that Scholastic Inc. will release Goosebumps: The Haunting Returns on October 1, a young adult novelization of the Disney+ series’ first season.
Scholastic previews, “Discover what happens to Isaiah, Margot, Nathan, and the rest of the folks in Port Lawrence in this official Goosebumps novel based on the hit Disney Plus series!
“Thirty years ago, Harold Biddle died in a tragic accident — but there’s more to the story. Now, the teenage kids of Harold’s classmates are determined to find out what happened to him all those years ago…as long as Harold’s spirit doesn’t exact his revenge first!

Prince Harry’s bachelor party wasn’t without fun and…some fear. In Spare, the Duke of Sussex recalled how he’d been afraid of what his brother, Prince William, might do. Not, perhaps, over imbibe. (One of the Prince of Wales’s nicknames is One Pint Willy.) Rather, change Harry’s appearance ahead of his 2018 royal wedding to Meghan Markle by shaving off his beard.
Harry worried William would shave off his beard at his 2018 bachelor party
In addition to the many bombshells in Spare, Harry also gave an inside look at his and the Duchess of Sussex’s royal wedding. On May 19, 2018, the two wed at St. George’s Chapel inside the walls of Windsor Castle.
As Harry revealed, the tension went well beyond the bridesmaids’ dresses, Meghan’s tiara, and her father’s absence from the ceremony. Somehow, his beard became embroiled in the wedding drama.

Fallout is undeniably a post-apocalyptic franchise with a heavy lean towards science fiction. However, the best description for this tough old world is the ‘Weird West:’ a literary goulash of sole survivors, urban legends, horror, science fiction, and the outright supernatural. It’s the latter element that’s most controversial to fans who may prefer the grimdark future trappings of a Brotherhood of Steel working on independently establishing their Warhammer future. Yet, those supernatural qualities are persistent throughout the series in fascinating ways.
The original Interplay Fallout entries kept most of their weirdest oddities non-canonical by making them rare, luck-based encounters. Things like King Arthur by way of Monty Python and a British blue telephone box aren’t actually part of the Fallout world. A crashed alien ship with a blaster and a picture of Elvis was just a cute joke… until Bethesda made the Zetans canon years later. But even in the original Fallout,...

In case you’ve forgotten (I certainly did), Disney has been developing a Space Mountain movie based on the popular theme park attraction. It’s been a while since we last heard about the project, but THR reports that the studio has tapped Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec to pen the script.
Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec are best known for writing Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but from what I understand, the Space Mountain ride doesn’t really have any memorable scenes or characters like those found in Pirates of the Caribbean, so the project could really go in any direction.

The Space Mountain movie was first announced close to four years ago, with Joby Harold (Obi-Wan Kenobi) set to write and produce.

Disney is once again trying to make a "Space Mountain" movie happen. This is one of the company's most cherished theme park rides as a staple of both Disneyland and Disney World for decades. Now, a pair of new writers have been brought on board to try and crack the code with this long-gestating adaptation. Whether or not they will be the ones to get it across the finish line is another question entirely.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec have been tapped to write the latest iteration of "Space Mountain" for Disney. Plot details are being kept under wraps for the time being. Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec (Citadel) have been tapped to script a live-action Space Mountain movie for Disney, Deadline can confirm.
While details as to the plot of the film are under wraps, it’s based on the theme park attraction first introduced to Disneyland on January 15, 1975. Jonathan Eirich will produce for Rideback, alongside Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell for Safehouse, with Rideback’s Ryan Halprin is exec producing. Harold also completed a previous draft of the script.

Nathan Zellner and David Zellner’s Sasquatch Sunset is stomping into circa 850 theaters this weekend after debuting in 9 with a solid opening for a film many could find weird. A tribe of Sasquatch, possibly the last of their kind, live and love in the woods of northern California, where it was shot.
“We are taking Bigfoot to America. We have high hopes that the broader market will embrace the movie,” says Kyle Davies of distributor Bleecker Street, calling it “a very different” kind of movie and “a bit of an unknown.”
“It’s a wildcard.”
Marketing was mainly through social activations. “I wouldn’t call it traditional marketing. It doesn’t really fit in that box,” Davies adds. The Sasquatch standees in theaters are fun. And Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar is displaying a baby Sasquatch sitting in a glass case with umbilical cord and placenta.
This is “a polarizing film.

