Re-released in 1944, with some cuts (sex and sadism scenes) and preceded by a nine minute prologue, set in present time with a WWII theme. This re-release version runs 118 minutes.
The newly added prologue and epilogue to the 1944 version consists of dialogue between pilots and crew of a B 25 US bomber on a mission over Rome during WWII (likely 1943-44).
EMKA Limited (the film's current owner) and American Movie Classics restored and preserved the original full-length version in 1994 and is available on video. This restored version runs 125 minutes (including a 3-minute intermission).