One glance at Harold Halibut’s eye-catching stop-motion aesthetics is enough to sell you on the vibe of this peculiar adventure game. But though it walks and talks with the swagger of Wes Anderson’s Fantastic Mr. Fox, the decision from developers Slow Bros. to tell this story in an interactive medium is a deadly one. Harold Halibut dabbles in many things—Kafkaesque scenarios, capitalist critiques, alien philosophies—but the one thing it intentionally eschews are puzzles. And the result is a frictionless walking simulator.
It’s no accident that Harold Halibut begins on Day 18250 A.C. (after crash) with your eponymous character being hauled into the All Water offices by the local constable. Harold is drowning in the rules and regulations of the shipwrecked and submerged Fedora (Federation of Residents in Airspace), and every day is much the same tedious slog as the last. “Only boring people get bored,...

There's an assumption, especially nowadays in the post-Judd Apatow filmmaking era, that comedies are great big improv fests. A finished script is nice and all, but when you put a bunch of funny people together, you'd be loath not to let them riff up a storm; give yourself a multitude of options in the edit, and, provided your cast brings their A game, you'll wind up finding the funniest possible version of your movie. It's comedy Cassavetes!
This is, of course, nonsense. While great actors are capable of improving a scene via a sudden bolt of inspiration -- be it dramatic or comedic -- you don't waltz into a production with a bare template in the hopes that your cast will deliver inspired daily punch-ups. You plan the living hell out of your movie because you've got to make days; falling behind schedule means going over budget, and unless...

The stellar video game adaptation that is "Fallout" has finally arrived on Prime Video. The show presents an immersive alternate future that feels akin to the games while weaving a whole new wasteland-based tale. One of the "Fallout" series' great strengths is the depth of its in-game world, which lends itself to telling multiple stories from numerous characters' perspectives. Each game in the series, which kicked off with 1997's top-down RPG "Fallout," tells a different story set in a retrofuturist alternate reality where the world was decimated by nuclear war in 2077. The games have been set across this post-apocalyptic U.S., from Appalachia to Vegas, and feature a different protagonist each time.
The streaming series is canon with the "Fallout" games, and takes a similar approach, debuting characters and a narrative that are completely original creations while depicting the unique wasteland of the games in vivid detail. Jonathan Nolan, who...

Warner Bros’ is pushing M. Night Shyamalan’s latest genre movie, Trap, from Aug. 2 to Aug. 9.
The news comes ahead of Warner Bros. studio presentation tomorrow, Tuesday, at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Nv.
The movie moves away from Sony’s family pic, Harold and the Purple Crayon, making it the only studio entry on Aug 2, to what is a very crowded frame on Aug. 9.
Among the wide releases already situated on Trap‘s new date is Amazon MGM’s The Fire Inside, Lionsgate’s videogame adaptation, Borderlands, Neon’s horror movie Cuckoo, and Roadside Attractions’ Jean Reno movie, My Penguin Friend.
Trap stars Josh Hartnett. Pic’s blurb: A father and teen daughter attend a pop concert, where they realize they’re at the center of a dark and sinister event.
Typically when there’s a pile-up like this, it means Warner Bros. is in the know that another film will move off of Aug.

Paul Rudd is back for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, and this time, he’s in the drivers seat of the iconic Ecto-1 vehicle.
Following 2021’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife, the franchise picks up with an ancient artifact unleashing an evil force, and Ghostbusters new and old join forces to save the world from a second ice age. Original stars Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson — who appeared briefly in Afterlife — return to their classic roles, starring alongside Rudd, Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard and Mckenna Grace.
“It was so great getting to work with them on this,” Rudd told The Hollywood Reporter at the film’s New York premiere on Thursday of working with the trio. “It’s so surreal honestly. I’ve been watching Ghostbusters my whole life and I’m such a fan of theirs and a fan of the film, to be part of it is a thrill, a total thrill.

For this month’s installment of “TV Terrors” we revisit Showtime’s “Masters of Horror,” which was created by Mick Garris and aired for two seasons between 2005 and 2007.
It seemed like a horror fan’s wet dream: a horror anthology series with some of the greatest horror filmmakers of all time lensing short format horror films for premium cable. Although horror icons had teamed in the past to bring us series like “Tales from the Darkside” and “Tales from the Crypt,” there wasn’t a modern series that brought them all together to have a chance to tell their stories in the anthology format. “Masters of Horror” seemed like a prime opportunity to re-invent the waning anthology horror format, and while it didn’t quite re-invent the wheel as planned, it brought with it a lot of great content from some bonafide horror icons.

Our feature series Origins provides artists with a space to break down everything that went into their latest release. Today, Carpool takes us through their new single, “No News is Good News.”
Emo-pop revolutionaries Carpool are back with the latest single from their upcoming album, My Life in Subtitles. The new track, “No News Is Good News,” continues their perfect formula of crafting the catchiest pop-punk inspired emo in the scene right now.
The song is explosive, just like the previous two singles from the forthcoming album (“Can We Just Get High” and “Open Container Blues”), but lyrically it is more downtempo and introspective than the rush of buzzing excitement and fast-paced collapse featured on the prior tracks.
The song is propelled forward by driving drums and emo’s signature twinkly guitars, and the dramatic, near-yelling vocals make the song instantly powerful. The titular phrase and theme of the song are catchy and thought-provoking.

Audiences love a Stephen King movie. The work of the best-selling horror novelist has inspired a large number of films, and even the not-so-good ones draw a crowd. King isn't just an author, he's a brand, and when you slap his name on a movie poster, people tend to notice. Most of King's major works have already been adapted to the big and small screen, but he has plenty of short stories left for filmmakers to draw on. One of King's many short stories is "The Lawnmower Man," first published in a 1975 issue of "Cavalier" before being added to his short story collection "Night Shift," released in 1978. In the 1990s, Hollywood came calling and brought "The Lawnmower Man" to the big screen. Sort of. Kind of. Maybe. Well, not really.
Directed by Brett Leonard, with a script penned by Leonard and Gimel Everett, "The Lawnmower Man" is a curious piece...

Exclusive: Amazon MGM Studios has acquired Burn Night, a package from Safehouse Pictures’ Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell and writer Chris Sparling.
The project’s blurb: Seven years of the annual incident known as “Burn Night” have hardened the Lockhart family, but nothing’s prepared them for tonight. Wings blot out the stars, fire rains from the sky, and something monstrous circles above. Trapped in their lakeside community, they hold fast to one another during their desperate fight to survive until sunrise.
The feature project falls under Safehouse Pictures’ first-look film deal with Amazon MGM Studios. Austin Bowman serves as director of development for the production company and brought the project in Amazon MGM.
Harold received his first Primetime Emmy nomination last year in the limited series category for Disney+/Lucasfilm’s Obi-Wan Kenobi on which he wrote and served as EP. Harold wrote two summer event films last year,...

The film and TV production boom in the U.K. came to a grinding halt in 2023 amid the Hollywood writers and actors strikes.
According to the British Film Institute, the total spend on film and high-end TV production last year reached £4.23 billion ($5.37 billion) from 394 productions, down 35 percent from £6.27 billion ($7.72 billion) in 2022 as previously reported.
U.K. production spend is counted in the statistics for the year in which principal photography starts, which means shoots started in 2023 but then paused because of the strikes are fully attributed to 2023.
Or as the BFI noted: “If a production starts but then pauses, the total spend for the production is incorporated into the period’s spend data at that point, even if production restarts and concludes much later.”
Despite the drop in spend in 2023 following two years of records, the BFI highlighted that “this is the fourth-highest combined film and high-end TV spend reported...

The Roundabout Theatre Company tonight renamed its Broadway venue – a 104-year-old building that began as the Selwyn and most recently went by the prosaic American Airlines Theatre – to honor its late artistic director Todd Haimes.
The 42nd Street venue officially became the Todd Haimes Theatre in a dedication ceremony tonight. The name change was announced last June, and becomes official just in time to welcome its first tenant: The revival of John Patrick Shanley’s Tony- and Pulitzer Prize-winning play Doubt: A Parable, directed by Scott Ellis and starring Tyne Daly and Liev Schreiber, begins previews this Friday ahead of a February 29 opening night.
The venue’s name change was made to honor, in the words of the company, the “extraordinary dedication to the institution [Haimes] called home, and his enormous contributions to Roundabout and the entire theatre community.”
